is this teams ceiling next year. And that would take a lot of breaks.

The front office needs to be realistic about what this team is going to be next year. If they're delusional and make win now moves it will make the rebuild longer than it needs to be.

Use this draft to build the defense which has holes everywhere and the offensive line. Suck next year and get a QB. That's going in the right direction.

What's going to be ok?

The Giants certainly aren't going to be ok next year.

Why keep him at his cap number when you can use that money on a player that has a future with the team

Like who? You can continue to build the team and when his contract expires... you can better access where to go from there.

Even during regular season threads that have nothing to do with the Giants. If you give another QB a compliment, some folks will come into the thread and question why your complimenting that QB.

Like, heaven forbid another player on another team gets a compliment on here, and if it's another QB? The insecurity REALLY kicks in.

Happens every week. Sad.

And I'm not sure Eli ever played a game with less than 25 yards passing going into a 4th quarter, let alone doing it in a playoff game.

If anyone watched that game and thinks there is a viable future for Jackson as a QB, I don't really know what to tell you. Sadly, it wasn't even an outlier for his passing. I think he averaged 180 yards passing this year.

Praising luck yesterday. Even Dak got some kudos.

The two QBs were not good today. It’s ok to say that too.

They don't need to use it on a QB. They can use that money on any number of holes they have elsewhere on the team. There are gigantic holes nearly everywhere.

They will suck with or without Eli Manning next year. I'd rather suck without him if he's going to be taking up 20+ million of the cap

Of course it is. But if you happen to say you like one of them after not liking them for years, I got a few posts for that exact thing. I didn't even say Rivers was good today. Just that I used to dislike him, and now I don't. And I still caught some hell for that innocuous post.
Just because
MookGiants : 1/6/2019 5:02 pm : link
Rivers didn't put up eye popping stats doesn't mean he wasn't good.

Eli against that pass rush would have turned it over multiple times.

Rivers played a good game for what they needed him to do today.

Jackson played poorly, Rivers did not.

MookGiants : 1/6/2019 5:08 pm : link
defense was one of the, if not the best in the league this year. He didn't turn the ball over once. Mike Williams had a killer drop on a perfect pass that halted a drive too. Another drive was halted by a fumble.

If he played poorly today, then you honestly have no idea what you're watching. If that was playing poorly, what would you call some of Eli's games in the last 3 years?

didn't play great because Baltimore has a terrific pass rush, and the weather conditions.

He also protected the ball.

Anyone who believes this team is on the right path is delusional. They'll be on the right path when they start filling the two gigantic holes at QB and pass rushers. This year looks like a good one to get a pass rusher.

Rivers managed that game very well. Zero turnovers against a terrific defense on the road.

Beckham and Barkley can stand on their heads every game, but it's not going to matter unless the real problems on this team get addressed.

Lol. Your crusade is sad now.

It’s absolutely pathetic man. Mook comes on every thread to regurgitate the same thing over and over and over and over again. I’m honestly curious as to what purpose it serves? Does he think if he bitches and complains about not having a “franchise QB” and “premium position” players enough that it’s going to speed up the process?

We get it Mook. You wanted Darnold or Chubb. Now can you shut the hell up about it? I’m pretty sure everyone is aware of your stance, if you’re worried there’s anyone’s left that doesn’t.
It's actually quite sad to see how far Mook

so the same people can come on here over and over and tell us how Jackson isnt any good or how Eli isn't the problem and they can continue to do that, but if you tell them they are wrong repeatedly you're wrong.

Same people thought this team would be good this season. They continue to believe this team is heading in the right direction.

Why is it ok to repeat the same stance 100000 times if you're drinking the Giants kool aid but not if you have a problem with the direction of this franchise.

When the GM of this team has a press conference and thinks this team is headed in the right direction its a problem. This team is stuck in neutral. The sooner they realize it, the better. Part of the problem is the fans. John Mara absolutely pays attention to the fan base. If he didn't he wouldn't have totally botched the way the Eli situation was handled after he was benched last year. He may not let it influence decision making often, but he definitely did last year and it hurt the direction of the franchise.

Because I'm not drinking the kool aid, people don't like it.

You can repeat the same shit every single day on here like dep does, but when you come on here and say they're wrong, you have fallen as a poster.

No one ever wants to actually debate what I say. Ever. Because they rarely have any legitimate argument.

I'm sick of the garbage this franchise has become. It needs to end. The Giants have given none of us a reason to be optimistic for next year.

I really hope the front office and ownership realizes that this team isnt going anywhere next year and looks ahead. The organization will be far better off if they are realistic about what this team can be next year
lol

2. I am ok if they move on this year (if done smartly.)

on here. All of us are.

