Benjamin Allbright tweet re: 2019 QB class

Sean : 12/15/2018 1:32 pm
I’ve linked his tweet which says he only sees 3 first round QB’s as of now-

Herbert
Haskins
Locke

In the mentions he says Grier is a mid round pick. He also says Haskins fits the Giants best based on Shurmur & the personnel they currently have.

Found this to be interesting.

he saw Grier as a 3rd rounder in a different thread. He might join on this thread to post to confirm.
Allbright doesn't think Herbert is coming out

but put him on the list because he is eligible.

Says that down in the tweet comments.
This is the same guy

Who though saquon would be another cj spiller if im not mistaken..
Grier is. 3rd/4th rounder

Lock has a top tier arm, but thats about it. I view him as a 3rd rounder as well
I think 2020 is when we go get our QB of the future.
SFGFNCGiantsFan : 12/15/2018 3:36 pm : link
I suspect Eli will be the starter in '19.

I’m not so sure. If the Giants are picking 10-12 range & Herbert/Haskins are sitting there they may be tempted. Assuming 8 wins in 2019, they may have to mortgage a lot of assets to jump up in 2020.
If the Giants don't draft a QB high this year and they know that
SLIM_ : 12/15/2018 4:08 pm : link
Lauletta isn't the answer or have major doubts that he is, I think the Giants need to trade out (or back) of round 1 or 2 this year and pick up an extra 1st for 2020.

What is your evaluation/opinion of Daniel Jones?

Very good point. They will have to really get creative to get the needed capital for 2020.
I’ll be stunned if Grier is a mid round pick.

He has his warts, but in a QB starved league, someone I’ll take a flyer on him.
Jones and Grier May end up being first rounders

I was wondering the same thing.
I want the Giants to draft Justin Herbert
Jay on the Island : 12/15/2018 8:42 pm : link
They won't get the chance if Jacksonville is picking ahead of them though. Hopefully they will decide to address the QB position in free agency in order to win now by picking up Bridgewater or Flacco.
Herbert would be pretty silly...

not to come out with his first projection. Even with multiple disability policies, I don’t think you can cover the total earnings potential.

By all accounts, however, Herbert loves Oregon. And with the great recruiting classes brought in by Cristobal, the Ducks are going to be very dangerous the next few years as playoff threats.

One more win,

and the Giants could be drafting 13-18.....Giants would have to sell the farm to get their qb, if they wanted to...

"Longtime NFL draft guru and league personnel executive Gil Brandt tweeted Monday that he'd "make a rather heavy wager" Oregon QB Justin Herbert will enter the 2019 NFL draft."

I think Herbert is going to enter the draft. He knows that he is the consensus #1 QB this year but next year he will be competing with Tua, Fromm, etc. The Giants are the perfect spot for Herbert. He will backup Eli for a year and learn behind a future HOF QB. Herbert is raw and he will struggle mightily if he has to play year one just like Jared Goff did. Goff was more advanced coming out too.

It depends on who they like. Last year the best QB in the draft went #10 and the year before that the best QB in the draft went #10. It wouldn't take the farm to the 10 spot from the middle of round one. And if the Giants are fortunate to make the playoffs and are drafting somewhere between 21 and 32, they probably won't be prioritizing the QB position.

Tua and Fromm should be the targets. And I’m also fully expecting DG and Co. to sell off premium draft capital to get them.
Haskins is trash
GeorgeAdams33 : 12/16/2018 2:08 am : link
The guy has no touch at all. Every throw is a line drive. He is not accurate either. I wouldn't touch him before the fifth round. He will be a total bust.

I'm not a Haskins fan either. He has the making of a career backup.

Deejboy : 12/16/2018 10:11 am : link
are hilarious. Hankins sucks. Grier is a mid round guy. After the game against Oklahoma fans here were saying Grier was a 1st round pick and the Giants having the gall to win games meant they would lose out on him.

This is one way to get a QB in 2020. So the Giants trading way back and getting a 2020 1st rounder would not surprise me.
