but Albert Brooks and Rip Torn put in two awesome comedic performances in "Defending Your Life".
WELCOME KIWANIS DEAD...Lol
The Good Place is heavily "influenced" by that movie.
Super Dave had one recurring joke that always made me laugh where Dave would bring out a couple of scantily clad women to display a watch or something he was giving away. When the audience whistled, he would say "yes, it sure is a beautiful watch". Bad joke in most hands but he made it work. True master of the deadpan.
Really had a great story in life, and even though he had family in show business, he hated comedy and wanted nothing to do with it because when his father died, his comedian friends were doing their comedic act when they spoke at his funeral. But then Tom Smothers, who thought he was funny and saw his talent, got him to come to CBS and he began to write for The Smothers Brothers, and the rest was history.
If you get a chance, watch him on Seinfeld's show, Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee, where he talks about a lot of this stuff.
RIP and thanks for making us all smile for awhile, Bob.
Brooks was hilarious as a stand-up in his early days. He made a number of appearances on Carson and other shows back then.
I even saw him live at the Bitter End back in the early 70s.
Also brother of Albert Brooks (yes, his real is Albert Einstein) .
Tyler Trent, Mean Gene, the funk man. WTF.
why can't there be a [person we all hate] died thread. Why is it always the good people who die?
Some real classic scenes he did on that show.
RIP.
I also had no idea he was Albert Brooks' brother.

Great movie! the scene where he practices asking for the raise is great. He is excellent in Lost in America too.

I love Albert Brooks's movies. And even further under the radar choice and I think my favorite of his, is Lost in America.
