Harvey is getting paid more than Familia and W Ramos in 2019. What in the ever loving fuck? I thought he would have been lucky to have gotten a major league contract and a cool mil on a prove it deal. Wow.
His stuff improved as the year end on in 2018 and he's another year removed from the brutal TOS surgery.
Modest salary (Harvey was worth 1.5 fWar last year) for a guy with his upside. Even if he's just an innings eater like last year, it's a fair price for a one year deal.
always be a fan of Harvey and I hope he kicks ass now that he's in the AL.
Coming back like he did after Tommy John and throwing all of those innings the next season and pitching so deep into the playoffs for the Mets was a great effort.
I expected him to get 7-8 million on a 1 year deal. It's not a terrible gamble. He will never be the player he once was obviously but he did pitch much better at times in Cincinnati. The Angels are desperate to create a winning team around Trout who will surely bolt in free agency in two years if they continue to lose.

Gross overpay IMO.
That's the cost of pitching, look at how much Garrett Richards received. He signed a 2 year 15.5 million dollar deal but he will be out all next season. So it is basically a 1 year 15.5 million dollar contract for a pitcher who is coming off TJ surgery that will be on an innings limit.
feel bad for him and what his career end up, but he seemingly brought things on himself he didn't need to that often made things worse. Obviously not the injuries, but he definitely didn't handle his fall from grace gracefully. I believe he even took a shot at the mets org midseason that there was only 1 team in baseball he wouldn't consider signing with. Wish him well with the angels though. Would love to see him rediscover some of what he used to have as unlikely as it is. He was a fun player to watch.
While I agree that the Harvey signing is better than the Vargas one there is no way the Mets should have brought him back even if he was willing. He needed to be removed from the locker room.
that the Mets should've brought Harvey back. I wish things went better with him last year, but they didn't, and it's best to move forward.
I was trying to use Vargas to put Harvey's $11M 1-year deal in context. It's a really reasonable deal IMO at that price without a multi-year commitment. Harvey is much more likely to be worth $16M+ than $6M or less IMO.
don't be obtuse.

at least someone got it.
The Angels are a good fit for him, let's watch him turn into Nolan Ryan now with them.

Are you serious?
I loved Harvey when he wasn't a dick, but man he turned into a dick.
Plus, he's damaged goods.
Good riddance.
Vargas is about as good as a bag of dicks too, but no way I'd want Harvey on this team at this point.

Let BVW plant 5e seeds now for the big fish, and cross your fingers the Angels implode :)

Apologize for the confusion.
