I don't see their DB's kicking away int's like the Falcons did last year and their pressure forces a couple of bad throws with the Bears taking advantage. I think the Clock strikes midnight for Foles and the Birds today.
As long as Trubisky doesn't lose the game for the Bears I see them coming out on top.
Watching the ore game shows, the Eagles continue to try to get more mileage out of their bullshit “underdog” narrative. It was lame and inaccurate last season and it’s even more so now.
You’re the defending Super Bowl Champion. On no planet is anyone looking at you as an underdog. Just stop...
Only way that's happening is if Bears D comes up with two DTDs. Trubisky looks terrible and the play calling and personnel packagers have been piss poor too
I can’t get a read on this guy for the life of me.
Foles looks good, which sucks. Really nervous the Eagles have the answers for this Bears D. Quick throws, getting RB’s out in space. I’m gonna be sick if I have to watch 2 NFC East teams next weekend.

is part of what's wrong with the NFL. You can have a catch, but if nobody picks up the ball, it isn;t?
Makes perfect sense.
The only thing I can think of is when calling it incomplete they blew the whistle and maybe why no one went after the ball?
It does seem like having the incomplete stand is a big time bail out on them either blowing the call or being unsure of all aspects of the new catch rule.
has been a really inconsistent QB, and as we've seen with teams that have great D's, he's been good enough not to fuck things up.
When you guys watch the Bears are you really ever marveling at the efficiency of their offense, or have they done an excellent job minimizing turnovers and winning the TOP battle so their D can shut the opposition down?
Is either blind or clueless. No other explanation.
He may have accuracy issues.
He may not know where to go with the ball.
But the guy has a great arm.
I am not getting into a debate about Trubisky. I could care less about him except that he does enough to win in the next 30 minutes. What I do know is every time I watch him he seems to throw picks or near picks to the outside.
...waving incomplete. I guess that tells the Eagles not to even try to pick up the ball (although you see players always, 95% of the time, pick it up regardless).
Seems to me, it's a completion with a fumble, and if no one picks it up....should stay with the team in possession of it.

Agreed and we'll never know but I wonder if either team did pick it up for a clean recovery if they would've ruled catch/fumble clear recovery?
It sure looked like a catch based on the new rule to me, and I'm leaning on this crew not knowing what the hell to do and just took the easy way out and let it stand.

Well that honestly doesn't change my thinking. I want to see the rule that states it has to be incomplete when there is no clear recovery instead of it just being dead at the spot of the fumble because to me it was clearly a catch.
So your point was about INTs? Ok. He doesn’t have many buy make the point about why the INTs May have happened. In this case it sure wasn’t about floating the ball.

While I agree that something is rotten in Denmark, that is not what you said. You blamed the crew. I simply said the ruling came from NY. Guess I nitpicked.
Great - he can throw it through a wall, if he can find the wall and if he can hit the wall. Sterling endorsement of a 1st round pick.
How about this...as his first year as a starter, he had a 2-1 TD to int ratio, 95 QB rating, a true running threat who made plenty of plays with his feet, and they were division champs while he won his last 8 games as a starter?
@SeifertESPN: From the NFL rule book: "If there is no video evidence of a clear recovery or the ball going out of bounds, the ruling of incomplete stands."

A) that's a fucking terrible rule because it's literally saying it's fine to ignore what actually happened on the field.

Good for you. I do not think much of him. If you like him, great. I would not want him on the Giants.
He is having an extremely difficult time completing passes today and I am rooting for the Bears. I hope he gets going soon. But the Eagles DBs are pretty mundane.

B) it's actually terrible coaching on both sides.
I agree. Why just ignore the fact it was a catch? I look at it similar to a fumble on a running play with no clear recovery because that's what it technically was at that point. The ball goes to the team who fumbled at the spot of the fumble. Why should a catch be any different?
Finally the Bears try and get a double move on an Eagle DB like I was calling for.
Wasn't the best throw, but Robinson should have done better with his feet.
Oh really, Jerry Rice?
Yes??
He got his second flat foot out of bounds, a drag of any sort would have made it complete. A difficult catch sure, but it's the sort completed multiple times every week.

You make it sound so simple. I didn't know you are a former NFL WR. Awesome!

