First time a team has seen Lamar for a second time. Can they make adjustments? If the Chargers get a couple score lead, can Lamar throw the ball effectively enough to bring them back?

Im looking forward to this one

Not too worry. Rivers will choke. If not this game then the next one

No fan of the Ravens but they bring a different game so itll be interesting to see how Chargers handle it 2nd time around. Browns had some success in 2nd half with DL shifts before the snap. Can Chargers force Jackson to throw?
Go Bolts!

Two teams that left a long time fan base. Not really a fan of either but would rather see San Diego - er - LA - than Bodymore.

No real dog in this fight - we'll see how LAC adjusted now that they've seen Jackson once already.

I like Lamar, so I'd like to see Baltimore win.

This is probably the one I had/have the most interest in this weekend.
Everybody picking Ravens
KWALL2 : 1/6/2019 12:58 pm : link
I like Chargers here.

Mike Williams from Chargers is a big key. Chargers need to really bump up his snap count today. Stop playing the other Williams and get this guy the ball.

If they put Carr on him hell get open all day. Rivers has to get him the ball this time. He blew a few open shots last time to Williams with Carr getting beat.

I like the Chargers offense to do a lot more here and score 27+.

It really makes the margin for error very small.

By turning the ball over and presumably letting LAC get in here for a score, they're going to be a TD behind early which puts them in an immediate hole even larger than the obvious point deficit. They're built to get ahead and stay ahead... not trade points or catch up.

Next possession will be big for Baltimore. If they can't at least push FP back into LAC territory, they might be in trouble.

But the offense can only succeed in the presence of an excellent D.

Jackson lone role should be to protect the ball and run clock.

And with a poor defense, this offense would be atrocious

is a rookie with about a half a season of real playing experience. Right now, he's just being asked to be a game manager as the Ravens rely on their defense and running game. Whether he can become more is an unknown. The problem is that he isn't managing this game very well. It's also difficult to win in the playoffs with a game manager at QB unless all the other phases of your team are truly outstanding.

Jackson isn't ready for this.

Its a 2 score game, Ravens have shown nothing to hint they can overcome this.
Plus Chargers have the ball to start off the 2nd half.

Why? Baltimore has the best D in the NFL, Rivers has made bineheaded plays at the end of halves forcing throws and turning it over, and the Ravens don't have the Chiefs O. Just take the points and time of possession.

I say that, because I used to hate Rivers. He's grown on me over the years, I guess.

It's the postseason. Win anyway you can. It's why I laugh at anyone who says the Giants only or mostly won SB 42 because of the defense. Defense was great in that postseason, but Eli and the offense contributed alot that postseason, as well. As long as you get the W in the postseason, doesn't matter how you get it.

He should have done it after half. Baltimore isn't out of this game with their defense - but they're not even going to make up a 9 point difference playing offense this way.

This game is still hanging in the balance. It sounds silly calling for Joe Flacco like this given that he's basically sucked for a while now, but he can throw the football and knows what he's doing. They have to make that switch.

Exactly, ball was not loose before hitting the ground

I think that should be a fucking fumble and a touchdown for Baltimore. Even though I hate Baltimore.

I think the whole rule about the ground causing a fumble is bogus. The ground doesnt cause a fucking fumble. The ball carrier causes a fumble when he hits the ground because he cant hold onto the fucking football. I think you should have to possess the football until the play is absolutely completed.

The referee
MookGiants : 1/6/2019 3:29 pm : link
can't error on the side of caution and let the play play out.

They can't do that because of how fucking awful replay is. Even plays that need to be overturned, they often don't overturn them.

Replay is broken and it's only getting worse. The idea that they should stick with the call on the field almost always is mind numbing.

I agree the ball was being bobbled but wouldn't the call have been Ravens ball at the 1 since they clearly took possession after the fumble?
if you want the officials
MookGiants : 1/6/2019 3:31 pm : link
to let the play go in those circumstances and then fix it on replay, then you have to do away with sticking with the call on the field in most situations. If you're going to tell the official to let that play play out then you can't say "There has to be 100% conclusive evidence to overturn"

I have simply never liked the rule that the ground cant cause a fumble. Ultimately, it is a misnomer anyway. Technically the ground isnt causing the fumble. The player is responsible for the fumble because they lost the football, just as it is when a helmet or a hand or a shoulder pad knocks the ball loose.

Have always disliked that rule.

