By the Giants' standards, the Ravens practically won the game.
Gettleman talking about how competitive they were in games was absurd. If that's evidence of this team heading in the right direction then the Giants are even more screwed than originally thought.
The o-line needs to be fixed but fixing the pass rush and QB situation is much more important at this point.
To throw 4 yard passes. Hope the defense drops and INT or two. Have a defense that just destroyed the other teams QB and have a kicker makes 5 FGs... and we are set.
But you guys act like you haven't seen Eli play a game in the last 7 years
You act like you haven't seen Eli play in a playoff game before.
I actually seen Eli play like complete dogshit in his first playoff game. Getting shutout and throwing 3 picks. He got better right?
Eli was smart enough to learn and adapt. Mostly because he didn’t score a 13 on his Wonderlic like Jackson. Jackson is garbage, not an NFL potential QB.
and QB play. Still the biggest two keys to winning in this league. That's precisely why the Giants are no closer to competing for titles than they were at this time last year because they haven't filled either one of those holes at all.
QB play had NOTHING to do with this game. You kidding me? They both stunk.
I don't think Rivers stunk as much as they had a very obvious game plan to run, run, run mainly because the Ravens D gave Rivers fits in the previous game. They basically asked him to do very little, what they asked him to do (make the occasional 3rd down and don't turn the ball over) he did reasonably well.
Huh? What??? Oh great he didn’t turn it over. Except for a big dropped INT. And red zone failures and wasted field position.
He didn’t play well. He didn’t hurt them. But his defense and kicker were the stars of the game.
Christ, if that's your fucking criteria you should be fucking slating Eli on a weekly basis.
You're ok with the garbage we've seen from the Giants since Hurricane Sandy? i'm certainly not.
Saquon Barkley highlight videos don't change the fact that this team is no closer to competing for titles than they were at this time last year.
So-so QB play isn't going to win titles. The Cowboys are still playing but I want a better QB than Dak.
The future of the Giants defense is probably in worse shape than any team in the league. Add in that the QB situation has zero future right now and I dont know how anyone thinks this team is headed in the right direction. I dont think this is a year to get a QB so I hope they get a pass rusher in round 1.
I dont see any way this team competes next year. I hope ownership and the front office realizes that and doesn't do anything short sighted. Get a pass rusher, get rid of the dead weight, and get a QB next year.
....but Harbaugh stuck with him and he almost brought them back.
They lost this game, but it might serve them well going forward next year..........
Let’s be honest, it was pretty much garbage time and the Chargers dropped two easy INTs. He was awful
I know you hate the guy, and that's fine. I don't entirely disagree, but we don't know how much improvement he can make.
Having said that, garbage time or not, Jackson is going to feel a lot better about what he did in the 4th quarter versus being benched for a guy that won't even be on the team next year...........
the legend will have to wait for a day when he gets at least 200 yards passing!
Maybe he will get it with 2 quarters of garbage time stats...
Hehehe
still better than Eli against the titans. But that was the oline, coaching/everyone sbut elis fault I forgot
The bad games are always everyone elses' fault.
Honestly I was an Eli apologist until the second half of this season. Papa, Banks, Dep, etc. The few good games its "look Eli still has it!" The bad games its radio silence or the play calling, o line, etc
Eli has not been nearly good enough in a long time. Once in every blue moon he plays well. This team has a lot of issues with it, but Eli's regression last few seasons is the 1A and 1B is lack of pass rush.
the legend will have to wait for a day when he gets at least 200 yards passing!

They are 150% in a better position now than they were this time last year. Seriosuly, are you trolling ?
This Ravens Chargers game was one of the most interesting strategically in recent years, with Harbaugh taking the Jackson option scheme into a contest against a high quality defense.
Did the Ravens difficulties in the first 3 quarters prove anything? I came out of it skeptical the idea would work in the NFL playoffs, despite the Ravens’ miscues, which muddied the pool and made it difficult to attribute the lack of success to the scheme.

Yes, they did not try to improve the offensive line.
this teams season was over. They won a few meaningless games. And then the second the door was open a hair to rescue the season, they completely pissed down their legs in Philadelphia. Including Eli with a mind numbing INT before half that started the total collapse.
Yea what is Barkley good for except YouTube videos!? Â

Eli's inability to move whatsoever and going down immediately when anyone gets near him doesn't have a negative impact on the offensive line because Lamar Jackson had a poor game today against a great pass rush?
Eli is finished being a good QB in this league. The Giants should make him take a significant paycut or tell him to hit the road. I dont care if they have a QB that isnt as good as Eli next year. They're going no where with him anyways. So if he doesnt want to take a paycut then release him. Use that money on a player who will actually be a part of the team when they have a chance to be good again.
If they extend him and impact the cap on future years then they are out of their minds. What has Eli done to deserve an extension right now? Paycut or leave. Thanks for the terrific career but its over without a paycut.
Bad in a lot of areas. I'm not sure what proof there is that Barkley doesn't impact the team's wins. I wonder how many games they win without Barkley. He makes the giants better period. But he is a component on a team that needs quite a few more components to work together
RE: I confess that sometimes I just want Eli to retire Â
so we can discuss other QB's around the league without it degenerating into a referendum on Eli.
You can’t. Look at this thread. If you say something bad about Lamar... it instantly turned into Eli’s first game. Or if you point out the averageness of Rivers game... we had a poster being up the titans game in reference to Eli. It’s really comical.
Shit we even had the game changing pick by Eli in the Eagles game that has happened all the time this year with no effect on the game .... except for Eli’s. Lol.

. Haha, but actually I think we need to get rid of Eli to start properly evaluating the Giants QB and prospects coming out of the NCAA. A mental cloud hangs over the franchise.

endconvo.
Jackson was sacked six times today, the most by a rookie quarterback in a game in postseason history.

They should use all their resources in those 2 areas first instead of just wasting capital in a QB who may or may not be good.
If rivers performance can win a playoff game today... then you can throw anyone back there.
