Report: Stefanski likely gone from Minny

Strahan91 : 1/6/2019 12:29 pm
I know Shurmur shot down this idea recently but at the time it looked like Stefanski was at worst 50-50 to get the Minnesota OC job. I wonder if the Giants will consider swapping Shula for Stefanski since he was the first choice a year ago.

Is his contract up?

Why would Minnesota let him go?
Possibly

But I’m not quite sure what exactly Shula does other than hold a clip board of the plays that Shurmur is calling
I brought this up the other day

Stefanski was Shurmur's top choice last season for OC but the Vikings would not allow him to interview. There are several good OC options available right now with Stefanski, Gase(if he doesn't get a HC job), Zac Taylor , Mike Kafka, etc.

I think I saw a tweet that said his contract was up.

Shurmur praised Shula during his last presser. It didn't sound like the usual pro forma stuff.
Yeah, Stefanski's contract is up.

I'm not sure he'll get another OC position given that his only experience there was a couple of weeks at the end of the year in an interim capacity. He's been with the Vikings for basically his entire career too so there aren't HC's around the league who've worked closely with him. I could see the Giants possibly bringing him on as a QB coach if that's all he can get although that is also Shula's domain so that could make it tricky.
Forget it,

no way that Shurmur cans Shula for Stefanski.
Hire him
Phil in LA : 1/6/2019 12:52 pm : link
as QB coach, wink, wink.
Lots of moving parts

Stefanski will get some looks as an OC on a few staffs for new head coaches.

Maybe if he gets passed over a few places Shurmur brings him in as an Offensive assistant and QB coach.

But he isn’t dumping Shula.
Possible he could bring him in as Assistant HC

If he really wants him here
If Shurmur wants him he can just create a position
robbieballs2003 : 1/6/2019 1:54 pm : link
for him like assistant head coach.

Sorry, I don't know how I missed your post.
I see no reason to get rid of Shula in any case
Scuzzlebutt : 1/6/2019 3:01 pm : link
He is a long time OC, known as a good QB coach (which we will need), and brings stability since he is most likely never getting a HC gig.

Could see that happening. If it does, watch where Kyle Slotter ends up. No inside info or anything just a hunch
