As much as I love Eli and Saquon, we better get ourselves our next QB ASAP. Been rooting for the Giants since 1956 and it’s been the exception where we had an Eli or a Simms. For most of the years, we’ve had crap at QB. I don’t watch the Jets but from what I hear, Darnold has nothing around him. If he gets some talent, and we don’t get a QB, it’ll be a long time saying oy vey. I’ve had enough of that

On that 4th and1? It worked out OK for the Jets on the drive, but there was no reason not to challenge, especially after Houston took a time out. No wonder TB is likely fired at season’s end

I am one of those people who thinks Darnold is a very good prospect. And when watching the draft, it sure looked to me like he wasn't happy being chosen by the Jets instead of the GIANTS or maybe some other quality organization. (I do think Barkley was the right pick for the G-men though, and did before the draft, too.)
And I am also one of those people who thinks the Jets organization sucks and that there is a good possibility that Darnold will play out his rookie contract and leave.

Like I've said in the past, I don't have a problem with Darnold, Rosen, and Allen. They seem like genuinely good dudes. They do, especially Darnold. I never had a problem with Darnold's personality because the kid is easy to root for.
But I've seen all of Darnold and Rosen's games in their final year in college. I didn't like what I saw. Period. Darnold was an absolute turnover machine (and still is in the NFL) and Rosen had absolutely no mobility and had major injury concerns. Doesn't mean that if the Giants drafted one of them I would root against him. It also doesn't mean I want them to bust so I can be proven right. But the people who bring up Darnold every chance they get are extremely annoying and make me almost want to see him screw up so those people can shut the hell up.
Here's what we know: Darnold is very young. Extremely young. He's had some good moments and he's also had some bad moments...and he's had an injury. The jury is out and will remain out for the next few years.
Meanwhile, Saquon Barkley, the best player in the Draft, has validated where we took him. He's one of the best players in the NFL...AS A ROOKIE. He's running away with Offensive Rookie of the Year honors and has single-handedly kept us in most games.
Here's something to chew on. Let's say we did take Darnold and he played right away and it had been a mixed bag (which it has been for the Jets) with an injury. Then we saw how Saquon was doing. How he was taking the league by storm. How he was being mentioned in the same breath as Todd Gurley and Ezekiel Elliot as the top RB in the NFL. How he was being compared to Barry Sanders.
How many people would be bitching about not having Saquon on a regular basis? Even if we miraculously had more wins with Darnold as our QB, there would still be CONSTANT mentions of Saquon. How Saquon would've been the missing piece to our offense and how we could've gotten by with Eli or another QB had we had Saquon Barkley. How we would've been Super Bowl contenders with a team that had Saquon, OBJ, etc.
Accept the fact that we have the best rookie in the NFL. Accept the fact that while Darnold has looked good at times, he also has looked completely lost and leads the NFL in Interceptions...and no, the majority of those INTs were due to poor throws and decisions, not by the apparent lack of offensive talent on the Jets. And in return, I'lll accept the fact that the jury will be out on who we should've taken for the next few years.

He plays with crap all around him and he has won almost as many games as the Giant have. Yes, I wanted the Giants to select Darnold after seeing Barkley, I am glad they passed on Darnold. Let's see what Darnold looks like if he ever gets real NFL staring caliber skill players to play with.
I here you. Some posters here are ridiculous. Even Mahomes, as great as he is, sat for a full year and plays with am offense with tremendous skill players and one of the best offensive minds as his head coach. What does Darnold have? A bunch of crap and Todd Bowles, a defensive coach.
They already complicated his development by sticking with a lame duck coach in his rookie year and, thus, forcing him to learn another new offense under another staff in year two. You also have to strike while the iron is hot when you have a young QB on a cheap contract - see the Rams, Eagles, Chiefs, etc. The Jets have a terrible roster - might take a couple of years to get it playoff caliber. in my view with this qb Barkley thing is not really how good Barkley is its that there was virtually no way he wasn’t going to be very good or great. Barkley was the surest thing to come out of college in years. Anytime you can get a sure thing great player you take him. It was so simple. The giants knew Barkley was the goods.
