The Knicks have received inquiries about Enes Kanter from other teams already, league sources tell The Athletic, and they are listening, but no deal is imminent. The two sides haven’t considered a buyout yet.
I'd be surprised if they could even deal him for
Strahan91 : 1/7/2019 11:00 am : link
equivalent dollar amount expiring contracts. My guess is this is like the Lee trade rumors from last year and this summer where teams are willing to take a guy but want you to take back salary or give them an asset. Neither of which I have any interest in and I doubt the Knicks do either.
Good.
Anakim : 1/7/2019 11:02 am : link
He's good for a double-double every game. I mean they're empty stats when it comes to him, but still.
i struggle to think
hitdog42 : 1/7/2019 11:05 am : link
which teams he fits that would be buyers
he has a role but tough to figure with whom
MCW
DanMetroMan : 1/7/2019 11:07 am : link
traded to the Bulls for a conditional second

-Nuggets very interested in Love

-Ask for Beal "immense"

-Wolves shopping Wiggins
Jonathan Givony's latest mock has us taking Reddish at 5.
bceagle05 : 1/7/2019 11:08 am : link
Zion/RJ/Little/Morant are top 4, Langford/Garland are 6/7.
the only reason to trade
Pep22 : 1/7/2019 11:12 am : link
Kanter is for another expiring contract and some young asset i.e. a 2nd rounder; still I anticipate they'll just release him at the deadline and he'll go to Houston or some team that is in the playoffs and is BIG poor

MCW is terrible. Stupid trade...
Love and Jokic may be the slowest front court since god knows...
Beal is a prize.... Wizards wont get the moon though.
Wiggins isnt good and no one will want that contract. I wonder if a team like Sacramento would trade Justin Jackson and maybe Skal for him?
Apparently

Monk to the wolves would be interesting. He needs a place for PT and they desperately need a starting SG. Rose is better off the bench.

Mike here is the link

But notably his ws/48 is down from last year, his PER is down from last year (11.2). He's shooting an unbelievably bad 43% from the line. I think Walton is going to be canned soon. The young Lakers have not performed.
Link - ( New Window )
Ingram
DanMetroMan : 1/7/2019 11:27 am : link
hasn't progressed either. Kuzma is a very solid player but overall this "young Lakers core" hasn't done much of anything. I think they will dump these guys for another guy to pair with Lebron. If they really turned down giving up Ingram in a deal for Leonard.. oof.
I am not sure how much Lonzo
dep026 : 1/7/2019 11:28 am : link
loves basketball. It seems like he is more interested in the outside part of it. He is not a very good player. Neither is Liangelo. Lamelo may the best, but no one is going to want him.
Feel
Jon in NYC : 1/7/2019 11:40 am : link
like Ja Morant should be getting more love if the Knicks fall past 2.

He's doing Russ level stuff. Not quite as explosive, but not too far off and already a better shooter.
Lonzo
Pep22 : 1/7/2019 11:41 am : link
I just don't think LAL has put him in a position to succeed. His best asset is running a team and he doesn't really get that opportunity w Lebron and to a lesser extent Rondo. I understand Lebron has been hurt for 5 games and Rondo hurt quite a bit more.
Move
TommyWiseau : 1/7/2019 11:44 am : link
Kanter for some 2nd round picks or let him expire. Do not take back salary
Sleeper
DanMetroMan : 1/7/2019 11:46 am : link
is Keldon Johnson. Wouldn't be shocked if he's the pick if he's there.

6'6 215. Shooting 53% from the field, 43% from 3 (limited attempts) 16 and 6 with 2 assists, strong defensive rep.

Nice complement to Knox and KP, too - a slasher to go with our wing scorer and All-Star big man. Damn good foundation.
Langford's been playing better recently BUT
bceagle05 : 1/7/2019 11:49 am : link
he's shooting 22% from three - that ain't gonna cut it. Has the rep of being a tireless worker, so I'm sure that number will go up quite a bit in the next few years.
the media driven
MookGiants : 1/7/2019 11:50 am : link
narrative that the Lakers have a chance to get Anthony Davis via trade is ridiculous.

Every package the Lakers could come up with would be filled with nothing but trash.