Hindsight is 20/20.

People were just as hopeful that Tebow would "learn to pass" in the NFL because he was a great leader and could make plays with his legs. He got some wins paired with a great defense. Jackson could very well "learn to pass" but the hype and odds are about the same.

They could just go to one of them. It's the new model.

If the Ravens had stuck with Flacco they never would have made it here.

The entire offense (Jackson included) and special teams shit the bed. Flacco wouldn't have done any better with the way LA's pass rush was dominating.

Point 1 is correct - they'd have been eliminated weeks ago.

Point 2 - but it is likely that Flacco could complete a couple passes.

I disagree. Rivers has looked like shit - missing open receivers, missed an easy TD throw (the one incorrectly not overturned on replay)... the only thing one can say is he didn't fuck up what his Defense has done for him today by turning it over.

He'll need to be 10x better next week in Foxborough

They are remarkably similar in terms of hype and projection. Tebow actually had a better average per carry as a QB. And once again many are hoping for a runner to learn how to pass in the NFL and revolutionize the QB position.

I don't think Rivers stunk as much as they had a very obvious game plan to run, run, run mainly because the Ravens D gave Rivers fits in the previous game. I do think if they can properly sort out the Oline and the pass rush (which will still take an unbelievably epic FA and draft period) you could potentially do what Dallas has done which is basically make the supporting cast so good that so-so QB play is acceptable.

Gettleman talking about how competitive they were in games was absurd. If that's evidence of this team heading in the right direction then the Giants are even more screwed than originally thought.

The o-line needs to be fixed but fixing the pass rush and QB situation is much more important at this point.
So all we need is a QB

To throw 4 yard passes. Hope the defense drops and INT or two. Have a defense that just destroyed the other teams QB and have a kicker makes 5 FGs... and we are set.

and QB play. Still the biggest two keys to winning in this league. That's precisely why the Giants are no closer to competing for titles than they were at this time last year because they haven't filled either one of those holes at all.

QB play had NOTHING to do with this game. You kidding me? They both stunk.

I don't think Rivers stunk as much as they had a very obvious game plan to run, run, run mainly because the Ravens D gave Rivers fits in the previous game. They basically asked him to do very little, what they asked him to do (make the occasional 3rd down and don't turn the ball over) he did reasonably well.

Huh? What??? Oh great he didnt turn it over. Except for a big dropped INT. And red zone failures and wasted field position.

He didnt play well. He didnt hurt them. But his defense and kicker were the stars of the game.

Christ, if that's your fucking criteria you should be fucking slating Eli on a weekly basis.

You're ok with the garbage we've seen from the Giants since Hurricane Sandy? i'm certainly not.

Saquon Barkley highlight videos don't change the fact that this team is no closer to competing for titles than they were at this time last year.

So-so QB play isn't going to win titles. The Cowboys are still playing but I want a better QB than Dak.

The future of the Giants defense is probably in worse shape than any team in the league. Add in that the QB situation has zero future right now and I dont know how anyone thinks this team is headed in the right direction. I dont think this is a year to get a QB so I hope they get a pass rusher in round 1.

I dont see any way this team competes next year. I hope ownership and the front office realizes that and doesn't do anything short sighted. Get a pass rusher, get rid of the dead weight, and get a QB next year.

Lets be honest, it was pretty much garbage time and the Chargers dropped two easy INTs. He was awful

I know you hate the guy, and that's fine. I don't entirely disagree, but we don't know how much improvement he can make.

Having said that, garbage time or not, Jackson is going to feel a lot better about what he did in the 4th quarter versus being benched for a guy that won't even be on the team next year...........

They haven't gone backward since taking over, but they are not any closer to competing for a title than they were at this time last year.

Saquon Barkley is a terrific player, but him having an amazing season and the team still being absolutely awful is more evidence of the impact a running back actually has on a teams win/loss record.

I want to compete for titles. Youtube highlight videos mean nothing to me. I dont think they are building this team properly. The d-line might be the worst in the entire sport and there is no future currently at QB

This Ravens Chargers game was one of the most interesting strategically in recent years, with Harbaugh taking the Jackson option scheme into a contest against a high quality defense.

Did the Ravens difficulties in the first 3 quarters prove anything? I came out of it skeptical the idea would work in the NFL playoffs, despite the Ravens miscues, which muddied the pool and made it difficult to attribute the lack of success to the scheme.

