a forward looking student athlete, that has thought about his future and will likely have a lot on his plate competing at the NFL level. As a GM, I would be concerned at the effect of this venture on his bandwidth and intrigued by capacity to plan.
I always expected him to jump off the screen when I watched Michigan games. But I just didn't see enough of that. Only 9.5 career sacks over three years for a player of his rep is troubling...

His sophomore season he did jump off the screen. As dep points out he was hurt this season.

Did you expect more based on Gary's rep out of high school?
Probably since he was the number 1 overall. He rotated as a true freshman. Had a really good year last year. This year was his shoulder. Odd career.
He will be a monster at the combine if healthy. And believe it or not, he is extremely intelligent. Very very smart so him doing this is probably a long term goal of his.

I follow the HS recruiting scene fairly closely, so I was certainly aware of Gary. I grew up in NJ and know the HS football landscape pretty well.
I have seen him interviewed several times and it's no surprise he chose Michigan. Guy is sharp.

No. I thought he had the goods last year and this year he was hurt and he wasn't as effective. If his shoulder checks out he's a top 10 pick for sure. If not - that's a different story.
show that is like hard knocks. They do one that follows Michigan. His personality off the field is very different than on the field. Other take-aways were he has daddy issues, a supportive mom, and I did notice that he comes up big at big moments. He also might be duck footed? Wasn't there something pre-draft about Barkley being duck footed and how that helps him? Maybe i'm not remembering it correctly i don't know.
He was a true stud as a sophomore. Might be the best run defender in the draft. His shoulder never let his junior year begin.
It wouldn’t shock me if he is a top 5 pick if shoulder is deemed healthy.
