How and when does this team get a real free safety?

Dave in PA : 1/7/2019 6:02 pm
Draft? Free agency? Who are day 2 prospects that might be worth their second round pick? Who are free agents worth looking at?
great

question - they need someone back there to QB the secondary.
Trade down perhaps from 6

And take my guy Deionte Thompson. Let him roam CF for a decade.
Isn't Clinon Dix a free agent

He looked cooked in Washington. That could have been more Washington and not him.
Tre Boston, Lamarcus Joyner
jeff57 : 1/7/2019 6:22 pm : link
Or Earl Thomas. FA.
Who was the last Giants (better than average) free safety?

Boston might be a realistic FA target. Joyner and Thomas are going to cost a ton.

The problem with making FS a priority
robbieballs2003 : 1/7/2019 6:45 pm : link
is that no player, not even Ed Reed, will improve this D without us being able to stop the run and get after the QB. So, with all things being equal I expect us to really focus on building that front seven of our D. With that said, FS and CB are huge needs for us so if the value is there for us then absolutely go for it.

This exactly. Need to fix the DL first and foremost, then worrry about the LBs and secondary
Tre Boston !

He can play CB as well tired of having zero impact from
the FS . First two picks have to be O-line and Edge rusher
With no third round pick we can move up with our two
fourth round picks to go after another line player hopefully
a center . Really IMO have to come out of this draft
with two starters for the O-line and hopefully a center
to anchor the weak middle . I like Josh Allen at #6 but
I wouldn't mind Williams the LT plug him in at RT or
Guard maybe sign Matt Paradis .
Honey Badger?
kdog77 : 1/7/2019 7:18 pm : link
He is 26 years old UFA, but I am not sure that Giants can afford him if they re-sign Collins. He should be familiar with Bettcher's scheme.
If I'm not mistaken...
Ryan : 1/7/2019 9:12 pm : link
..Gettleman drafted Boston and they cut him in favor of 52 year old Mike Adams.
I think they are going to have to get lucky here
rasbutant : 1/7/2019 11:17 pm : link
Only so many premium picks to go around and free agents just cost too much. Need a late round pick or unknown fa to step up. Girbril wilson type.
FS is not high on my list guys...
EricJ : 1/8/2019 6:45 am : link
The beef up front and the pass rush is more important.
Honey Badger..
KingBlue : 1/8/2019 9:43 am : link
is an Unrestricted Free Agent. He should be a target in free agency. He is a gamer. I would love to see him in blue.

I think if you can get an Ed Reed or Sean Taylor, I don't know, I think you do it. Those guys are game changers.

And it's not like you aren't drafting for those other areas in the next rounds, and can find players.