Eli's inability to move whatsoever and going down immediately when anyone gets near him doesn't have a negative impact on the offensive line because Lamar Jackson had a poor game today against a great pass rush?

Eli is finished being a good QB in this league. The Giants should make him take a significant paycut or tell him to hit the road. I dont care if they have a QB that isnt as good as Eli next year. They're going no where with him anyways. So if he doesnt want to take a paycut then release him. Use that money on a player who will actually be a part of the team when they have a chance to be good again.

If they extend him and impact the cap on future years then they are out of their minds. What has Eli done to deserve an extension right now? Paycut or leave. Thanks for the terrific career but its over without a paycut.

is this teams ceiling next year. And that would take a lot of breaks.

The front office needs to be realistic about what this team is going to be next year. If they're delusional and make win now moves it will make the rebuild longer than it needs to be.

Use this draft to build the defense which has holes everywhere and the offensive line. Suck next year and get a QB. That's going in the right direction.

Even during regular season threads that have nothing to do with the Giants. If you give another QB a compliment, some folks will come into the thread and question why your complimenting that QB.

Like, heaven forbid another player on another team gets a compliment on here, and if it's another QB? The insecurity REALLY kicks in.

They don't need to use it on a QB. They can use that money on any number of holes they have elsewhere on the team. There are gigantic holes nearly everywhere.

They will suck with or without Eli Manning next year. I'd rather suck without him if he's going to be taking up 20+ million of the cap

Eli against that pass rush would have turned it over multiple times.

Rivers played a good game for what they needed him to do today.

Jackson played poorly, Rivers did not.

defense was one of the, if not the best in the league this year. He didn't turn the ball over once. Mike Williams had a killer drop on a perfect pass that halted a drive too. Another drive was halted by a fumble.

If he played poorly today, then you honestly have no idea what you're watching. If that was playing poorly, what would you call some of Eli's games in the last 3 years?

didn't play great because Baltimore has a terrific pass rush, and the weather conditions.

He also protected the ball.

Anyone who believes this team is on the right path is delusional. They'll be on the right path when they start filling the two gigantic holes at QB and pass rushers. This year looks like a good one to get a pass rusher.

Rivers managed that game very well. Zero turnovers against a terrific defense on the road.

Beckham and Barkley can stand on their heads every game, but it's not going to matter unless the real problems on this team get addressed.

Lol. Your crusade is sad now.

Its absolutely pathetic man. Mook comes on every thread to regurgitate the same thing over and over and over and over again. Im honestly curious as to what purpose it serves? Does he think if he bitches and complains about not having a franchise QB and premium position players enough that its going to speed up the process?

so the same people can come on here over and over and tell us how Jackson isnt any good or how Eli isn't the problem and they can continue to do that, but if you tell them they are wrong repeatedly you're wrong.

Same people thought this team would be good this season. They continue to believe this team is heading in the right direction.

Why is it ok to repeat the same stance 100000 times if you're drinking the Giants kool aid but not if you have a problem with the direction of this franchise.

When the GM of this team has a press conference and thinks this team is headed in the right direction its a problem. This team is stuck in neutral. The sooner they realize it, the better. Part of the problem is the fans. John Mara absolutely pays attention to the fan base. If he didn't he wouldn't have totally botched the way the Eli situation was handled after he was benched last year. He may not let it influence decision making often, but he definitely did last year and it hurt the direction of the franchise.

You've posted ad nauseum about not taking a QB. Even after you've watched Barkley play.

And because we didn't pick a QB, you keep saying we don't have a plan and are going to suck for years to come.

Yet if we had drafted a QB, we'd likely have been worse this year and no more reason for optimism.

certainly couldn't get any worse. They improved when there was no pressure on them whatsoever, and the second there was pressure on them, they completely pissed down their legs and blew the Eagles game.

This team has been rotten for a long time now. What they did after their season was over by Halloween doesn't excite me. They won 5 games and what, 3 of the 5 were against backup QB's.

I'd have been more optimistic if they were 2-14 and had a better pick. They won a few meaningless games. The defense is a total train wreck.
Why shouldnt we be optimistic.

Cause we dont have a QB on the roster that may or may not be good for 10 years?

Or maybe people are because we are rebuilding and have addressed some needs, will address some more in the offseason, etc....

No one, I mean no one is thinking we are SB contenders next year. We have to overcome 7 years of putrid drafting of our prior regime. Rome wasnt built in a day.

