I'd do the same thing if I were him. His father is already in prison there. He was charged as a terror group member. Enes would have a target on his back there - he shouldn't go.
He should get off this team, though... the sooner we can unload this dude, the better.
I think he is nuts but that doesn't mean he is wrong to be fearful Â
Turkey's president is nuts. For those not familiar with him, below is an article discussing 10 distrubing facts about President Erdogan. Link - ( New Window )
our president thinks very highly of him, here is a direct quote. “It’s a great honor and privilege — because he’s become a friend of mine — to introduce President Erdogan of Turkey,” Trump told reporters. “He’s running a very difficult part of the world. He’s involved very, very strongly and, frankly, he’s getting very high marks.”
Erdogan had his goon security force attack protesters who were American citizens on American soil and got away with it. Luckily the attacks were caught on camera and the US has banned him from bringing his own security on future visits. link - ( New Window )
RE: The Turkish president can't be that bad a guy Â

Turkey has gotten close to Russia in the past year
has been degrading for some time. There's a brain drain going on there, with a lot of people leaving because how close his regime has shifted to a full authoritarian system.
Lots of bad going on in his life, but why would he be in significantly more danger in London, than in the US?
Seems like a lot of people aren’t up on current events Link - ( New Window )
and that couldn't happen in the US? I don't get it.
Why would he be in significantly more danger there, than here? It's not like the team is playing in the Middle East somewhere,
Eli - Putin has made clear his ability to kill his enemies in Great Britain with impunity. A couple of different means have been used. Not saying I am equating Erdogan with Putin, but they are friendly. Banter is not irrational to think he is at greater risk in London than New York.
is a moron for opening his mouth. If you feel the need to be publicly outspoken about a psychopath, then don’t piss and moan about the consequences. Or, get the fuck off twitter.

Hey, if someone wants to speak out about their beliefs, go for it. However, if I know that the person I’m going to speak out against has no problem killing me or throwing me in jail, I’m probably going to keep my mouth shut.

If you value your life and freedom ... sure I think Kanter values his life and freedom. What he's finding is that his freedom is being taken away.
killed here? I am surprised Trump is cozying up to Erdogon, one would have expected him to have a take back Constantinople attitude towards him, but I guess he doesn't want to start WWIII.

how is it in the least bit surprising? Trump loves authoritarians and dictators, because he wishes he could be one.
There is not one thing surprising about it at all.

Kanter said that London is loaded with “spies” for whatever that’s worth. No idea why spies couldn’t also be patrolling the US but Kanter sure seems to think that London is much more dangerous and he’s probably a bit closer to the situation than we are
google "Putin murders in Great Britain" - for whatever reason, foreign authoritarians seem to literally get away with murder over there. I realize Erdogan is a different foreign authoritarian than Putin, but I don't blame Kanter for being edgy. For those who say it could happen just as easily here - for whatever reason, it's been happening there and not here, and I'm sure that makes a difference in Kanter's mind.

You just can’t fucking help yourself. Nobody cares about what you think of Trump or anyone else. Every time you show up on a thread you do your best to get it nuked. Enough already

Your one-liners are absolutely hilarious. Please, keep them coming.
There is a place for activism and opposition to these horrible situations and I fully support that. Writing a handful of tweets on social media while fully understanding how it will endanger your life in this situation just seems foolish.
about it, but this Lakers team without LeBron is absolutely deplorable. I know Kuzma is out too, but there's not one player on the roster outside of LeBron and Kuzma worth anything. If the Pelicans trade Davis to the Lakers for the garbage the Lakers would give them they need their heads examined.

The team that makes the most sense are the Celtics. Jaylen Brown, Hayward, Rozier, firsts. That's a compelling package.

they are the lakers, they can do no wrong in the eyes of the media
Lebron coming crushed Ingram’s growth as well- as
Lebron doesn’t like him
Kuzma is a chucker
The media is dying to pretend the lakers can get Davis- the lakers package is awful
The media also pretends that lebron is not a massive pain In the ass to accommodate on your team.

Try to point out killings in the US carried out by foreign governments. Because if you look at the UK, there are several just involving Russia - including a couple high-profile poisonings. It's a lot more difficult to do it here. Could it happen? Sure. Is Kanter likely right to feel unsafe abroad? Yep.

When he quashed the attempted coup a few years back the islamists were out in force to back him up.
Plus, in squashing the coup it appeared that he had been tipped off and was waiting with a trap essentially.
But I believe Kantor has spoken out, so that's the motive.
Not sure but per capita erdogan has jailed the most journalists of any nation? Fired thousands of state employees and closed media all over?
