The Colts started out 1-5 and the Texans 0-3. This is why you concentrate on game to game and not the stat histories of who makes the playoffs after an X start and who doesnt. I dont take that seriously. In that moment, in that year, is how I always approach it
Should be four good games this weekend. Ive heard that Indy may have the best O-line in the NFL this season; theyll be tested today for sure. Two good teams that know each other well. Could be the game of the weekend. Cant wait!

It's also why I insist that games in week 2 and week 3 are never "must-wins."

Agreed
Need the Texans and Chargers for my playoff fantasy football league
and its been beaten to death in the sports world. That said if you are starting 0-3 Id say must win is pretty damn accurate for game #4. Statistics and the history of the game prove it. Theres always an outlier but its extremely rare.
If the AFC wasn't on notice about this Colts team before, they might be opening their eyes now.
This team can score points and they have a defense, too.
Luck is fantastic. They've been in playoff mode for weeks and they look infinitely more prepared for this right now than the Texans do.
HOU should be able to make this a game, it's still super early. But I really love what the Colts did with their team this past offseason. Really tremendous job by their front office.
Dave aren't you on record as saying good QB's don't need good OL's...?
What're you even talking about? Luck looks fantastic again. Period. His shoulder/arm finally isn't an issue for him. Man, you guys are beyond triggered and bring this shit into EVERY thread. It's hilarious at this point.
But seriously. So happy for the kid. Taught him in high school. Was victimize in Seattle and now is having a monster year for the Colts. His insertion to the OL has been a huge success for their turn around.
capitalize on this early start. Jump up 21-0, never look back or even come close to letting the Texans back in the game.
If this were the Giants, Pat "I don't know what I am doing" Shermer would somehow give up the lead and the other team would win by 10 and the Giants would be struggling to score again.
The Colts should buy Josh McDaniels a nice gift for bailing
Texans gotta put some points on the board here. Would be nice if this was a close game. Thus far it's been very one-sided. Time for Watson to put a drive together.

They invested three 1st round picks and a 2nd into the line.
Jay, man they look good.
Our line would look great also if Reese picked Tunsil instead of Apple, Travis Frederick or Kyle Long instead of Pugh, and Trai Turner instead of Richburg.
Just drafting OL is not as important as drafting the right OL.
Wow is right. It's been too long since I've seen a Giants one and I almost forgot what a great one looks like.
E I want the scouting Dept
They've done a great job getting the right guys.
It's pretty amazing to see they went from giving up the most sacks last year to the least this year. I've seen teams or units make big improvements from one year to the next but I'd be hard pressed to recall one going from 32nd in the league to 1st.
Throw by Watson. The playcall was fine and they had the zone beat.
It was a terrible play call. You can't go empty backfield there and allow them to drop 8 into coverage with the end line as another defender. I don't mind the pass so much but at least have a threat of the run there on 4th and 1.
I know I'm probably setting myself up to be stupidly wrong and that it's almost sacrilegious to do this, but I actually think the Pats might go one and done this year.

Arc, I don't think that's outrageous at all. This is a pretty weak Pats team.

They're the worst of the bye teams and I'd definitely take the Bears and Chargers over them on a neutral field. Would probably take the Ravens and Colts over them as well but more of a coinflip. I'm not even penciling them in as the AFC rep.
Having a discussion with my bro while watching this game
and he asked if I could go back to the 2018 draft, would you approve a trade that swapped 1s with the Browns plus get a 2 from them and a 3rd in 2020. He said he would if the Giants ended up with Nelson in round 1, and Nick Chubb and Hernandez in round 2 (assuming Browns used the 2nd overall pick on Saquon).
Although it would give us a fantastic interior on the OL of Hernandez and Nelson, I still like Saquon too much to say yes to that. Thoughts?

Bears? But no mention of Saints?

Easily take the other 3. Easier said than done with the benefit of hindsight but it's not really close.

I agree - but, it's the Pats... and someone is going to have to beat them in Foxboro to get to the AFCC game, so who the heck knows. But my gut does tell me that this is finally the year the Pats fall short of the AFCC game.
It would be the first time the Pats weren't in that game since 2010. Crazy.
game is more proof that football is still won and lost in the trenches. Luck has been great, but he's had a ton of time to throw. His OL has been awesome.

And their line was trash not too long ago. We can do the same.

Crazy stat they showed this week leading into the game that Luck had thrown the 2nd most passes in the NFL and was sacked the fewest. 635 to 18.
Hits and hurries stats I don't have. But that ratio is ridiculous.
With a projected $121M, the #Colts have the most cap space heading into 2019, giving this young, talented team a load of options to keep their core intact, and improve where needed.

LeVeon Bell?
They don't need Bell. And they don't need the risk of a me-first guy taking over the locker room

Depends how you see it, I personally think Bell had every right to do what he did. The Steelers played games with him too long and were cheap.
Thought that was gonna be a better game. Thought Watson had something to prove in this game; I dont think this will be his last chance, but he didnt prove anything today.
will franchise Clowney but they have some work to do on their roster. Their offensive line isnt much better than ours. They also have age creeping in on the secondary of that defense. They could really use another RB option and some better play at TE.
Today was the day to take advantage of Watson's legs with more designed runs, instead he ran the same gameplan that they do in the regular season. That's necessary and smart then but in a single elimination tourney you should be doing everything in your power to win and he never adjusted.
take when Booger said that JJ Watt isn't paid to bat down passes, but to get sacks and that he has to do better when the stat came on the screen that Watt has the most batted passes in the last three years - by a wide margin.
I already had said this would be the throwaway game of teh weekend - but I should have realized it would be because that crew is abominable

How do you win football games...YOU DOMINATE UP FRONT.
Not like its some big secret but its something the Giants have neglected for years.
Jim Irsay sucks. The only good that came from televising Irsays speech is Dan Snyder just said, Thats what my team needs. They need me giving a motivational speech. Already winning the offseason.

Not like its some big secret but its something the Giants have neglected for years.
The Giants didn't "neglect" the offensive line - they blew assets on bad players. The investments were there both in cap dollars and draft picks. Reese and Gettleman just managed to strike out swinging on most of them. Hernandez looks like the first one that is actually going to pan out in quite some time.
Omameh was an awful signing.. I'm not that mad about Solder, it was sort of necessary. But we wound up in that conundrum to begin with because we whiffed on Flowers.

Yes Flowers was a whiff, but the only really stab they took at getting a foundation player on the line the last few years (prior to this year)

Well, they also spent a 1 on Pugh... a 2 on Richburg. Neither guy got a 2nd contract here.

You did well to hang in there. I couldn't take it any more and put the broadcast on mute in the 3rd quarter. God, those three are awful.
It's also why I insist that games in week 2 and week 3 are never "must-wins."

11 have made it after going 0-3.

Insane pass and that moron Booget craps on the MLB.
Colts offensive line playing very well early.
Reich is a heck of a coach.

Definitely keeps his job. The available pool of HC candidates is thin. If he were available he'd shoot to the top.

That was the first ever NFL game my daughter saw
1993 damn I'm getting old. Sure doesn't seem that long ago.
Can't take a sack there...
Hat tip to Sy who really liked him and talked him up as a solid pick in the draft.
Houston needs to score on this drive.............

Awesome accuracy by Luck.
Had 16 sacks. Only Donald had more.
