Justin Tucker - 2018 All-Pro

B in ALB : 1/4/2019 12:17 pm
This makes no sense to me. Tucker finishes the regular season 35/39 in FGs.

Meanwhile, Rosas was 32/33 in FGs.

Rosas missed two kicks all year - Tucker missed five.

I know it's just kickers, but HOW THE FUCK does Tucker get the All-Pro nod and Rosas doesn't?

Reputation - which needs to be reserved for the pro bowl, not all-pro selections. It shouldn't really be a part of the pro-bowl voting either, but I think we've at least accepted that by now.

Tucker is a fantastic kicker who didn't have a fantastic year.

I realize that. It's ridiculous.
maybe KOs factored in?

Rosas was generally very good, Giants coverage team was top 3-5, but he did have several OOBs.

How is Nelson All-Pro 1st team? Didn't he start of real slow?

I guess when Luck when through that consecutive games with out being sacked streak, it looked good for the whole Colts OL.

Was also a 50 yarder on a short week with a quad injury.
And why I rarely take such designations seriously.

He did, but he was awesome down the stretch. I think at least 3 rookies made it, which is amazing.

What a rookie class this was...

I get that when it comes to the Pro Bowl, but the AP All-Pro team is usually a pretty good list to be on. Whenever you hear HOF debates/worthiness or looking back at ones career, you often here how many times he wasan All-Pro.

Odd comment. You don’t take the AP All Pro team seriously? It’s a very prestigious honor and I agree Rosas was robbed.

Colts ended up with 2 All-Pros from their draft class. An incredible performance.

I am a little surprised the voting did not have Saquon as a flex for the 2nd team, but I can't quibble with McCaffrey getting the selection.
I think..
FatMan in Charlotte : 1/4/2019 12:44 pm : link
the All-Pro kicker and punter are usually the guys with the best stat line only.

Perhaps Tucker made the most FG's?
I don’t take it all that seriously given the absurd omissions

through all the years I’ve been a fan..I take it more seriously than the pro bowl, but that’s not saying all that much

made the most FGs. Tucker was second.
It's not a FG percentage award
HomerJones45 : 1/4/2019 12:49 pm : link
If it was Rosas would have been edged out by Gould.

Tucker's kickoffs average was higher, he had more TB and fewer kicks out of bounds and he scored more points. He is an excellent all around kicker.

Rosas had a great year and I wouldn't argue if the positions were reversed, but it is not outlandish that Tucker is 1st team and Rosas is 2nd team.
Hmmm..
FatMan in Charlotte : 1/4/2019 12:50 pm : link
then there goes that idea!!

I think it's great that they snubbed Saquon this year. It its going to even make him more motivated and better. Watch him next year lead the lead in total yards, rushing yards and TDs. It would not surprise me one bit.
dont forget Tucker

Tucker had a good year

high percentage, 2nd in FGs made, 2nd in 50+ yarders. I think Rosas was flawless, but Tucker had a great year. So did Myers from the gets, 33/36, most 50+ in the league. There's a couple other guys up there as well statistically. Tough call for the voters.
It's the AP, an organization dominated by complete fools.

You cannot take seriously anything the Associated Press says about anything. Ever.

Tucker was 10th in FG%, below 90%.
I hope Saquon has an even bigger year next year,
CT Charlie : 1/4/2019 1:45 pm : link
but it's unlikely. Other teams may game plan more for him, and if our OL is better, we may end up passing more.
I'd rather Saquon

Minor nitpick, he was 9th. 89.7% is still a high percentage. The second most accurate FG kicker of all time (since Tucker is #1) sits at 87.7% for perspective. 4 of the guys in front of him had fewer than 22 attempts, nearly half of what Tucker kicked.

That's the weird thing. Tucker was mostly great this year. His only missed FG that mattered at all was an incredible block by Denzel Ward off the edge, in a game the Browns won by three points. That one wasn't Tucker's fault at all. But the missed PAT against New Orleans was massive: Down by one, 24 seconds left, and Tucker flat-out chokes, after hitting 222 straight extra points. Strange kick too: started out right down the middle, then just took off wide right.
