NFT: Manchester City vs Liverpool

Gene : 1/3/2019 2:31 pm
Match kicks off in little over 30 minutes over on NBCSN.

MCFC: Ederson --- Kompany, Danilo, Stones, Laporte --- B. Silva, D. Silva, Fernandinho --- Sterling, Aguero, Sane.

LFC: Alisson --- van Dijk, Lovren, Robertson, Alexander-Arnold --- Wijnaldum, Milner, Henderson --- Firmino, Mane, Salah.

De Bruyne is on the bench for MCFC. Who do you like?
Klopp has been the only one historcially consistent against Pep
moespree : 1/3/2019 2:39 pm : link
He knows how to defeat him on a consistent basis. I'm going with City though, only because I cannot imagine they'd go this meekly into the night. They lose and it's over. Liverpool will not be caught.
That being said...
moespree : 1/3/2019 2:45 pm : link
If Pep continues to insist on overlapping his fullbacks against this Liverpool team than they will be obliterated. You'd have to be out of your mind to intentionally give space to Mane, Firmino and Salah. Yet, he did in both legs of the Champions League last season and never adjusted. If for some strange reason he thinks he can do the same this season than the result won't be any different.
pissed that I'm working and can't watch. Huge game for January.

Lets Go Reds!

Hoping that they can remain the clinical killers they've been all year, especially in the last month.
Liverpool

Fullbacks are such a part of what City does and they are bereft. No speed at the back, no overlapping up front.
Enormous game...

City needs this badly, or the season may be up in smoke to win the league.

This is going to be a barn-burner.
Wow
Go Terps : 1/3/2019 3:21 pm : link
Man City living on the edge. Mane is a good player but he seems to need so many chances to score.

Why isn't De Bruyne in? Is he still battling injury?
This match has opened up!
Gene : 1/3/2019 3:24 pm : link
City clear one off the line literally a ½" away from a LFC goal!

yeah, I think Pep doesn't believe he's fit enough to play at the pace this game will likely have. I expect he'll be a sub tho.
Silva's inability to finish with the right foot
B in ALB : 1/3/2019 3:29 pm : link
is maddening at times. Should have been a first timer right into the back of the net there.
Silva looks near the end
Go Terps : 1/3/2019 3:31 pm : link
Tough to press as Guardiola requires when you have as many miles in the legs as he does.
This is a rough patch...
bw in dc : 1/3/2019 3:33 pm : link
for these EPL teams with so many games squished in around the holidays.
Liverpool is extremely talented...

at diving.
Can't get much closer than that.

Salah is starting to get a reputation. He's drawn some questionable penalties lately

lol, yeah, that's their secret.
Liverpool and diving...
bw in dc : 1/3/2019 3:40 pm : link
was at its apex when Suarez was there. And he's continued his acting chops at Barca. Every time he goes down it looks like he's been shot.

Goooooooooooooooooool!!!!!!!!!
B in ALB : 1/3/2019 3:41 pm : link
Well deserved!
The pit bull to the rescue...
bw in dc : 1/3/2019 3:41 pm : link
How they hell did that get through??
Well, shit
Heisenberg : 1/3/2019 3:41 pm : link
.
That's a hell of a goal from Aguero
Go Terps : 1/3/2019 3:42 pm : link
.
What a striker

KDB

has to come on around the 55-60 minute mark to settle things down in the MF for City.
City is going to need another goal...
bw in dc : 1/3/2019 3:45 pm : link
I think Liverpool is going to hang one on the board eventually.

Agree.
The announcer said that Liverpool
B in ALB : 1/3/2019 3:48 pm : link
has had the better half. I don't agree with that at all. City had much more possession and scored the goal.
Think it was just that
Kyle in NY : 1/3/2019 4:05 pm : link
the goal was slightly against the run of play. Liverpool missed a goal by literally a centimeter.
Saw that one coming
B in ALB : 1/3/2019 4:23 pm : link
1-1

Silva off. Ilkay on. Silva was shit tonight.
Well, game on...
bw in dc : 1/3/2019 4:24 pm : link
This is going to be a great finish.
Saleh hasn't done shit all game
B in ALB : 1/3/2019 4:27 pm : link
Perfect time for him to poach one.
What a beauty from Sane!!!
B in ALB : 1/3/2019 4:29 pm : link
2-1 City!
Sane gives
Gene : 1/3/2019 4:30 pm : link
City the lead with a goal off the post in the 71'!
Every time Sane does something good...
bw in dc : 1/3/2019 4:30 pm : link
I think about the idiocy of Low leaving him off the WC team.
Beautiful
Kyle in NY : 1/3/2019 4:31 pm : link
Rooting for a title race here so I'll pull for City. And it's nice to see some actual clinical finishing as a Chelsea supporter
Offside on the first pass?
Bobby Humphrey's Earpad : 1/3/2019 4:32 pm : link
Looked like it.

Ha, me too. Too busy picking his nuts and sniffing his fingers.
Sterling misses
Gene : 1/3/2019 4:49 pm : link
a chance to ice it.....5 minutes of stoppage time
What a game
Kyle in NY : 1/3/2019 4:53 pm : link
.
Whew.
B in ALB : 1/3/2019 4:59 pm : link
That was a roller coaster. Great win!
Indeed..
bw in dc : 1/3/2019 5:06 pm : link
that was a great game in a great setting.

Once De Bruyne gets back and fit, they are going to chop away.

And I think Mahrez will eventually play an even bigger role somewhere down the line...
Remember Santi Cazorla?
Go Terps : 1/3/2019 6:19 pm : link

That's great to hear. He's a wonderful guy and has had such a terrible run with injuries.
Madrid have looked like trash all season
giantBCP : 1/3/2019 6:55 pm : link
whether it was under Lopetegui, when they weren't getting results, or under Solari, where they've continued to look poor but have been able to pick up points.
What this game told me
moespree : 1/3/2019 9:45 pm : link
Is these two teams are WAY above everyone else in England. And I mean WAY above. Either one of them would have slaughtered anyone else in the league if they played against them the way they both did today. Spurs are not a realistic threat to either of them and are overachieving due to how amazing a manager Pochettino is. But they don't have the depth the keep up.

It's these two and a massive gap.