Is that the fucking criteria for criticism now? Cool. I'll be sure to hold you to it.
Trubisky reminds me of Eli. It's crazy. Watching this whole game from his mannerisms, to the way he throws, to the way he gets up to the line. Bad throws and good throws. Bad mechanics and good mechanics; all in any given series.
Wasn't the best throw, but Robinson should have done better with his feet.

more inconsistency. You can apparently push a WR while not looking for the ball and it isn't PI.
He didn't push him. Watch the play again - that wasn't remotely pass interference. Just because Foles underthrew it by 5 yards does not mean the Bears should be penalized for it.
That play was just outside five minutes remaining.
When ball is run out of bounds, clock resumes on official's spot of ball, except in last two minutes of first half and last five minutes of second half.
Well his name is Shurmur and I’m sure he could care less.
if we're going to nitpick, then maybe you meant COULDN'T care less... but we're not both idiots here... you know what I meant and I know what you meant.
and the Bears defense gave it up at the end. And then Trubisky actually gets them very much into FG position. Trubisky did his job. His future is bright.
and hit the upright like 8 times and still have a job. You can see in Nagys mind the thought process after the miss... it was “I should have cut him”.
Can’t be soft gotta make the move when it’s on the table. The guy hit the upright 4 times in a game-and I believe on his very first attempt the next game. You GET RID of that guy before he costs you a game like this one.
would absolutely make me sick! I think both home teams have a good shot next week, but Dallas and Philly both have momentum now and Eagles want pay back from previous gut punch from New Orleans this year.
I really don't want to root for that scum Sean Payton.
Conflicted? I don't care if Sean Payton groped your mother, choked a puppy, and incited a riot resulting in the deaths of 15 innocent foreign aid workers. You root against the Eagles.

New Orleans will shred that secondary in the dome. it will not be close.
Yep. That's how I see it too.
The only good thing to come out of this is the Eagles get a shittier draft pick now.
The Eagles are going back to the super bowl. It doesn’t make sense and they aren’t that good, but it’s going to happen because they are the luckiest god damn team in history. Their magic carpet ride ain’t over yet.
They already fixed it, but I just looked at Parkey's Wikipedia page and the fans did not disappoint
Quote:
Chicago Bears
Cody Parkey in a game against the San Francisco 49ers in 2018
On March 14, 2018, Parkey signed a four-year contract with the Chicago Bears.[17]
On November 11, 2018, against the Detroit Lions, Parkey had four kicks (two extra points and two field goals) strike the uprights; none went through.[18] Despite his misses, the Bears won 34–22. In Week 11 against the Minnesota Vikings, Parkey made 3 field goals in the 25-20 win. He was named the NFC Special Teams Player of the Week for his performance. In the Wildcard round, Parkey let his entire city down because he thought that hitting the upright was the only way to score 3 points.

Fear not. ZERO chance they win at NO. It’s just not going to happen.
RE: The Giants brag about finishing the season 4-4 Â
while Dallas & Philly are in the divisional round. Fuck.
Yup.
Will you guys just shut the fuck up? Jeezus, it’s tiring. We get it. The Giants suck. It’s bad enough we have to endure Dallas and Philly winning, you assclowns piling on doesn’t accomplish shit.
The Giants don’t brag about finishing 4-4, give me a fucking break.
Mara hasn’t even spoken.
Gettleman and Shurmur prefaced any and every positive thing they might have said by saying 5 wins is unacceptable, no one wants to lose, not good enough, etc.
I never wanted Shurmur here, but he’s here , and while he wasn’t exactly inspiring, it was year one which included new systems on both sides of the ball including the switch to the 3-4.
Gettleman has had a hand in building how many SB teams in his career? He’s forgotten more than any of you can ever dream of knowing about football.
also made a big mistake calling timeout after the big play.
Get up to the line and spike it. Save your timeout. If you save your timeout you can use the middle of the field no problem. Thats more important than saving the down. Also on the 3rd down play if they had a holding oenalty or something I believe its a 10 second runoff and game over.
That last timeout is like gold. Worth far more than one down

Yeah......like the Giants were the only team to lose to them. The SHAME!
you realize their season was done if we closed them out in the 2nd half...as one coach famously said, "We let em off the hook"
Their season would've been over if the Rams and Texans would have beaten them a few weeks later. Or the Colts in week 3.Or the Falcons in week 1. There were other teams with opportunities, so stop trying to pin your frustrations on Shurmur.
I heard the WIP Eagles call at the end of the game... Â
on satellite radio. The announcer was spewing on about the “brilliant time out call by Pedersen” prior to the field go try. Apparently, he just invented icing the kicker.🙄
such production out of players near or north of 30. Peters, Kelce, Sproles, Long, Bennett, Malcolm Jenkins, Brandon Graham. It’s amazing that they are able to do it and most teams see significant declines in their players at that age

