Caller on postgame ripped ownership and blamed Chris Mara in part. Papa went off on him, cited people from that Big Blue Interactive group who blame Chris Mara for the state of the roster and said they have no clue what theyre talking about. According to Papa, when Parcells and Coughlin went elsewhere, the first guy they called was Chris Mara. Nevertheless, Papa said he didnt make the final call on anyone, and the state of the roster cant be laid at his doorstep.
What I will do is sit back and laugh, because BBI has been providing a ton of comedic gems as of late.

he's a fucking meathead.
There isn't a consensus here of blaming anybody. You can pick and choose a few posts and come up with a BBI consensus in your own mind like he apparently has.
He responded to a caller who brought it up. And Im glad he did because this board is fucking clueless about many things, personnel decision being at the top of the list.
+1. Half the BBI are girls who constantly complain and don't know what they are watching and complain about everything that goes wrong. First year following and my wife knows more and complains much less. JFC
Could not agree more with both posts
Bob Papa wants you to leave Chris alone when he goes to the Kentucky Derby during the draft.
But who keeps hiring "west coast pass as run" coaches? Is that Chris?
Or is that more a result of not having an O line?...and is not having a line the result. of. believing. IN pass as run?
For obvious reasons going back to.macadoo. with regards to what you then ask your linesmem to do..and which ones get drafted.
Why would you take his word for it? He's on the Giants payroll and a Giants homer. Which I have no problem with, but he shouldn't act like he's not.
Man up, make insightful comments or shut up.
In Japan it is Monday, et.
A - a quality analyst who isn't listened to, by two different regimes, which begs the question of why
B - a token figure with a fancy title
C- a guy with a real leadership position who is part of the problem.
take your pick. Whoever holds the de facto position, regardless of actual title is part of the problem. So either CM is the man who matches the title, or he's a guy with an empty title. Bob can't say he's the former and say he escapes a lot of responsibility for this team.
a) after a loss
b) eli has a bad game
c) combo of A and B.

Because if its only posters who post after a and b of your statement, that is you included.

The voices are a little louder in my scenarios. Check the poster above you.
"It depended on if they knew what they were doing," he said. "Were they experienced enough to have a good opinion? You listen to people whose opinions you respect."
When Chris Mara told Parcells that Dave Meggett could help the Giants in 1989, Parcells was skeptical. Meggett was 5'7", and the Giants already had a 5'7" running back in Joe Morris. Parcells was adamanthe did not want another back who couldn't pass protect or function as a receiver. But Mara kept working him.
"Meggett could help on third downs," Mara told him. "He can return punts. He can return kicks. You could develop a role for him."
Parcells respected Mara. He listened. He relented.
Meggett was voted an All-Pro three times and ended his career with the most punt-return yards in history. After Parcells left the Giants to become coach of the Patriots, he signed Meggett in New England.

This is 100% correct
Thrown in there is one of the worst years in franchise history.
But no, the Vice president of player personnel shouldn't be criticized.

Do a word search and see how often Chris Mara is mentioned on BBI. Hes rarely mentioned here. And maybe Papa is right, and Chris Mara has little input on personnel decisions, but then why the fuck is he the SVP of Personnel?
You cant have it both ways. You cant say that Chris Mara has little input on personnel decisions and then say he is qualified for his position. The problem many have with him is that he can never be fired, no matter how shitty the roster gets.

Good post fkap. That's basically how I see it.

Yup. Were the browns but we have Lombardis so were not a total laughing stock.
And to be fair, I don't know if you should expect that given his job title.
As to what Chris Mara is or isn't - it's hard to take anything the Giants do seriously when they relieve TC, Reese and Ross of their responsibilities but he's sitting there with a Sr VP of Pro Personnel title. If it's a title in name only, there'd be no problem in reassigning him. If he's actually responsible for decisions on players, he's every bit as responsible for this shitshow as anyone else.
The real focus should be on the small subset of Giants FANS complaining on an internet message board about it. Thats the real problem.

It wasnt a focus, it was a response to a caller. Why is this so difficult for people to understand? This was something brought to his attention, he didnt seek it out.

He has no say, *but*, he's the first guy that Parcells and Coughlin wanted in their FO. Then, went on to say that he's part of the drafting and evaluation process, but since he doesn't sign on the bottom line he's not responsible.
Papa hopped in the company truck and mowed down logic during that call.
Bob obviously reads the posts here. He probably logged on one day when there was a thread about Chris Mara
His call of the game-clinching play was pretty bad also. For a very awkward moment it was like he forgot Brady's 2nd heave to Moss was on 4th down.
He's not a very good play by play man.
Is that it?
Then lets rip this DMF.
What the fu*k do you think he would say? "Chris Mara is a stooge who only works for the Giants because he can't get a job doing the same thing anywhere else?"
Yea, that would go over well.
C'mon. This isn't even worthy of being called "news".

I don't think it was defending Mara that got this here, it's that Papa decided to pin it on BBI.
As if BBI is where bashing the Mara's for being incompetent got it's start. Maybe Bob's never been to a tailgate?
I have been talking about this over and over
Chris Mara became Senior Vice President of Player Personnel in 2011.
Since then this franchise has been mostly terrible
The fact is this franchise is a mess and has replaced coaches and GMs yet CHRIS MARA CAN'T BE FIRED
I wonder what the handles of there operatives are? Do they have meetings on what to post?
Go!
Were only what? 8 players away from a good defense ?
