So I'm watching the Sopranos marathon on HBO this weekend and I noticed something during the "Proshai, Livushka" episode - the one where Livia is buried.
Janice decides to have everyone gather together at Tony's house and share memories of their mother. During the uncomfortable silence that ensues, a figure appears behind Tony in the background. He walks down the steps, takes a look and goes back upstairs. Take a look.
Who do you think that is?
Yes for the most part. Season 6(?) is iffy at some points.
It's a great/legendary show for a reason. Of course there are better seasons and episodes than others but overall it is just a really well done, well acted, well written show. It is absolutely worth watching, especially if you're from NNJ

Never watched the Sopranos even though my parents loved it. I was about 14 when the show started, so probably not old enough to have been watching it back then. Anyway, I too was watching a random episode from season 2 last night and I think I need to just watch this whole series front to back. Now my question is whether the quality of the episodes stay strong as the seasons go on?

Agreed, with the exception of the dream/coma episodes. I thought they were a little slow.
Maybe. But why would a guest be upstairs? Then retire BACK upstairs?
I think there's more to it. It's not random.
The discomfort with Janice and her charade was already well expressed.
Valentina puts her to shame
He oiled 16 Czechoslovakians! He's an interior decorator!
Sorry. This one is better.
Agree with section. I've read comments here before saying they didn't like it after season 2 (this was the best season imo), but I think that's ridiculous. It was strong til season 6. Season 6 was good, but there's a couple of episodes involving a certain character that bogs it down a bit. My biggest complaint is some of the characters become unlikable as the series progresses. Great show, enjoy it
That opening intro could have been pulled from my brain, every one of those iconic image, from the Lincoln Tunnel down the Turnpike, I travelled that weekly through much of my youth.
I used to play in Kandy Bar in Lodi, the building that eventually became Bada Bing.
When I moved upstate, I was taken aback by how much I actually MISSED Jersey. Beneath the web of traffic and stress, there is a LOT of color, millions of incredibly interesting, gregarious people, diversity not only of population but of sight and sound.
I don't miss rush hour, but I do miss the people.
And good Italian pastry.
Cannot stand that whiny self-centered creep and her fucking neurotic bullshit. The scene where Patsy tells her to fuck off is so great.
IMO it's the deepest show ever put on TV. The writing, directing, cinematography were top notch. People I think have been spoiled with the cliff hanger syndrome brought on by 24, or a very one of a kind underdog story line in Breaking Bad. Those shows were great, but watching a random episode of them now isn't as strong as watching any random Sopranos episode.
Which is weird, because when the shows were first on, people would at times complain about the Sopranos not moving fast enough or having enough action. Rarely was an episode ended on a cliff hanger, and that bothered people.
But now, merely watching YouTube clips it makes me want to rewatch the entire series a 3rd time.
I guess enough time away from it has brought better perspective on how good the show actually was.
BTW, the show would easily have been the undisputed GOAT if David Chase was allowed to cap it at 4 seasons instead of making it 6 1/2; HBO demanded more seasons.
By his own admission he was forced to extend the show longer than he desired, and it was still great.