Dumb bastids. They beat the Rams, in LA, for the love of Christ...but it is Shurmur's fault the the defending Super Bowl Champs made the playoffs.
The best defense in the NFL folded in the last quarter in the Wild Card game, but it is Shurmur's fault.
Think maybe, just maybe, the Eagles are pretty good, especially a team decimated by injuries...oh and Foles sucks.
I doubt they beat the saints but I wouldn’t put anything past that organization in terms of getting breaks
I don't see them winning either. The Bears simply don't have the WRs and experienced QB to take advantage of the Eagles in the secondary. It was going to be a close game and the Eagles got the break on the FG miss.
I don’t know if you are addressing me in your last post, but if so...yes, I am pretty miserable right now.
1. The Eagles are defending SB champs
2. Both the Eagles & Cowboys are in the divisional round.
3. The Giants followed up 3-13 with 5-11 while DG/PS keep referencing the 2017 record as a mark of improvement.
4. 2-10 vs Philly since 2013.
5. 3-9 vs Dallas since 2013.
6. 38 year old QB with no transition plan in place.
7. 0-8 vs Dallas & Philly since the beginning of 2017.
Is this enough for you? Am I being unreasonable being upset. I’m sitting in an office full of Eagle fans right now, yes I’m fucking miserable with the state of the Giants right now.
Maybe instead of going after me, go after the assholes who were rooting for the Eagles in the SB last year here on BBI (one of which I believe posted above criticizing my post, although I’m not certain.)
3. The Giants followed up 3-13 with 5-11 while DG/PS keep referencing the 2017 record as a mark of improvement.
"Keep referencing"?? Way to take things out of context. "Bragging about going 4-4"??
Both DG and Shurmur has said the team has a lot of improvement to do, but not only do people latch onto anything positive they've said, but then they use it to bash them for no particular reason.
I swear that some of you actually think that management and some fans are happy with the end of the season. I see it posted often. Who exactly is happy?
Drawing errant conclusions and trying to tell the board what the psychoanalysis is of the GM and HC really doesn't do anything but sound like whining.
"Dallas and Philly won and the Giants are bragging about being 4-4!!!" Dallas and Philly won. The Giants didn't brag. And you sound like a fucking child.
Up 19-3 in Philly with the chance to bury them & we resurrect their season.
Bragging about 4-4 I admit was strong, but yes...I’m surprised with how many times Shurmur has referenced 3-13. That record has no bearing on the 2018 Giants.
I bet the Eagles +6.5 but I always thought the Bears would win Â
If I had to bet my life I'd take the pigeons
As long as Trubisky doesn't lose the game for the Bears I see them coming out on top.
You’re the defending Super Bowl Champion. On no planet is anyone looking at you as an underdog. Just stop...
I won last night because of that late game 8 points
I said the same last night.
Bears have best run defense. I don't expect Eagles to have much success here.
Trubiski is the wildcard here. How does he play? I expect a ton of jet sweep/screens/throws to backs to make his job easy.
Chicago K has struggled recently. That could be huge in a close game.

I think they run Trubiski a lot early.
Burton mysteriously coming down with an injury night before playing his former team a little odd too....
If Trubisky plays well..."See, this is why we need a QB."
If Foles plays badly..."See, and you all want to sign this guy as a stopgap."
If Foles plays well..."See, there are plenty of QBs, even backups, that are better than Eli."
that should cover it...
They would've been better served facing a terrible Kirk Cousins in the playoffs.
I did. Said it out loud.
Makes no sense. Especially on first play of drive.
3rd and 9 draw? Really bears?

Nope against his ex team he mysteriously developed a groin out of nowhere after practicing all week without issue

He is the epitome of Trash....
Agreed I think they have a good one. He plays a little like Romo did when he was bursting on to scene
Thankfully looks like Trubisky is ok. I don't know why qbs don't wear knee braces.
Bennett giving away 3 points. It amazes me that players do that with so much on the line.
Young legs. Maybe a better athlete too, Romo was more crafty/savvy
Could be first-timer nerves. Incredibly common for young QBs in playoffs.
Only come playoff time. It's unreal.
September 2018 or December 2017 Foles... is fucking trash. Infuriorating.

His problem is anticipation. He usually throws it late.
He may have accuracy issues.
He may not know where to go with the ball.
But the guy has a great arm.
yes. but Chicago gets it because Philly didn't pick it up
Incredible, isn't it?
It's a fumble but they didn't pick it up.
NFL officials strike again.
haha
yep. Chicago should have gotten it where the ball stopped. I'm almost positive I've seen that before this year.
Makes perfect sense.
So, if it could have been recovered it was a catch??
I'll check back later.
Yeah, doesn't seem like it's working out for the Bears at all..
So, if it could have been recovered it was a catch??
yes. and a fumble. they are saying it was a catch and a fumble. so how does Chicago not get the ball where it lands? the refs blew the whistle.

