Another article/opinion on OBJ trade...

KingBlue : 1/8/2019 10:06 am
It's just chatter and is not based on any knowledge or even any suggestion that it is a possibility. I only bring it here because I suspect some would jump at the offer.

What say you... if SF offered their 1st and third for OBJ?

That would give the Giants # 2 and # 6 and a high 3rd.

Would you consider this offer if it was real?

OBJ to SF - ( New Window )
I don’t want to trade such a weapon who is still young, but
Big Blue '56 : 1/8/2019 10:08 am : link
I’ll play. The 1st and 3rd would be fine, IF they threw in a 1st or a 2nd and 3rd next year
Personally...
KingBlue : 1/8/2019 10:16 am : link
I wouldn't trade OBJ... especially for the proposed offer. But I'm sure others will consider the proposal intriguing. Maybe to grab Haskins, an ER and a very good player in the 3rd
I'd swap picks and take a couple 2nds
ghost718 : 1/8/2019 10:25 am : link
or a first next year.

2nd overall pick straight up for Beckham? Good luck
No way I’d contemplate swapping picks.
Big Blue '56 : 1/8/2019 10:27 am : link
For starters, we’d get their 2nd overall pick and keep our 6th
this year's 1st and 2nd
markky : 1/8/2019 10:31 am : link
and next year's 1st to start.
Sounds like you're not interested in trading him
ghost718 : 1/8/2019 10:32 am : link
.
The
AcidTest : 1/8/2019 10:33 am : link
arguments for trading him are his skirting team rules (which I don't think is a problem), the emergence of Engram at the end of the season, the injuries he's had the last two years, and a manageable cap hit if you do so.

I still wouldn't trade him unless the offer was ridiculous. He's an absolute game changer, and a generational player.

Your proposal has far less value than the proposal on the table...
2 1's and a 2 for Beckham?

coming off of two injured seasons and making a ton of cash?

Crazy stuff.
He is not

I think it depends
Jay in Toronto : 1/8/2019 11:04 am : link
on what the Jints think about his record of injuries and whether this past year has had a negative effect on the locker-room.
Players get injuries. Many times through no fault

of their own, like this particular one this year.

He should not be labeled injury prone. I wouldn’t even infer or imply it
Yes because its such a good idea
blueblood : 1/8/2019 11:09 am : link
to trade one of the best players at his position, and one of the best ever so far in his career, for the completely UNKNOWN quantity , create a hole in your offense AND a cap hit...

YES such a good idea.

Very few want him traded. I sure don’t. But if he was, we’re simply stating what we should receive in return. It’s just for discussion purposes, nothing more. At least for me
Oh man, I’m hoping this talk stops
exiled : 1/8/2019 11:19 am : link
Let’s NOT trade one of our best players, a superstar, one of the few reasons fans are still watching the Giants.

His injuries are gonna have to get way worse before I can take any of this seriously.
Do not think Niners
TMS : 1/8/2019 2:09 pm : link
do that deal.
The 49ers aren't trading the 2nd overall for Beckham
Go Terps : 1/8/2019 2:18 pm : link
If they do, they're high.

Look at the top 6 guys from last year's draft:

Mayfield
Barkley
Darnold
Ward
Chubb
Nelson

None of those teams would trade one of those guys for Beckham straight up, and we wouldn't trade Barkley for Beckham if he were on another team.

Hugely unrealistic.
I mean, I'd trade Beckham if they gave up their #2 overall pick.
FStubbs : 1/8/2019 2:22 pm : link
Throwing in a third as well? I'm taking that and running.

Don't read this as me thinking Beckham must be traded, but that's an offer you can't refuse. Work out the cap details later.

On top of that, when was the last time a top 5 pick was traded for a current player?
100% yes
PaulN : 1/8/2019 2:28 pm : link
What is our record with Beckham as our great player. Sorry, but trading him, seems to me a very smart move, save cap, add draft picks and get rid of a real head case seems like a win, win, win to me and a no brainer.
ok i will play... 1st and 2nd , next years 1st and Greg Kittle

PaulN : 1/8/2019 2:32 pm : link
We were a win now team, with a young franchise QB, this answer would be different. Sometimes circumstances dictate the course of action, plus we have not won with him, if we had a franchise QB and the record was the same as it was since we had Beckham, we would be screaming no matter what his stats said, losing is losing, pretty or ugly, why is it different with a wide receiver, it isn't and shouldn't be.

Six losing seasons in Michael Strahan's career. TRAID.
Although, I am not for trading OBJ...
KingBlue : 1/8/2019 2:39 pm : link
If we are indeed looking at QB and Haskins is our guy then in all likelihood we will need to trade up from 6 to get him. If sold on Haskins, then this proposal allows you to get your QB without giving up a boatload of picks, keep your #6, your second and add a high third. You have the remaining 9 picks left to roster build.

Interesting offer.

His contract wouldn't necessarily be "a ton of cash" to the team trading for him since they wouldn't be on the hook at all for his signing bonus.

I'm not remotely in favor of trading him, but the contract wouldn't be an obstacle for any teams that might be interested. If anything, he'd be more attractive as a trade target since the acquiring team wouldn't need to sign him to a new contract themselves (unlike Khalil Mack, for example).

Are we going to do this every day?

Beckham isn't getting traded. It's a waste of time.

You’re not getting that much for a wr. He had better be 23 and perfect. Obj is great but he isn’t 23 and he isn’t perfect.
OBJ is a great talent
TMS : 1/9/2019 5:26 pm : link
as he proved in his first year. Since then his value has dropped quite a bit. Injuries and missed games, for a smallish WR, who acts out often, during and after the season is over, has diminished his value quite a bit. Lucky to get a top ten pick for him, never mind the second pick in the draft at this point. Unless you have a targeted player on draft day. We have good WRs receivers, without him, and he has not been making that much of a difference WHEN he plays. MO

The Giants have 1 year of Sterling Shepard, restricted rights to Corey Coleman, then Jawill Davis, and Quarter Henderson.

You subtract Beckham and the Giants have the worst WR group I can think of in the NFL.
Said he is worth a top ten pock

to a team that thinks he will take them to the promised land. The SF suggestion is wishful thinking. Love his skill set, but what some here, think he is worth is not realistic. Sorry to offend anyone.
You didn't "offend" anyone.
