Another year, another losing season. Let's face it, we are the most loyal fans in the NFL (next to the Browns fans of course). However, I think this season was actually a good start for what could be a bright future with Gettleman at the helm. Let's start with the fact that the team could've packed it in after their abysmal 1-7 start. They looked like a brand new team after the 49ers game. On offense, they have superstars in Beckham and Barkley. Key pieces with Sterling Shepard, Evan Engram and Will Hernandez. Nate Solder came along after a slow start, and while he had uneven play, Jamon Brown seemed to be the missing part for the O-Line. After hearing Gettleman's press conference today, it seems as if he is high on Brown for next season. All-together, the offense is started to click, even with a regressing QB in Eli. Overall, I think they are a few players away from having a great offense. The only big question mark is QB. I don't think they take anyone in the draft. Gettleman is a best player available drafter so I don't think you get your future QB in the draft. I don't think there is anyone worth signing in free agency. Don't think a trade for someone isn't possible. Derek Carr is a name that has been tossed around and it would'nt surprise me if the team trades for him. The Raiders are doing a complete re-build and are looking for more picks to work with. Besides this, I think another wide receiver and right tackle are a must have. On defense, it's a bit of another story. There were some guys on that side of the ball that shouldn't have been out there, or at the very least shouldn't have been starters, especially in the secondary. Curtis Riley should be GONE after the lack of effort he showed on that missed tackle against the Cowboys alone. He is a poor tackler and cannot be counted on against the pass. Free Safety is a pressing need, along with a new cornerback, since BW Webb is clearly not the best option (that being said, could still be a decent nickle or dime back). Jenkins and Collins (if he re-signs) are still good options for what they need. At Linebacker, Alec Ogltree is much better than some of the pathetic inside guys they've had in the past (Kelvin Shepard, Uani Unga, Calvin Munson). He makes splash plays often (5 picks) so I think he's a good option there. BJ Goodson is inconsistent. Liability in coverage and didn't do too much to ensure a job next season. Gmen should look to upgrade over him. Vernon was hurt a lot and still finished with 7 sacks. Good player when healthy. Lorenzo Carter on the other side is only scratching the surface with his potential. Excited to see how he develops. The D-line has Hill and Tomlinson who are two rising young players. Kerry Wynn on the other side has a knack for making plays despite his limited skill set. I was impressed with him all season. Overall, this side is still a bit of a work in progress.

I prefer that word "opportunities" to "needs". Target building great units.
Luckely The Getts seems to value line play...and this draft seems super rich in D Line. So that's probably your answer.
Not in order or priority: Pick one:
Option 1-- Sign a FA like Teddy B. You sign him if you have serious belief he is going to be good. (Goodbye the great Eli)
Option 2-- Trade for Carr. Not a fan of this move but frankly I don't know much about Carr. (Goodbye the great Eli.)
Option 3-- Sign FA Trevor Siemian after you cut Eli. The G-Men will probably stink if hes the starter - that means we'd have chance in 2020 draft to get ann elite QB while you still have a chance of not being bad. You;d have cap space for other positions and he'd be just a weak cog. (Goodbye the great Eli.)
Option 4 - Draft Haskins or maybe Jones (trade down if need be target one if you think they are above average future NFL QB's. Whatever but get one if you think so.)
Each one gives you a different option moving forward. If you believe in Teddy the team could win enough in year 1 at 9-7. It would all depend on Teddy. You can easily get one other FA OL and one draft and that would make the offense set.
Option 2 with Carr is similar to 1 though you'd lose a good pick and maybe stunt one year.
Option 3 - you build for 2020. He wasn't that bad for 2016. You can use him - he might not be that bad and if you give him an oline - the team wouldn't be pitiful. You sign him to 2 year deal or maybe 3 but the intent is after year 1 he is going to groom the 2020 Qb which you get at all costs. The 2019 record won;t be that good anyways.
Option 4-- get one young kid in the draft and live with it and in 2020 they should be ready to be pretty good if thats the scouting report.
**I want someone for Barkley. And the longer you wait - you waste his prime. It would be nice to have a QB for oBJ and Barkley - in their primes AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE FOR AS LONG AS POSSIBLE. That's why the focus should be to get one as a top priority.
False narrative. Name one LB that can cover a TE. Jaylon Smith, maybe?
I didn't like the Shula hire especially since it was clear that he wasn't the top choice. Now that there are several better options available I would like to see the Giants make a change. Besides Stefanski there are good options such as Adam Gase or Dirk Koetter. Kliff Kingsbury is in high demand as an OC and has been contacted by several NFL teams. In time he very well could be a hot HC candidate.

Mike Francessa asked Shurmur specifically about Stefanski yesterday and he said they are happy with Shula and are not pursuing anyone else for OC. He did say he will "keep an eye" on where Stefanski ends up.
