Evaluating Saquon's rookie year with Dickerson and James

FatHeadTommy : 1/4/2019 9:11 am
In all his touches, Barkley had ZERO fumbles.

And if I'm not reading the stats wrong,

Dickerson had 13 and James had 8.

Having no fumbles in his rookie season with so many catches and a OL that allowed him to get hit in the backfield so often is really amazing, especially when you see what these other guys did in their rookie seasons.
It is an amazing stat....

I also don't think he had many drops either, which is amazing because he caught 90 balls.
He is a stud.

The complete package.
I find it hard to believe Dickerson fumbled that often.

Where did you get that stat?
There is no such thing as a perfect player

but Saquon Barkley is the closest thing to that.
I think he had only 1, maybe 2 drops

I know there was the one 2 Washington and then he came back a little bit later and made a one-handed circus grab that most WRs would envy to make up for it.

the one @ Washington

RBs are a dime a dozen.

We could have gotten a good one in any round

We could have had Darnold! BTW, Darnold had 5 fumbles ABD 15 INTS. I know it's early, but it is amazing how Saquon is an extremely low risk liability, regarding turnovers.
According to..
FatMan in Charlotte : 1/4/2019 11:36 am : link
ESPN and CBS stats, he was credited with 3 drops this season.

It's on Pro Football Reference (a personal favorite of mine).

Dickerson was a notorious fumbler. He fumbled 14 times in his record breaking 1984 season. He fumbled 3 times in his final playoff game at RFK in the Rams loss to the Redskins in the Wild Card round.

Dickerson was very tall for a RB, a bit over 6'3" and he ran so upright that he gave defenders a big target to hit and jar the ball loose. Of course, he was so fast and strong that he would run guys over and if he turned the corner, not many guys could catch him.

I thought sure that SB coughed it up once,
CRinCA : 1/4/2019 12:49 pm : link
but recovered it himself. I guess that does not technically count as a fumble?.
If the Giants

upgrade their run blocking this guy is going to run for 2000 yards easily.

It counts. Perhaps if that happened, there was a penalty on the play that nullified everything?
i had commented before that the legendary Jim Murray once wrote an
markky : 1/4/2019 1:38 pm : link
article comparing Joe Morris and Dickerson. If you subtract 50 yards of field position for every fumble, Morris' numbers were better.

I read this and my first thought was to how realistic that prediction is instead of how crazy it sounds. Makes me excited for this off-season.
