I'm setting up my mother's "new" computer and she has been using Outlook Express as her mail server on her old one and she wanted the new one to be exactly as the old one (which blew up). The domain name is & lt;....& gt;@stny.rr.com (as in: southern tier new york. road runner)
Her computer isn't "new", but new to her.She wanted to stay with Windows 7 and the Microsoft Office package is from 2003 (Ver 11 I think). She chose to use MS-Outlook as her mail proxy.
Under the advanced tab, I set the incoming server - POP3 port number to: 995
and the outgoing server - SMTP port number to: 587 as suggested by the roadrunner website.
Here's the rub: under the regular tab I have to fill in 2 boxes. The first says "Incoming mail server (POP3)" followed by a box that should say "POP", "POP3" or "POP-SERVER" or something like that. I remember from a decade ago when I set it up (while the Time Warner dude was there) and I think all I did was type "POP3" in the incoming box and "SMTP" in the outgoing mail server box. I've tried every combination in the boxes and nothing seems to work.
Would appreciate any help with this. Thanks ever so much
Windows 10 isn’t that different in desktop mode. Now’s the time to change.

As well you should. I hope you get everything up and running for her.
