Giants GM doesn’t see a future for Eli Manning: ex-teammate

GFAN52 : 1/3/2019 1:15 pm
Quote:
“He’s saying he doesn’t see a future for Eli,” Herzlich told CBS Sports Radio’s “Taz & The Moose” show Thursday morning. “He wanted to stay as noncommittal as he possibly could, but you could tell he let his emotions kind of get in the way a little bit.”

I'll wait for Bryan "I shave my chest" Kehl and his pink popped collars to log on and give us the scoop.

You're right. Special teams players have zero role or place in The National Football League

FYI- for those that want some comic relief, I've linked the archived thread below. Kehl had did an interview stating that Coughlin didn't like him, shaving his chest, wearing pink shirts, and eating alone. BBI goes ahead and does their best, "Who gives a shit?" "Kehl is a soft pussy." etc. Then Bryan goes ahead and comments on BBI to correct his side of the story. Then the Communal Backtrack commences.
Bryan Kehl defends shaving his chest and wearing pink shirts. - ( New Window )
Is it possible the Giants
mattyblue : 1/3/2019 3:08 pm : link
are trying to put out uncertainty on Eli to see if their are any suitors willing to trade for him? Obviously he has a no trade clause but would it be possible that DG and Eli’s “discussion” the other day was about if he would be willing to play elsewhere? I agree that it seems far fetched but unless Eli retires I still figure he will be here in 2019 with or without a high draft pick.
That was actually Bryan Kehl?

Yeah, it was. Just a funny moment on BBI that is typical. Someone makes a comment about the Giants. BBI lashes out. In this case, Bryan logs on and defends his viewpoint. And the backtracking couldn't happen fast enough. One poster - BigBlueShock early in the thread talks about ball waxing and then 2 posts after Bryan revealed himself, it's all "thanks for stopping by".
I take that back...

He's pretty tight with the Mara's though:

As for John Mara, well, let’s just say he never, ever is going to quibble with Herzlich’s name appearing on the final roster.

“I would like to think I’m close-ish with John, as close as any employee-employer relationship,’’ Herzlich said. “I’ll see him at events and we’ll talk, but it’s not like he’s coming over for dinner or I’m going over his house for dinner.”

Herzlich is more than “close-ish’’ with three of John Mara’s kids — Erin, Chrissy and John Jr. — and also with Danny Mara, a son of Chris Mara, one of John’s younger brothers and the Giants’ senior vice president of player personnel. Erin, Chrissy and Danny all went to Boston College.

He does, he's been in radio for quite some time, working his way up at a glacial pace.

Apparently the guy is a real douchebag in person.
I have know Pete /Taz since i was a kid ,he is a good guy dont go by the character you see on TV when he wrestled lol .His show is actually very good for us that are into Sports/Wrestling .I would rather listen to him and Moose than the haters on CMB

+1. He is basing an opinion on his dealings (i.e., being cut) with DG, and his interpretation of Eli's emotions.

is between those two. The rest is conjecture and it will be worked out. Guys trying yo get media jobs say a lot of things that are half truths based on trying look like top secret info.
Herzlich is speculating
B in ALB : 1/3/2019 4:39 pm : link
That's all. Nothing more. He was asked a question and he answered it. So what?

I'll wait until Stupar weighs in to formulate an opinion.
Isn't Eli sick of this crap?
DavidinBMNY : 1/3/2019 5:29 pm : link
I would be if I was him? Look at the tape? Really? He's been QB for 15 years. They watch game film after every game. I think we all know that the gut decision is already determined, the informed decision is already determined, and it's just triple checking at this point.

If I am Eli I want out. I ask for my release. I want to go to a team that has more balanced talent and win. I wouldn't have time to wait.

At some point enough is enough. How would you like to interview for your job at the end of every year?
wow
giantfan2000 : 1/3/2019 7:03 pm : link
everyone really misinterpreted this article and interview with Herzlich

what Herzlich is saying is He was one of the LAST cuts of Giants this past year .. so Herzlich saw how Gettleman operated and how his own cut went down and after seeing how Gettleman talked about Eli in press conference he is making an educated guess that Eli in on the way out.

But jeez it doesn't take rocket science -- All you have to do is listen to what Gettleman said about Eli when he got the job last year and what he said about Eli this week to know that Eli is on thin ice.

RE: Gettlemen is a little more subtle than that

Giants fans are split on Eli for next season, so whatever DG decides, it will creat an uproar among one side or another.

I think he already knows what he is going to do, and all that stuff about having to watch tape, is just due diligence

He may know what he wants to do, but he does not know that he can have his preference. Underclassmen haven't yet declared for the draft, he doesn't know which teams will lock up free agents or how negotiations with any free agents he may want will go. Or negotiations with Eli over a restructure if that is what he is thinking. of course he is being non-committal at this stage
Some of these posts are too much
lawguy9801 : 1/3/2019 9:43 pm : link
As someone who played for the Giants for the better part of a decade, is it such a stretch to contemplate that, perhaps, Herzlich still has plenty of contacts with the organization and, via a couple of phone calls or text messages, can get the “word on the street” within Giants-land?

Good logical point and I think Herzlich would not say what he said without good reason. He knew it would be controversial .

That's the way it works on BBI.

When a current or ex, player or coach, or even a beat writer shares their INFORMED opinion, and posters don't like what they hear, they immediately try to discredit the source.
