NFL Network just aired a segment on it because it was 30 years ago last month & obviously the participants were the Eagles & Bears, who are playing today.
A bit before my time, but it looked wild. I don't even know how Lundquist & Bradshaw were even able to call the game from the booth.
Only going by announcers. Weirdest game ever saw
You saw hardly nothing on the TV. The fog was so thick that you mostly just listened to the announcers. At times if you squinted your eyes, you could see a faint image.
Good thing the Bears had a 17 to 9 lead as the fog rolled in the 2nd quarter. As there wasn't much scoring afterwards.
The announcers probably had a bit of a better view because the human eye tends to be better than camera lenses in such situations.
It was clear for the first part of the game and then the fog rolled in. Eagle fans insist it is why the Eagles lost even though they were losing when the fog rolled in and they always lost in the playoffs under Buddy Ryan. Typical Eagle fan excuse making.
I remember it well. Apparently it was no better live than it was on camera. Lonk

I was still crusty and angry over how that (nyg) regular season ended. I hated both Philly and Chicago equally back then, so I honestly didnít care who won that shit game. But what a weird game it was...

It was creepy how it rolled in like that I had lived in Chicago for a few years and had never seen it come in so thick like that.
I was surprised they didnít delay the game. It was that bad
Like several have mentioned, you really had to rely on the announcers to tell what was going on in the game. I remember one instance where there was something along the lines of " pass is complete to.............someone".
Didnt realize the whole game was on Youtube. Added the link for anyone interested. Fog Bowl Broadcast

cold at Soldier Field. Once the fog came in you could only see the fog. Every once in awhile you could see a little more but not enough to know what was happening on the field. I can't remember what happened on punts. Probably because I never was able to see it. They should have stopped the game.

I remember watching it and barely seeing a damn thing. I remember seeing Randall Cunningham clearly like in the 2nd quarter thinking it was clearing up but it just got worse. I still watched though, it felt like watching history.
that as long as the refs could see the pylons from the opposite endzone, they could keep playing.
Now, being neon orange helped, I'm sure, but I still doubt they could really see them......
p.s. F**k the Eagles....
because the Eagles were a far better team and they were going all the way with that defense and that asshole Buddy Ryan
without that fog, they murder the Bears
'so this is what it's like to watch the radio on TV'. It was bad, and I was convinced those green fucks would find a way to eke out a win.