If you didnt get excited aboout seeing SB be a stud. EE play well at the end of the year, BJ Hill shine this year. Jenkins being a top flight corner, Hernandez looking like a 10 year+ starters....

Then I cant help you.

For all we will find out, not a single QB drafted last year will end up being a franchise QB. We can already confidently say that Barkley is a generational player.

All things remaining equal, your optimism is based on nothing more than hope, which should at least give you enough pause not to post the same fucking bullshit over and over again.

You can build a team by getting a RB before a QB. In fact, there are a couple teams right now that have done that and are doing quite well.

would have been a loss if they started Winston instead of Fitz. 49ers had their 3rd string QB playing. Bears without Trubisky. Redskins with a guy off the street.

2 wins against 3rd string qb's (49ers and Redskins) Another against a backup. And another against the Bucs who threw away the game by starting Fitz. Winston shredded the defense when he came in.

That's the sticking point.

You do not need a franchise quarterback to win anymore.

some of the people who exaggerated the wind strength today seemingly never cared that the Tennessee game was played in a cold, driving rain storm. You'd swear it was ideal conditions for a QB to throw in.

But consistency isn't really a strong suit. I saw that good QB's don't miss the playoffs 6 out of 7 years and yet Rivers is being talked about as being an MVP candidate and he actually went 7 out of 8 years.

Now, the Giants supposedly don't have a QB, or a lottery ticket, whatever the fuck that means, but if we went 5-11 with Barkley we can apparently do it without him too.

If Darnold busts, the Jets are screwed and you are going to have to wait 3 to 4 years to see if that happens. I really don't see how that would give me more optimism.

that to have consistency you need a franchise QB.

The Jaguars didn't have that and fell off of a cliff this year. Tennessee ditto. Eagles were 9-7.

The teams that are consistently competing for titles are the ones that have franchise QB's.

Sean : 1/6/2019 6:04 pm : link
it would have been a bold strategy going Nelson & Hernandez in the first 2 rounds. I think the Giants would have been a better team had they done this & theyd be set at guard for the next ten years.

I think this also aligns more with keeping Eli which was the plan.

Regardless, Barkley is a great talent & they need to figure out a way to win with him. This team has been years away since 2013. Enough is enough.

that to have consistency you need a franchise QB.

The Jaguars didn't have that and fell off of a cliff this year. Tennessee ditto. Eagles were 9-7.

The teams that are consistently competing for titles are the ones that have franchise QB's.

Yet, they sucked until the non-franchise Super Bowl MVP backup took over.

Like it or not Mariota, Winston, Smith, Rivers, Eli, Luck are also "franchise" QBs - all 1st round QBs.

it would have been a bold strategy going Nelson & Hernandez in the first 2 rounds.

There's also passing on Chubb. Pairing him with Hill or another young pass rusher would have been a wiser course than what we actually did.

There were three or four possible approaches that would have been better.

I tend to agree. Love Barkley but my conviction was if you don't like a QB then get the hell out of that #2 spot...

We can't really hypothesize this way. If we had taken Nelson instead, it would have created a domino effect that changed the way the rest of the draft played out. It would mean Barkley was still on the board, so someone within the next few picks would have passed on whoever they took, taken him instead, and the ripple effect could easily have resulted in Hernandez off the board at our 2nd pick spot.

Dallas spent the 4th overall pick on Elliott and their entire offense runs through him. This can work with Barkley. There are different ways to get to the same place and it can happen in different orders.

The offensive line and pass rush have to be things we go all out on this offseason.

No matter what, NYG had too many holes to effectively fill in one year. The order we fill them is less important than who we fill them with. Try to get the best players rather than focus so much on which holes are being filled first.
I hope this offseason leads to some bolder/tougher decisions
Sean : 1/6/2019 6:22 pm : link
The Giants have made one tough decision in the last few years and they backed off it (benching Eli). This franchise is fear based right now since the Manning backlash. Its time to make tough decisions:

1. Moving on from Eli
2. Consider trading Beckham
3. Let Landon Collins walk

These are all very difficult decisions, none more so than Eli. These are HARD decisions, but its a business & the business model has failed. If the Gettleman makes some tough decisions which piss some fans off, thats a good thing.

You know what would be the easy decisions & consistent with the last 6 years?