Because the rule is fucking mental. Either the defender has to lay up when the ball is in the air or defy the laws of physics.
BTW, are you just an angry asshole?
Or do you think you know what you’re talking about on any subject you rant about?
I have more confidence in Lamar Jackson
Unfortunately it will be the Eagles scoring.

A) that's a fucking terrible rule because it's literally saying it's fine to ignore what actually happened on the field.
B) it's actually terrible coaching on both sides.
Quote:
Great - he can throw it through a wall, if he can find the wall and if he can hit the wall. Sterling endorsement of a 1st round pick.
How about this...as his first year as a starter, he had a 2-1 TD to int ratio, 95 QB rating, a true running threat who made plenty of plays with his feet, and they were division champs while he won his last 8 games as a starter?
Is that a decent endorsement for a first rounder?
Good for you. I do not think much of him. If you like him, great. I would not want him on the Giants.
He is having an extremely difficult time completing passes today and I am rooting for the Bears. I hope he gets going soon. But the Eagles DBs are pretty mundane.

Guy is a complete imbecile...
Bears D has been stagnant though .
Much like the Cowboys
But a few saying he floats the ball isn’t true and I commented about that specifically. That was the quote of mine you pinned.
He’s a young QBs without a lot of QB exp (even in college with only a handful of starts). But he has a lot of the tools you want.
Overall, he had a very good year and seems to me the arrow is pointing up but still a lot of work to do.

Ok, I see - his arm is plenty strong and touch is a learned skill.
Wasn't the best throw, but Robinson should have done better with his feet.
Yep. He was just a hare and second late on the throw. Robinson could have gotten his toe drag in a little bit better there.

But Robinson was wide open.

@SeifertESPN: From the NFL rule book: "If there is no video evidence of a clear recovery or the ball going out of bounds, the ruling of incomplete stands."
A) that's a fucking terrible rule because it's literally saying it's fine to ignore what actually happened on the field.

No not tanking but when the scoreboard read Rams up by 30 on San Fran at halftime, resting your starters in the second half was the way to go

He got his second flat foot out of bounds, a drag of any sort would have made it complete. A difficult catch sure, but it's the sort completed multiple times every week.

I know you don’t mean that.
Good thing giants players don’t complain!
He didn't push him. Watch the play again - that wasn't remotely pass interference. Just because Foles underthrew it by 5 yards does not mean the Bears should be penalized for it.
It's not just you. Add in Sproles who bitches after every play.
I'm sorry, are you Ronnie Lott?
Nope. Worthless.
Falcons, Bucs (he didn't do shit against the Rams either)... and last year Raiders, Cowboys, etc did it just fine.
Why the fuck did they just give Jeffrey 10 yards off the ball???
Why were Bears not calling a TO there???

Terrible timeout for Philly. If they don't get this - they could still get the ball back
Foles clutch as hell, Eagles money
Not good
ZERO chance bears can score
What the hell are you talking about?

That play was just outside five minutes remaining.
When ball is run out of bounds, clock resumes on official's spot of ball, except in last two minutes of first half and last five minutes of second half.

I hope so, but I have getting concerned. Then there is Foles guy is clutch as can be.
Wentz who? I hope they get smoked next week

NO doesn’t lose in that stadium, eagles got blown out once there and that will creep into their minds if/when saints go up.
Do you think they can beat the Saints or Rams/cowboys?
It's not even just that. You have a ropey kicker. Use a down to set up in the middle of the field.

And Dallas has the back 7 to match up with them.

Totally. They mismanaged it.
Really they should have runt to the line after the completion to Robinson and spiked it rather than take the TO. Timeouts are valuable in those spots.

Agree 100%
Get up to the line and spike it. Save your timeout. If you save your timeout you can use the middle of the field no problem. Thats more important than saving the down. Also on the 3rd down play if they had a holding oenalty or something I believe its a 10 second runoff and game over.
That last timeout is like gold. Worth far more than one down

I don't see them winning either. The Bears simply don't have the WRs and experienced QB to take advantage of the Eagles in the secondary. It was going to be a close game and the Eagles got the break on the FG miss.
Now, say hello to New Orleans.
Bragging about 4-4 I admit was strong, but yes...I’m surprised with how many times Shurmur has referenced 3-13. That record has no bearing on the 2018 Giants.
I did as well, thinking a close game was definitely the way it would go..........Parkey just needed to hit that FG for a WIN-WIN lol
