"Vice" last night ... I don't know how actors do what they do. He doesn't look anything like Dick Cheney but in the movie you could swear you were watching Cheney and not an actor.
Not a comment on Cheney, just on Bale's acting skills.

Most amazing IMO is his speech pattern. Hearing him speak tonight vs the Cheney role is astonishing.
and I agree with the comment that Andy Samberg isn't funny, but that's only true in a stand-up kind of way (which probably made him a poor choice as host).
He is funny in Brooklyn Nine-Nine - or maybe it's the surrounding cast - who I didn't like at first but really grew on me - but in that role I like him.
left with Kate Beckinsale. Pete fucking Davidson. Left with Kate Beckinsale. I mean...what the fuck? I'm convinced that the kid knows witchcraft or something. That kid must be a sorcerer. No other explanation.
TLG seemed to spend an awful lot of time following around people and events he claims to really dislike. But I was the "creepy" one for posting on a Beckham thread... when I actually have nothing against the guy and enjoy rooting for him.
Good riddance.

On the whole I feel weird watching these type of shows. It just strikes me as Hollywood getting together, over their bottles of Dom and $100K earrings, patting themselves on their own backs at how great they are. Its always "you are great, no you are great". Then of course the obligatory social justice statement to make them feel better about living in $50M mansions. Its just so artificial to me.

And the fact it's largely a stage for actors and actresses to spout on about their political views.
And a guy here gets hacked for saying it? lol Come on.
actually trying to figure out if it was supposed to be funny or serious:

But when Sandra Oh ended with "faces of change" and "because see you" you know a healthy percentage of men in the room were thinking, "oh shit."
Came off as extremely awkward. should have stuck with berating Jim Carrey
thought this year was a little boring. Posting here for a movie that deserves it's own thread. If you have amazon go watch "Leave No Trace." Ben Foster should definitely have been nominated. 100% on Rotten Tomatoes BTW.
Gut wrenching sad movie.
And LG got banned for history of shitty behavior. I miss political threads but shit stirring to provoke internet anger helps nothing here.

Which was pretty weird, as well. He was in on it? Mic'd up? Or wasn't? Ehhhhh, yeah, not funny.
I think the funniest thing for me was Oh's mom just ... not being impressed at all after she did the impersonation of Asian moms not being impressed. lol

I understand, but he essentially said a Hollywood awards show is (surprise) like a political rally. And people are TRIGGERED. lol Again, I think that's funny AF.

He always has been
Glad some of you guys enjoy watching the self-aggrandizing circle jerk.

Or are interested in what critics think of movies that we may not have seen or had on our radar. Either way....

It was obvious what his agenda was at this point. The fact that he is a supposed lawyer and that tone deaf is pretty scary.
But Lady Gaga blew me away on A Star Is Born. I really enjoyed that movie...How good is Bradley Cooper?
And one of my favorite films this past year was Spiderman: Into the Spiderverse. Tremendous amount of fun!

Spiderman was great but also an amazing innovation in animation. I hope it wins an Oscar.
