NFT: NHL All-Star Selections Announced

pjcas18 : 1/2/2019 7:10 pm
Hank picked for the Rangers. Hayes probably deserved to go.

Carey Price for the Habs.

Barzal the only Islander.

Aho from CAR

Pastrnak from the B's

Hall from the Devils

Patrick Kane leads the way with his 8th appearance, Price his 7th (undeserved by the way this year at least).

How does Crosby only have 4 appearances? I guess that's what happens when you're hated by everyone.

Ovechkin
Matthews
MacKinnon
McDavid

the 4 fan voted captains. Ovie declined to rest for the 2nd half.

One more spot, will be fan voted, and my guess is it's a San Jose Shark since they're hosting it.

I know I'm biased but the NHL all-star competition is the best all-star event in professional sports.

Mitch Marner and Brayden Point IMO the two most obvious omissions. But both their teams already had two.

The selections:

F Sidney Crosby, PIT (4th)

F Claude Giroux, PHI (6th)

F Taylor Hall, NJD (3rd)

D John Carlson, WSH (1st)

D Seth Jones, CBJ (2nd)

G Braden Holtby, WSH (4th)

G Henrik Lundqvist, NYR (5th)

Every team get one, but I don't know I have much issue with Giroux being selected anyway.

He's on almost a 100 point pace.

Its Crosbys 8th selection

Four sounded low for him I can't imagine many years of his career where he hasn't been in the MVP discussion, hard to believe he wasn't an all-star.

the article must only count 1st team selections. or it's a typo.

I feel like their empty points, if there's such a thing. I know a lot of Philly fans who pretty much would like to see him traded.
Good luck trading

Giroux with 4 years remaining at $8.275M per season cap hit.

Now watch he'll be traded to the Habs for Kotkaniemi.

I don't think the NHL All-Star game is about the best players that year, it's more of a marketing of the game event. And Giroux is a name.

The Flyers should try and trade him though, they have some good young players and prospects, and with the whole regime blow up it makes sense to cut ties with veterans like him and rebuild.

Thought Kreider deserved it

for the Rangers. 20 goals less than half way through the season. Hank gets in on merit though he hasn't had a great season. To be fair to him though, Marc Staal is a first pairing defenseman on this team

He's missed a bunch of games for various reasons. Some through legit injury, some because he asked not to go. Four might just be the number of times he actually showed up.
I agree Kreider could go too
pjcas18 : 1/3/2019 10:32 am : link
one of the most frustrating thing about this season for Rangers fans HAS to be that if Kreider and Hayes played like this two years ago their names would be on Lord Stanley IMO. Is it AV? Is it Quinn? Is it pending FA-cy (for Hayes)? or just they took this long to develop? Who knows, but I'd be frustrated that now when they're closer to the bottom than the top they start showing signs they can reach their potential.

In other news...Crosby is ascending the list of my favorite all-time players. I love shit like this. It shows a level of humility that only the great ones really have (combined with being great talents)

Sidney Crosby knows good chirping when he hears iteven if he's the target.

He apparently had a trainer deliver this to a guy sitting next to the penalty box who was lighting him up all game during Pens-Rangers on Wednesday.
