who had 11 college games under his belt and hasn't played competitively in 2 years. How many pros have trouble readjusting after being out 2 years? Plus, so much of QB is mental, he'd be missing a lot of valuable experience in reading defenses and making good decisions.
If Lawrence was in this draft somehow, there is zero chance he wouldn't be the top pick. Even if you don't think he's ready (and yes, he does need to put on some bulk), you draft and stash him. He made some throws last night that defy description.
Not putting his performance down at all. Keep in mind, though, that he had some big, fast receivers catching those balls- Sterling Shepard doesn't make those plays
If giants didn’t get to draft him, same crowd would be angry about allowing players to come out too early like they do in basketball..,you know integrity of college game and all...
He truly will benefit from at least one more year in the minors to learn the more of the game. Don’t forget, he looked lost a few times this year and truly got better each week.
Though he does have a tendency to be an easy target for really bad looking hits.
Tooo bad they don’t let these guys get the proper pwecentwge of Merchandise $, endorsements or sponsorships they rightfully deserve for theIr personal brand in college.
were sure fire #1 and #2 in the college draft in 2020 as freshman. Now after not such great end of season games, they are not the flavor of the month. I'd think that NFL coaches would want him to play to keep up his skills and improve his play. People sit here and complain Haskins doesn't get pressure so you cannot trust what he will do under pressure. Monday night, Lawrence's WRs made some pretty outstanding catches on some meh throws and Lawrence was not under pressure either. Not to say he did not make some great throws or earn the hoopla. Before he gets put in Canton, let him get out of college. Oh, and can the QB runs and keepers.
There are so many other reasons not related to money to stay
It will be a sad day if college football becomes one and some as has college basketball.
I think all college sports should follow the baseball model. If you can get drafted out of high school, by all means go. If you go to college, you must stay at least three years, or, I think, when you turn 20...
If not, then NFL should allow exceptions for those who may show precocious skills - like a Lawrence. Let them appeal to a committee; and if the committee determines you are definite first round material, then grant the exception to go.
Reasonable enough to discuss, but he’s obviously going to play Â
That said, while he was trying to win a national championship and giving it everything he had, he should probably learn not to stick his head in on QB keepers and take on linebackers and safeties to fight for extra yards so often, the way he did several times Monday night.
Nothing wrong with sliding and protecting your head Kyle
He would basically be Mark Sanchez - a good talent from a good QB oriented program with one good season under his belt.
Lawrence didn't really start until the fourth week of the season. Despite that, he put up 30TDs/4 INTs, completed 65% of his passes. He's 6'5", 215. Plus, he was a huge factor in bringing home the brass.
Lawrence is bigger, better arm, makes better decisions, etc than Sanchez. And he's only 19.
He's worlds more advanced than Mark Sanchez. The better comps are Peyton Manning and Andrew Luck.
What is guaranteed money for top drafted QB? 30 million I think

discussion is nuts.
Clemson is not going to allow sitting out for ANY length of time unless the kid is injured.
He plays.
Clemson has no say whether or not he plays. If Lwrence after his Sophomore season says he is done, well he is done.
Ha! Shows you what I know about college sports...thanks Dep.

There are undoubtedly lots of reasons to stay, but I think it's quite naive to say the only reason to leave is money.
That would show the NFL what a great team player this guy is by dropping out of college football for 2 years to try and cash in. SMH
