Nick Foles

AnskyJK : 12/16/2018 8:43 pm
Will be a FA unless eagles pay him 20 million next season, hard to imagine.

Would you rather pay Eli or Foles 20?
Eli

No one is better than Eli
micky : 12/16/2018 8:47 pm : link
The focus should be other areas of team
Not a big fan of that move
DonnieD89 : 12/16/2018 8:51 pm : link
Investing in him could be a huge franchise killer. Would rather draft a QB than pay for a salary that Foles is going to demand. Would rather stick with Eli on e more year.
Neither

.

But I would like Eli on the team next year. But I wish we could have found his successor a year or two earlier.
The correct answer is....
KWALL2 : 12/16/2018 8:58 pm : link
No.

No to both at $20 mill. or more than 5 mil.
There is no one out there better than Eli
TommytheElephant : 12/16/2018 9:01 pm : link
And Andrew Luck is not in next years draft

I think he meant who wont be under contract.
Foles would likely be better than Eli next year,
Section331 : 12/16/2018 9:07 pm : link
but the problem would be in committing to him long term. That said, Eli was fucking horrible today.
I don't think Eli is anywhere near a top half QB
bigbluescot : 12/16/2018 9:07 pm : link
but no you don't replace him with Foles.
I've been a Foles fan forever,
CT Charlie : 12/16/2018 9:23 pm : link
but the Maras won't say goodbye to Eli until after next year. So Foles won't be an option.
It’s time to move on from Eli soon
Sammo85 : 12/16/2018 9:25 pm : link
As a transition QB for a couple years, sign me up.

I can’t watch much more of this version of #10.

But I suspect the regime is going to punt the QB situation one more year and continue to lose next season.
......
CoughlinHandsonHips : 12/16/2018 9:26 pm : link
Maybe not Foles, but cutting Eli saves the team 17 million against the cap.

Someone like Fitzpatrick, Bridgewater, or Tyrod Taylor likely cost 5 million or so against the cap.

Could draft his eventual replacement, and have potentially 10 million to spend elsewhere.

This team seems light years away anyway, not like Eli will put them over the top. Start building for the next guy up
Foles is currently a better QB than Eli
Gmen88 : 12/16/2018 9:26 pm : link
but investing in him long term would be foolish.
Some QB needy team will pony up the money for him......
Simms11 : 12/16/2018 9:29 pm : link
He’s an average QB with decent mobility. Fairly accurate, as well. Next years QB class is a big ? And Foles just might a better option for some teams. Giants aren’t one of them though IMO.

Did we see Nick Foles...

the last time he played on a team other than the Eagles? He’s the definition of Just a Guy.

Because Luck was one of the best QB prospects coming out of college.
I would rather fix the OL
Chip : 12/16/2018 10:10 pm : link
Find a safety and make webb the 3rd db and not a starter. Find WR that don't drop the ball. The biggest question is what to do with Vernon. The tackling was awful today. Webb and Riley were useless.
One more year
idiotsavant : 12/16/2018 10:32 pm : link
We haven't earned the new qb yet, in my opinion we haven't earned the new wr even.

Still ol work to do, and build the D.

No shiny toys for the shurm just yet.
after tonight Wenz might be available

Fitz? He will give you fits....

Taylor made 16M this year....

Bridgewater is looking for that second contract.....not a one year 5M deal.....

Don’t appreciate how expensive mediocre qb costs like Keenum making 25 million

Oh there's plenty of appreciation for the 22.2M mediocrity going on here.
It's time for the Giants to hit rock bottom
jcn56 : 12/16/2018 11:15 pm : link
Forget Foles. Let Eli go. Let either Lauletta or some other scrub take the helm in 2019, and just entirely hit the skids. Work your way out of some bad contracts by taking the cap hit in 19. Find competent leadership to take the helm, both at the top and the HC. Then go into the 2020 draft, select a QB high, and rebuild the team for football in 2020. Use the advantage of having a cost controlled QB and some cap space to fill some holes in FA, along with another draft of high pick talent.

Won't happen, but that's what they should be doing.
It's almost like all the games of Nick Foles being a terrible
Ten Ton Hammer : 12/16/2018 11:30 pm : link
Fucking QB didnt happen.

Ok, since we are dwelling on mediocre

whose going to throw Joe Flacco into the mix. Not me.
For the love of God make it stop! There is no FA qb out there
SterlingArcher : 12/17/2018 12:07 am : link
who can make the Giants better! Nor is there one in the draft who came to this team, he would get killed working behind this oline! The Giants will play with Eli as their qb for the next two seasons.

Yet, he won the Super Bowl and looked like the better QB in virtually every game he played from when Wentz go hurt through the Super Bowl.
Somebody is giving him decent money this off season. He's better than the other names thrown around like Bridgewater and Taylor.
He is not the answer long term, but the Giants could do worse while looking for a permanent replacement.
If Tua is the best prospect on your draft board for 2020,
Ivan15 : 12/17/2018 9:00 am : link
You need to pray that there is a hidden gem out there somewhere.

I think the next Starter will be a free agent signee.
Maybe he could help us beat the Eagles
mattlawson : 12/17/2018 9:08 am : link
For a change
To be honest
JesseS : 12/17/2018 9:29 am : link
I'd rather try and trade for Nick Mullens. They're going to have a QB problem next year in san fran and after watching him for 4 full games (I'm a social worker, not a scout), I think he could be a good stopgap until they find a franchise qb that will allow them to build elsewhere with those high picks. Maybe I'm nuts - but it would be nice to have someone that could hold down the fort after next year, assuming Eli has one year left.
After winning the Superbowl
St. Jimmy : 12/17/2018 10:07 am : link
for the Eagles he deserves to play behind the Giants' offensive line.
