With Mets trading Plawecki, they're relying on d'Arnaud. I've said before I would've gone with Plawecki, but Mets see more upside with d'Arnaud.
really hope these new analytic guys know what they are doing. I don’t like this move but if they go sign Maldonado I don’t care. Backup C is absolutely a need now.

Nido can give us just as much as Maldonado for much less money.
TdA probably wasn't fetching anything in a trade and at least Lockett was a 4th Round pick who hasn't yet turned 25 and has pitched at AAA. I am sure Mickey and Eiland have told management how the pitchers feel about pitching to Plawecki and d'Arnaud
True to form, they are keeping in their long standing plan to secure 3rd place in their division.
Shuffling around deck chairs until next months rent checks clear for sterling. It is almost unfathomable to me that they don’t bring in another catcher, but I guess we will see.
If TDA is expected to be ready pretty close to the start Â
of the season I dont see them signing another catcher. We arent going with 3. I get not liking TDA as the choice but TDA is the backup they are choosing. Nido can fill in also.

so true.
but I personally do find it fun GM of empty promises is at least making fun deals.
if only this was 2000 and these are just depth moves while a big move was still gonna happen...
There is no way team is relying on these catchers. I imagine they are waiting for cheap deals when catchers get desperate or get waived in ST.

Lockett started three games for the Padres last year. He adds more upper-level starting depth.

Makes very little sense to count on tda for anything. He couldn’t throw or stay healthy before tjs.
I am guessing TDA is untradeable due to his injury and recovery time.
If you compare Plawecki and TDA, TDA has clearly been the better catcher. Can he stay healthy even as a backup? Idk.

Vargas, Frazier, and Lagares are all expendable now after this weekend IMO. Three guys making big money Im sure BVW would love to jettison.
Dont think he's anything special and I was hoping for a better return for Plawecki but he likely ends up a decent #5.

It’s a damn shame. Several impact players out there that could make them real contenders
