since the Giants don't have a first year head coach, haven't made the playoffs in the last 2 years, and haven't been on Hard Knocks in the last 10 years, they qualify. Since we have OBJ and Barkley, plus the fan base and media market I'd imagine HBO would love to feature the G-Men. If Eli is still on the team next year you've got one more compelling story-line.
Currently the other teams who would qualify - assuming they don't make the playoffs or fire their coach this year are - 49ers, Ravens, Broncos, Redskins, Colts, Raiders, Lions, Seahawks and Cardinals.
Last interesting stat, 3 of the last 5 coaches who's teams have appeared on Hard Knocks have been fired during/after the next season.
Or maybe the Giants fire Shurmur this offseason and hire Belichick, making the whole thing moot. His contract with the Pats is up after this season making him a free agent coach.

Conversely... I think it might drive Eli to retire...lol
Ravens/Redskins are rumored to be moving on from their current HCs.
Not that I hope they're featured. But if it happens, all right.
But will it make the NFL more money?
My magic 8 ball says yes.
I think the NFL would love to do a NYG Hard Knocks series, especially since they have two of the biggest stars in the game in Barkley and Beckham. Throw in the Eli Manning one-man QB controversy, a HC possibly on the hot seat, and let us not forget, perhaps most importantly, the NYC market.
I know the team may be opposed as well as many fans, but I can guarantee I'll be watching every episode if it happens.
I would so much rather have a multi-week HBO series about the team. I love the Giants. I want to see as much of them as I can. I want to see better quality footage of some plays in practice and I want to see more of the personalities and profiles of some of our players, coaches, and front office.
I also don't buy that it has some material, provable effect on the team's performance that season. 6/13 Hard Knocks Teams improved their records, 5/13 had worse records, 2 stayed the same.
I'd also heard that was part of the reason the Giants did it - so they could be exempt from Hard Knocks
It's one thing to read about the plays and practice. It's a completely different thing to see them actually practice on the field.
Also, the show humanizes the players, which you can't get through a beat report or tweet.
Yep a show about the Giants scouting dept during that period belonged more on Comedy Central than the NFL network...
Unfortunately, I did just confirm with somebody that "Finding Giants" makes it so the team doesn't have to do "Hard Knocks".
I would think HBO would hold off on the Raiders till their move to Vegas. 49ers have Garoppolo returning from ACL injury, Ravens have Lamar Jackson, which could interest ppl, Lions and Arizona are blandt
I think TC would have had a conniption, if they did
Hard Knocks while he was still here, LOL.
...Hard Knocks with this team?
He loves the camera
It's pretty apparent the Giants DON'T do things the right way.
I don't usually watch Hard Knocks, but if the Giants were on it I'd watch just to see the trainwreck.
Unfortunately they may not have a choice. There are rules in place that can force a franchise to be on the show. The only surefire way to avoid being on it is to make the playoffs every other year (at least).
The rumored agreement about Finding Giants may be an out for them - haven't heard anything official about that though. I know we've heard the Giants would rather not deal with having HBO around all camp and will try to avoid it if at all possible.
Watching Gettleman trying to logon, flipping through his old fashioned rolodex, using a flip phone, using his bizarre slang, etc would be priceless.

The way you post some of this shit makes me think you might have a personality disorder of some type. You literally have no clue what you're talking about.

I agree. I would love to see the inner workings of this organization.

and I'll watch every second. That's where the real action is.

It's called levity.
I think that is twisting what I said. But I did laugh at the Davenports and sipping scotch line...
Anyone else turn off the game this Sunday in the 4th quarter to read BBI? I did. BBI was way more fun. I mean - WAY MORE.
It is called levity:)

LOL..but it was kinda funny :)

implication that the Giants are above Hard Knocks, or that the Giants are some sort of model franchise that does things the right way whereby nearly all other franchises don't.

LOL..trainwreck....ok.
