CBS Article: Giants a potential Flacco trade partner

Les in TO : 1/7/2019 6:15 am
I can see this if Eli retires and the Giants aren’t crazy about any of the prospects in the draft.
Link - ( New Window )
And it’s not even a slow news day!
Rafflee : 1/7/2019 6:28 am : link
Absolute nonsense
I can’t see anyway that happens
mattyblue : 1/7/2019 6:31 am : link
the article also mentions Oakland as a destination which makes even less sense. I know a lot of people don’t like Carr but I still think he’s a good QB and could thrive in the right system. I have also noticed that Sy mentioned Carr as someone he’d be interested in as well, So at least I know I’m not totally insane lol. I wouldn’t give up a super high pick for Carr but if we had a third I would do it in a heartbeat. Maybe like a 3rd and a 5th type of deal, I wouldn’t even cry over a 2nd rounder for him. None of that is going to happen though. Eli will start the season for the Giants, not sure he will finish the year as the starter but he will be back.
Not a Chance

It would be replacing Eli with Eli.
Uggghhh

No

Might be more immobile than Eli. Think he'll end up in Washington. Foles with the Jags.
This would be THE dumbest move ever...
bw in dc : 1/7/2019 7:44 am : link
Flacco is one of the great one-hit wonders in the NFL. A total fraud as a so called “franchise QB”. Completely underperformed to the massive contract he received after his magic carpet ride in 2013.

If this is the plan by Jints Central, I’d rather keep Eli. And that was the dumbest move ever before this speculation...
Nah
JonC : 1/7/2019 7:44 am : link
he'll be 34 and brings many of the same deficiencies we've endured with Eli.

Trading Flacco to Washington is not going to happen. They don't have the room to absorb the guaranteed money to Alex Smith and Flacco's contract ($18.5M in 2019, $20M in 2020, $24.5M in 2021). I'm not that convinced an actual trade market will be there for Joe. If no market is there, the Ravens will eat the $16M dead cap hit.

It actually would be replacing Eli with a lesser Eli!
No way

they give up something for Flacco. That makes no sense.

Think he'll be released.
Not sure I have seen a more miserable person on the bench

in quite a while.

The network had a dedicated camera on him and Jackson...
lol

The people who think Eli is done would be in for a real treat. It would almost be worth it for the entertainment value around here alone since we aren't going anywhere in 2019 no matter who is QB with the rest of this team's deficiencies.
I'll take "Ideas that make no sense" for $500, Alex

I see in Dawg’s thread,
Big Blue '56 : 1/7/2019 8:31 am : link
a headline from Pat Leonard saying Foles would be the perfect transition QB for the Giants
Trade?
Toth029 : 1/7/2019 8:48 am : link
As in take over his contract? Why even write such terrible filth.

Better not. Would be worse than Ogletree trade and Stewart signing
ArcadeSlumlord : 1/7/2019 8:59 am : link
Would rather go all in on Foles in FA and run the damn RPO. Then dump all remaining assets into OLINE and win the Supe.

Agree, it is pure click-bait. We have many that wants Eli to play for less than his yearly cash earnings of $17M. But a lesser version of Eli will be paid more? Hey, let's write an article.

If the Giants truly feel they will

get a QB in the first round this year or next year, just keep Eli around. There is almost no point to bring in another veteran QB to hold the fort down. Unless Eli went into Gettleman's office last week and went all Kerry Collins on him, I don't think Eli has much of a concern knowing his role in the next year is to groom his successor.

I only see as a possibility if Eli retires leaving us with Tanney and Lauletta as QBs
if we're taking Flacco off their hands
giants#1 : 1/7/2019 9:18 am : link
they better be sending a pick our way a la Brock Osweiler.

^This. Plus a monstrous cap number. No way.
There will be articles all off season
Mike from Ohio : 1/7/2019 9:54 am : link
linking the Giants to every available QB via free agency, trade and the draft. All of them don't warrant serious attention like this one.

Agreed, Acquiring Flacco is a lateral move.

Obviously this writer has no idea what goes on with the Giants. Why bring in a worse version of Eli? Go young at that point.
