Since there are a lot of arguments as to whether Eli is to blame or the defense or a combination, I'm curious what percentage blame people would assign for the season to various units/people.
For me, I would assign blame as follows:
Defense: 50 percent
OL: 30 percent
Eli: 10 percent (maybe 15)
Shurmur: 10 percent
Rest of team- 0%
- Les
Lack of Pass rush - 20%
O-line - 35%
Shurmur - 25%
and a true leader would acknowledge that.
Jerry Reese - 25%
Odell Beckham - 5%
Eli Manning - 5%
Pat Shurmur - 5%
Dave Gettleman - 5%
James Bettcher - 5%
Second half, 4-4, much blame can be placed on the defense which was beyond hapless when it mattered.
Any other answer is 100% wrong.
They’ve created this calamity. And we’re just in the middle of it.
I expect this darkness to hang over us for another five years...at least.
Defense 35%
Just curious - Why are you blaming Mara for everything? If you didn't like the Gettleman/Shurmer combo (and I'm not saying that this was absolutely the right call), who of the available candidates would you have hired? Would you have kept Reese and McAdoo?
I thought Gettleman's draft was very good (with the exception Laurletta). I liked Shurmer but was hoping he would be a better game-day coach.
defense 30%
I understand your philosophy Plato, but this is clearly an opinion question, not a math problem. You don't need to "show your work" with a question like this and it's absolutely answerable though the quality of answers does vary.
Without posts like this there would not be a BBI.
Ah yes, because so many subjects debated on BBI are answerable and objectively verifiable.
Good talk
We would have been in the playoff hunt if we had gotten off to at least a mediocre start.

How's that on the coaching staff? The old adage "You can't make chicken salad out of chicken sh%t" comes to mind. I'm not saying I know for certain the staff didn't coach these guys up, but it seems that this was a talent issue because once Brown came in (not that he is an All Pro), the OL greatly improved.
OBJ 50%
Shurmur 50%
Gettleman 75%
John Mara 1000000000000%
Rosas and Dixon need to factor into this because they’re kicker and that just won’t do, 8% each.
Eli, again, because he’s not as mobile as Dak who wins more and wins bigger with any help from his line or running back or receiver which Eli doesn’t do, another 50% blame.
OBJs social media account get 28%, maybe even as much as 34% of the blame.
The Rothchilds 10%
The Stonecutters 90%

is on the coaching staff. Like Brady, Eli has no chance behind a line that bad.

Right that is on DG, I thought there would be much more competition brought in for this putrid O-line, but they seemed satisfied that the FA would be enough- dead fucking wrong and it sunk the season before it even had a chance!
Defense: 30%
Offensive Line: 20%
New Coaching Staff, New Offensive & Defensive System: 20%
As time passes, so will the team progress away from Reese's bad decisions. As time passes, so will the team fix both lines. As time passes, so will the team's learn the new systems and the HC will improve his play calling.