1. Keep Eli for another year
2. Keep Beckham
3. Sign Landon Collins to a long term deal

Unfortunately, I think the latter is more likely.

Is generational!! Mook and Terps a match made in stupid heaven. People might have wanted to actually listen to Gettlemans presser. 1. If not for the fact that he saw Barkley as a generational player ( he was right) he would not have discounted the QBs. He stated hes under no delusion about what the team is and what needs to be fixed. Primarily the OL and pass rush. People here act like they needed to draft a QB every rd or the team is an epic fail. Oh and just wave your Harry Potter wand and all the other problems would be fixed.
This teams drafts sucked for more than half a decade. It will take awhile. The locker room is better, theres is stability at many positions. They got a keeper in Hernandez for the OL (something Reese was unable to do), there are promising young players on defense. Its a pretty darn good job for 1 off season. But he didnt take QB so everything else is worthless- whatever you guys are brutal.
Letting Collins go

is not smart. He is a player who was asked to do things he isnt good at because the rest of the defense sucked.

Dave on the UWS : 1/6/2019 6:28 pm : link
the business model from before this year is NOT RELEVANT!!! You do know this is a different management team right? You know how that works right? Why do you think DG gutted the roster - only 13 guys remain from 2017. You can add Vernon, Jenkins and maybe Ogletree and Martin to those tough decisions. Im confident he and Shurmur know what needs to be done with this roster.

the fans consider tough and the ones that actually are tough usually don't match.

And the interpretation is all sorts of fucked up. You can draft the best player in the draft and still have a portion of the fanbase calling it a fireable offense.

The one thing to come to grips with is a lot of the fan base is comprised of fucking imbeciles.

I still don't know what trading Beckham accomplishes aside from creating another major roster hole and adding more dead money to our cap in either 2019 or 2020.

Unless someone is blowing us away with a big time offer, I can't see how it helps the Giants get better. We'd also be selling low on him. He missed the last month of the season and most of last year. If there was ever a "low point" in terms of selling on this player - it would probably be now.

I think you need to consider it. My philosophy on trading Beckham is based on the infrastructure which is still very weak for this team. We already have Barkley who is a dynamic skill position player.

This is a strong defensive line draft, our pass rush is putrid. Getting Beckham for a top 15 pick & netting 2 pass rushers in the first round...is that so bad? Its about team building. Fixing this mess from the inside-out.

There is way too much made of good QB play here. The way football is it isn't too hard to find a guy that can play these days. There used to be a dearth of talent at the QB position making it scarce. That's just not the case anymore. Plenty of guys can get it down if you surround the team with talent. The point of the draft is to add the best players you can. Not fit needs. We pick arguably the best player in the draft and people are upset. It's mind boggling.

Right, but then we have a horrendous WR group with no depth. So, where are the replacements coming from? Relying on FA WR's is a risky proposition. I know it worked with Burress way back when (sorta..) but we're most likely going to need to use picks on that position - so it's basically taking out one plug in the dam and using it to fill another hole.

I'm not sure it really gets us any closer.

And this assumes we actually nail the pick(s) we get in return. What if we whiff or the player we draft gets hurt? Then we're SOL.

Sean : 1/6/2019 6:57 pm : link
We arent getting multiple firsts. Beckham hasnt played a full season in 2 years & makes a ton of money. Its a risky move no doubt, but Gettleman should be trying to build an identity here & Beckhams an asset.

Lets go back to his intro presser, what does he want to do?

1. Protect the QB
2. Run the ball
3. Pressure the other QB

Beckham doesnt factor into any of those 3, yet he is an asset to potentially help 1 or 3. Its about building a team & building an identity.

With strong lines & a running game, I think we can win without Beckham. Terps made this point previously - Dominick Hixon was the leading WR for the Giants in 2008 - the most dominant regular season NYG team in recent history.

We had the best rushing offense in football and a top 5 defense. That's how it works with Hixon being the top WR. Burress did play more than half the games that year, too - so Hixon wasn't the WR1 all year.

Further - that team fell apart down the stretch and couldn't win a playoff game at home. We were dreadful. Not sure that's the model to follow here. The Giants teams with the true WR threats (Burress, Toomer, Nicks, Cruz, Manningham) won the Super Bowls and the ones without those guys didn't win any playoff games.

We didn't win in the playoffs with Beckham in 2016, either - but people often forget that the defense completely fell apart as soon as DRC was gone and gave up nearly 40 points. I'm not sure even a perfect day by Beckham catching the football gets us a W that night.

