skeptic in me finds it a little interesting that the two teams who the NFL wants desperately to succeed in LA after looking like a**holes for letting them move there abandoning their own fan bases happen to be at the top of both their conferences and generating extreme buzz as they are both having big problems selling PSL's for their new stadium
I think they have the most talented roster in the NFL, getting Bosa back puts them over the edge. The problem is their circumstance, I don't see them winning 3 road games at Pittsburgh, at NE/HOU and at Arrowhead to get there.

That's not skepticism, that's a conspiracy theory.
Homefield would help but they'll find a way to choke. Though this looks like the worst New England team in some time, I still give them the advantage in any type of rematch with Pitt or KC. I think they're more than capable of winning against the Chargers too on the road. I wouldn't be shocked at all if they were in the SB yet again.
from last October 2017 when they played the Giants and they were both 0-4.
Chargers had been 9-27 in their previous 36 games. You can say they both were in the same boat of bad drafting, poor decision making, and the specter of moving out of San Diego hanging over them.
The road is going to be tough for them. They are lined up to play the Chiefs for the 3rd time either in LA or back in KC depending on how the division plays out, but to even get there, they would have to go back to Pittsburgh (as of now) and win there again, just to get that 3rd meeting.
If they can get homefield, I say yes. If not, can't see them winning at Pittsburgh, than at KC, then at New England to get to the Bowl. Travel from west to east 4 times in 4 weeks (if you count Week 17 at Denver), tired legs. It eventually will catch up.
Difference between #1 and #5 is huge this year more than others.
Dont you find it odd you stick up more for a QB with a lesser career than you do for your own QB of a team you supposedly root for?
No, but I am not rooting for a player with a "lesser career". Rivers just hasn't been as fortunate as Eli.
But this is where I am - the Giants are out. So I am looking for a situation to root for. Rivers is a great player, and a very good guy. So why not?
Ironically, btw, of the three QBs in the 2004 draft, Rivers was at the bottom of my list. I did like his arm or delivery. To this day, I am utterly amazed how successful he's been with his unconventional style.
In a way, I admire your hopeless devotion to Eli. But I think it clouds your judgment when we get into these compare and contrast situations.
Now you, or FMiC, may say I have an anti-Eli bias based on my disdain they way he, Archie, Peyton and Condon manipulated the '04 draft, but I would contend my strength is I can compartmentalize my feelings and provide rational, thoughtful analysis. ;)

I'm rooting for Baltimore. I like Jackson and what they are doing on offense takes courage and creativity.
Jackson is the weak link. Baltimore’s D alone puts them in the mix. If they had a QB actually capable of completing passes they’d be a dark horse to come out of the AFC.

Lol. There is nothing lesser the past 4-5 years about Rivers vs Eli. I don't think. Anyone is hammering Eli for his overall body of work, his two Superbowls or what he's meant to this franchise in general. But anyone who thinks Eli is a better qb than Rivers at this stage of their careers is blind.
Maybe it's the wear and tear of the playoff years 2005-2011. I don't know and who cares. It is what it is and objective analysis of the current situation doesn't make anyone less of a fan.

2) Hate the Eli hating Chargers fan base
3) Rivers winning a SB might have an adverse effect on Eli getting in the HOF
Henry has been balling out this season, just ask Screaming A
Heck, even in beating the Chiefs, it took a terrible PI call, a TD and a 2 point conversion.
Also, if the Chargers are a Wild Card, I'm not sure how Rivers will fare in the January cold of Pittsburgh, KC or NE
Not sure about that. Jared Goff has turned into Dave Brown the past 3 weeks. He's looked dreadful.

Ditto.

Rivers isn't a gigantic cunt like Big Ben
I don’t bet, but if I did, I wouldn’t bet against that.

The recent emergence of Mike Williams is huge. That gives him a very good corp of receivers in the vertical and horizontal game.
And their D is good on the front and back-end.
Let's be honest, the entire NFL is very schizophrenic right now.
I am rooting for them because it would be a good thing for Rivers to play for a ring.
A wonderful sentiment. Though I would also not want the chargers or seahawks I there due to their respective fan bases.

They both are. Roethlisberger is deplorable off the field; Rivers is a lunatic on the field.

Passion is suddenly lunacy?

You know Rivers has played 1 playoff game since 2009, right?

But I still think it's gonna be Pats - Saints.

I'd like to see ANY AFC team in the SB besides the Pats.

Then again...greatest QB class ever?
All three would then be worthy of getting it, if it happens.
Rivers vs Ben AFC Championship would be rich.

I see them in first round as 4 vs. 5
I didn’t realize a Pitt loss yesterday would have killed them playoffs wise.
There really isn't this history of Rivers showing up small in big games, is there?
Saturday’s game is one of those games of the year and most nfl fans wouldn’t even know.
A chargers loss almost eliminates them from the 1 seed.a Baltimore loss almost eliminates them from the playoffs.

Don't you find it odd that you think any of these guys require sticking up for in the first place?