Ingram stinks. Ball stinks. Kuzma is meh.

Ball can't even make a free throw

He isn't any good, doesn't have much to do with anything besides him not being any good. Rondo and LeBron arent playing now and he has sucked without them on the floor. He went #2 but he's been a total bust so far
that seems strong
Pep22 : 1/7/2019 11:58 am : link
granted his shooting isn't good and doesn't get to the rack (two major problems) but he is a borderline elite defender that rebounds and passes at a high level

67% from the field, 2.5 blocks, 10 boards. I have my concerns with his game vs. the modern game but Clint Capela says hi.

Completely agree, think he could will them to a win or possibly 2 in the Tournament.

I love Morant. Love his competitiveness.
Wouldn't surprise me if Barrett fell behind the likes of Morant,
Anakim : 1/7/2019 12:54 pm : link
Langford and Little. Reddish has slid also.
You'll be lucky to get a 2nd rd pick for him...
GFAN52 : 1/7/2019 1:42 pm : link
given his contract is expiring.

Stefan Bondy, in a lengthy discussion of why Kristaps Porzingis may not be a done deal for the Knicks next July, signals that the Unicorn could interest the Nets.

Bondy writes:

[W]atch out for the Brooklyn Nets. Sean Marks, the team’s GM, is high on Porzingis, according to a source, and has a history of offering big money to restricted free agents.

Spurs and Clippers also reportedly lurking
Don't think there's a chance in hell they'd let him go to the Nets
Greg from LI : 1/8/2019 10:36 am : link
.
The Bondy KP stuff is just his way of
Strahan91 : 1/8/2019 10:37 am : link
trying to rile up the fanbase because of the way MSG treats him (which is well deserved imo). KP is a RFA. If he signs an offer sheet the Knicks could match. He could sign his tender and become an UFA next year but coming off an ACL tear he's going to take that risk? I'm not buying it for a second.
the only nets angle
hitdog42 : 1/8/2019 10:38 am : link
would be them trying to get a funky RFA offer that hurts the knicks flexibility.
I understand BPA, but we need guards. Morant should be the target,
Jim in Hoboken : 1/8/2019 10:39 am : link
provided we are not in range for Zion. Kevin Porter is intriguing, but he’s been out. I’d rank him right behind Morant.
Bondy might
Enzo : 1/8/2019 10:45 am : link
be even be worse than Isola. Yes the Knicks took a risk in not extending him over the summer, but how do you write that article and not mention that it's basically unheard of for players in KP's situation to play for the qualifying offer - and that other teams have used this strategy (e.g. Spurs with Kawhi) to maximize cap space. It's amazing how many lousy writers we have covering sports in this town.
Dolan
DanMetroMan : 1/8/2019 10:46 am : link
actually mentioned Williamson. Wouldn't shock me to see him get slapped with a fine.
Bondy is mad
nygiants16 : 1/8/2019 11:16 am : link
because the knicks give him no access so now he has to make up stories to drive clicks and create a shit storm..

It is not the fans why you can not rebuild in new york, it is the crappy media..
bondy is the biggest clown
hitdog42 : 1/8/2019 11:28 am : link
he spent the first 2 months of the season trolling sean marks
now the nets are playing better, and he got shut out from the knicks, so he is trolling the knicks.

offers zero info of relevance.
The Daily News always has an abundance of clowns
bceagle05 : 1/8/2019 11:31 am : link
who use the same playbook - Gary Myers, Mike Lupica, Manish Mehta, Bob Raissman, Pat Leonard, Frank Isola, Stefan Bondy, etc. I could go on and on. Baseball columnist John Harper is the one guy who's done things the right way - he's a unicorn in that group.
the whole thing is stupid..
Italianju : 1/8/2019 11:47 am : link
but his reasoning being that the nets GM is "high" on porzingis is hilarious. Show me the GM who isnt high on him. Its not like Marks has found a diamond in the rough he is trying to steal
So Bondy is saying that
Really : 1/8/2019 11:52 am : link
Kp MAY not be a done deal and he COULD be of interest to the Nets.

Thats newsworthy?

Thats Journalism?

Must be nice to have a famous daddy.

Clicks are a hell of a drug, huh?