Everyone on here loves to throw it in the face of people who didn't want Barkley that this season proves that they were wrong, but when you come and defend that position and don't have your pom poms out, you have fallen as a poster.

I hate the direction of this franchise. I have no idea how anyone on this board doesn't. Do you guys enjoy watching garbage football?
Odd..

You've posted ad nauseum about not taking a QB. Even after you've watched Barkley play.

And because we didn't pick a QB, you keep saying we don't have a plan and are going to suck for years to come.

Yet if we had drafted a QB, we'd likely have been worse this year and no more reason for optimism.

Worse than posting the same thing over and over again, you post it as if you have been proven correct.

I'm worn out debating the same bullshit...

If you cant see the offense improved in the 2nd half than I don't know what to tell you...

If you have watched the games this weekend it's pretty clear it's about running the ball, stopping the run and getting to the passer...sound familiar..??

You're unbearable because in your eyes the GM and coach should be fired, the QB should be cut and there's no hope ok we get it..
Being worse this year because of a different strategy

if they would have been worse this year without Barkley. Sometimes thats actually a good thing.

Does the win against the Bears make you more optimistic for next year? I'd rather have the higher pick right now.

Let's hear why we should be optimistic next year about this team. If they had a potential franchise QB, there would be a reason to be optimistic.

I'd certainly rather be the Jets right now than I would the Giants. Maybe Darnold busts, but we know for sure as currently constructed the Giants have zero future at QB.

When that changes and pass rush changes I'll feel better about the direction this team is going in.

Does anyone on here actually believe the Giants can compete next year?

We can blame the oline right? Jackson wasn’t great but neither was the rest of the offense.

Sure as long as admit that 95% of his stats were garbage time stats and any drives of meaning he sucked balls.

Soon as you admit the same about Eli
the offense
MookGiants : 1/6/2019 5:41 pm : link
certainly couldn't get any worse. They improved when there was no pressure on them whatsoever, and the second there was pressure on them, they completely pissed down their legs and blew the Eagles game.

This team has been rotten for a long time now. What they did after their season was over by Halloween doesn't excite me. They won 5 games and what, 3 of the 5 were against backup QB's.

I'd have been more optimistic if they were 2-14 and had a better pick. They won a few meaningless games. The defense is a total train wreck.
Why shouldnt we be optimistic.
dep026 : 1/6/2019 5:43 pm : link
Cause we dont have a QB on the roster that may or may not be good for 10 years?

Or maybe people are because we are rebuilding and have addressed some needs, will address some more in the offseason, etc....

No one, I mean no one is thinking we are SB contenders next year. We have to overcome 7 years of putrid drafting of our prior regime. Rome wasnt built in a day.

If you didnt get excited aboout seeing SB be a stud. EE play well at the end of the year, BJ Hill shine this year. Jenkins being a top flight corner, Hernandez looking like a 10 year+ starters....

Then I cant help you.

there be more optimism with an unknown QB vs. a known stud RB??

For all we will find out, not a single QB drafted last year will end up being a franchise QB. We can already confidently say that Barkley is a generational player.

All things remaining equal, your optimism is based on nothing more than hope, which should at least give you enough pause not to post the same fucking bullshit over and over again.

You can build a team by getting a RB before a QB. In fact, there are a couple teams right now that have done that and are doing quite well.

Bucs
MookGiants : 1/6/2019 5:45 pm : link
would have been a loss if they started Winston instead of Fitz. 49ers had their 3rd string QB playing. Bears without Trubisky. Redskins with a guy off the street.

2 wins against 3rd string qb's (49ers and Redskins) Another against a backup. And another against the Bucs who threw away the game by starting Fitz. Winston shredded the defense when he came in.

That's the sticking point.
Dave in Hoboken : 1/6/2019 5:46 pm : link

You do not need a franchise quarterback to win anymore.

And I think they can compete (loose term) if they fix the oline and get something that resembles a defense. Yes they can compete. But not for much.

How much is "fools gold" ...mybe some improvement but not extent of certainty...tenn game that was a test came up nil...in fact shutout.

When this offense or team stepped up vs better teams..it mostly shit the bed..it wasnt just 1 unit..it was all phases..breakdowns left and right and mistakes.
To not see through the forest and see theres plenty issues that continue to make this team stagnant..not improving.

RB had a terrific year and the team finished 5-11.

Darnold was up and down this year, but the talent is there. Sure he could bust, but there's also a good chance he takes a big step forward this year.

We know the Giants currently have nothing at QB for the future. They dont even have a lottery ticket.
