As far as the penalty goes, the linked article follows most of the commentary in saying it would have been a 10 yard penalty for tripping.
But there is a separate penalty for a leg whip, which is considered unsportsmanlike conduct and therefore a 15 yard penalty. Fits the description to me:
Quote:
What is Leg Whip?
An illegal play in football in which a player swings his leg horizontally in an attempt to make contact with an opposing player's leg. The leg whip was banned due to the likelihood of injury occurring because of the awkward contact with the leg. It is considered an unsportsmanlike conduct infraction and is penalized 15 yards.
to me it was a leg whip , the Refs always have a say in
the Game it seems were mostly on the short end of the
stick . I don't Follow OBJ actually got banned on Twitter
for a couple of Reasons but I call it like I see it and
that doesn't always work well on some of these platforms
most are more harm than good .
Of course, if they called any of the pass interference calls on the Eagles in the second half would've made the last second heroics not needed.

Rosas should have had the legit FG try.
Here goes Odell making it all about Odell again.

I typically don't gripe about calls, even bad ones, but this was just egregious.
And injuring our star WR is now salt in the wound.