Holy revisionist history. That offense was awful one Plax went down.
Barkley vs. Chubb is the only real argument imo
widmerseyebrow : 1/6/2019 8:06 pm : link
Nelson and Hernandez or Braden Smith would have been bold, and it worked for the Colts, but at #2 the elite pass rusher is the smarter pick.

We'll see who has the most team beneficial career of the two. If Barkley has Tomlinson-like productivity and longevity then it's a good pick.

Taking the wrong QB at #2 would have come with a high opportunity cost given the QBs coming out in 2020 and 2021.

Not to mention that Hixon became the #1 WR by default. It would be like saying the Cowboys are in the playoffs this year with Cole Beasley as their top WR, which statistically is true
Barkley
MookGiants : 1/6/2019 9:35 pm : link
may have been the best player in the draft athletically, but there's close to zero percent chance he will be even close to the most valuable over his career.

When it comes time for 2nd contracts, he wont be anywhere near the highest paid.

I think Gettleman is a clown but thats not a fireable offense. Believing this team could compete this year is a fireable offense to me. Extending Eli would be a fireable offense.

Quenton Nelson should win Offensive Rookie of the year. He won't because he didn't put up flashy stats, but he's the best player in that draft in my opinion with Barkley a close 2nd. But neither one will be the most valuable. A couple of the QB's probably will be, Mayfield almost certainly will be.
I think
MookGiants : 1/6/2019 9:40 pm : link
Barkley's terrific statistical season speaks to the value of running backs to teams in the current era.

He stood on his head basically the entire year, and this team still only won 5 games. 4 of which were against backups. 2 of them 3rd string guys. If Garropolo was healthy Giants don't win that game. If Trubisky was healthy giants dont beat Bears.

They would have beat Redskins probably regardless, but this team was really, really bad.

Which top running back from the last decade has won a Super Bowl?
the Giants
MookGiants : 1/6/2019 9:42 pm : link
are also wasting Barkley's prime years. 2 years may not seem like a lot but it's probably 33% of a running backs prime years, and those first 2 years the Giants will have zero chance to compete for a title. Hard to imagine them having a chance to compete for a title the 3rd year either because thats likely to be the year they take a QB. It's not Saquons fault but half of what likely is his prime is going to be wasted.

Barkley is quite a specimen. Unless he sustains a career-altering injury, he's going to be productive for a while.

Adrian Peterson just posted a 1000 yard season at age 33. And he tore his ACL a few years ago. I think we're getting carried away by trying to make it seem like the shelf life of a RB is basically 2-3 years. Barkley will last longer than that.

Elliott already has ~900 carries to his name and he's led the NFL in rush YPG per game in all 3 of his active seasons. That's missing 8 games due to suspension/injury/sitting out. 381 touches - the most in football. 2001 scrimmage yards.

I fucking hate Dallas, but Elliott is going to be doing this for a while and so will Barkley.

No one said he will be done at 26. But most likely his prime years will be behind him. It's like you guys haven't watched running backs. Ladanian Tomlinson was not immune from his production dropping significantly all of a sudden.

The Steelers let Bell sit out an entire season at age 26. Surely if his prime wasn't close to over they never would have held a hard line on him, right?

But yeah, outlandish to say Barkley's prime is his first 6 years.

Which running back recently had a prime a decade long? Tomlinsons production nose dived after his 7th season and he retired after his 11th year.

It's a good bet Barkley's prime is no longer than Tomlinsons was. Hell i'd sign right now for 7 prime years of Barkley. We've seen running backs fall off of a cliff even earlier then that

How many non QBs and lineman have more than 7 prime years though? Does that mean you should never take a non QB or lineman in the first round? I would have been happy with Chubb, but it's not out of the question we have a new QB in place and we're ready to contend while Barkley is still a good player, not discounting the fact that he might be instrumental in easing our next QB into the NFL.

So, were just casually glossing over the part where Tomlinsons decline was a result of getting hurt several times?

He sprained his MCL, hurt his big toe, hurt his ankle, partially tore his groin... Im guessing that stuff had something to do with the dip.

Tomlinson actually had a pretty good year with the Jets, too.

Barkley is a better athlete. Its certainly not out of the question hell get hurt, but unless were banking on it, Im not sure LdT is a great comp here.
