The Benefit to the Giants of disclosing their plans for Eli.

NONE, that I can think of.

And there are plenty of reasons NOT to, which are
apparent if you think about it.

Believe they ve made the decision internally?

I m not sure they have.
Perhaps the Giants aren't disclosing

what was said in the meeting because they don't want to show their hand. If Eli is seriously considering retiring or if he wants to move on to another team then the Giants will obviously be desperate to find a replacement either short term (Free agency) or long term (draft).

In fact we should not even talk about it on BBI anymore.

just to be safe...
Here's a wild idea

What if DG told Eli what he told the rest of the world Wednesday.

That until all of the cards are dealt, a decision on what role Eli will play next year is still undecided.

That would be an honest thing to tell Eli and apparently he took it like the mensch he has been all of his career.

Of course they haven't. Unless Gettleman is a massive liar, theres a ton of self-scouting that goes on now.
There is almost certainly nothing to disclose at this point

There is a ton of film to evaluate, as well as free agents and draft eligible QBs to evaluate. I would expect none of that is done yet.

The plan is most likely stick with Eli, but that will depend on what happens on draft day. If they fall in love with a guy and can get him, it will depend how ready he is whether he starts the season or not.

There is likely no secret plan that is not being divulged.

Haha.....thanks for the laugh on this one.
We may know sooner than later.

On March 17th Eli is due a bonus of 5 million. The Giants will have to make some sort of decision by that point. Releasing Eli has 5 million less reasons after March 17th.
I would think

that the Giants know what they want to happen. They know whether they want Eli back. They know all the vet possibilities (that includes backups they might be able to poach or trade for). They have a pretty good idea on the draft candidates (this area is still fluid).

Now it's just a dance to make happen what they want to happen, and adjust plans as the dance goes on.
if they haven't been evaluating Eli and potential replacements all season, they've dropped the ball big time.
