New York and Sacramento discussing an Enes Kanter-Zach Randolph trade of expiring contracts, but nothing close yet, league sources tell ESPN. Kings would want to send out more expirings in a deal. Kanter is out of rotation and wants chance to play. A third team could be helpful.
Haha, he deleted his original tweet for that reason and tweeted:

Regardless, if it's just Kanter for Z-Bo you're just giving Kanter away for nothing, but you do get to clear the difference between their salaries (about $7 million)...which then gives us the opportunity to absorb a contract at the deadline from a team looking to cut their tax bill or whatever. In short, this might be an opportunity to grab an extra second round pick or two, or a contender's crappy first rounder.
The purpose for Sacto would be to add a rotational BIG.
The purpose for NYK would be a) to free up more minutes for Robinson, Kornet b) another tank move c) probably get some young asset i.e. Frank Mason or a 2nd rounder.

I also think they could potentially flip Z Bo's expiring
he's actually in their rotation and playing well (for him) this year.
Upside for Kings is that they add 3 potential rotation guys for 3 guys that barely play for them. Downside is obviously they take on Lee's contract for next season.
Bagley
Koustas
Giles
Skal
Kanter..
jesus christ, they dont have a clue.

This. This is why I asked what the point of the deal was. Its a wash for Knicks and the Kings have no need for Kanter.
Also, youre assuming Vlade knows what hes doing.
Hell I'd take a flier on Skal or Giles
Also, youre assuming Vlade knows what hes doing.
Giles is already back in the NBA. Has played the last 3 games.

Maybe they don't think he's ready? Trying to be optimistic lol

Someone stated above that Shump is actually playing well this year (for him). I don't know why they would trade Shump if they're going to make a push for the playoffs.
I can't see it unless they give a max to a guy that otherwise wasn't going to get one. Ever since Ranadiv bought the team, it seems like things have been a mess over there. They have some interesting pieces and Fox is a stud but he's not the type of transcendent player that makes guys ignore the other stuff with an organization. They're also not in a city/market that I would think would be of all that much interest to a big FA.
Kanter
Lee
Ntilikina
NYK Gets:
Randolph (will be released)
Koufos (will be released)
Mason
NYK choice of Labasierre, Giles or Jackson
Yes, it means they're giving up on Ntilikina but they replace some youth with Mason plus the choice of SL, HG or JJ plus you add 12mm to next year's FA budget.
correct, the key reason would be a young asset to accompany Zach

Thats a great trade. And Id take Harry Giles in a heartbeat Hes got the most upside
New York is discussing a deal to send Kanter to the Kings for former Knick Zach Randolph, as ESPN reported. However, a source told the Daily News its very early in the negotiations. In other words, nothing is imminent.
Both players are in the final year of their contracts and, on the surface, a deal for the Knicks makes little sense without a sweetener coming back like a future second-round pick.
Randolph, 37, who hasnt played at all this season for Sacramento, has no place on the Knicks roster and doesn't fit the direction of the team. They might as well just buy out Kanter and free up a roster spot.
But the Knicks could also save a couple million dollars in the deal, depending on what other player they receive. Thats certainly an incentive. Kanter is making $18.6 million this season, compared to Randolphs $11.6 million. ESPN reported that the Kings, who are pushing for the playoffs, want to add additional expiring deals to even out the money, perhaps by recruiting a third team.
There's probably a reason for that. What that reason is, I'm not sure we'll ever know. Rumors reported by Woj typically have some agenda as a favor for a team or agent in exchange for scoops.

i agree, but most of the time when it comes to trades he doesnt report unless it is close..

This makes the most sense for both sides. As you said, Kings improve at 3 spots and only have to take on 11Mil next year for a player that will still be in their rotation.
That is a FORMIDABLE front line!
hahahaha....oh dear god why do I still bother with this team?

In order to become an unrestricted free agent in 2020, Kristaps Porzingis would have to leave 150 million dollars on the table and, instead, willingly choose to play for just $7.5 million.
The NBA CBA makes it a very difficult choice for players to leave their original teams.
I think it is a made up story by bondy to generate clicks, it is what the dailynews does

Probably, or he was just adding 2 and 2 together because KP seems like the ultimate Pops player.
A swap of Kanter for Randolph would be a cap-neutral move for New York. Although it would save owner Jim Dolan some money this year, contracts for both players expire at the end of this season. Thus, it wouldnt help the Knicks clear any additional cap space for 2019-20 and beyond.
However, since the two teams are already engaged in trade conversations, New York should undoubtedly gauge Sacramentos interest in Tim Hardaway Jr. and Courtney Lee.
The Kings already have a pair of quality wing scorers on their roster in Buddy Hield and Bogdan Bogdanovic. Yet, the presence of these two sharpshooters did not stop Sacramento from signing Chicago Bulls restricted free agent Zach LaVine to a four-year, $78 million offer sheet back in July. The Bulls ended up matching the Kings offer, and LaVine remained in the Windy City. The Kings ended up signing Yogi Ferrell to a two-year $6.2 million pact later in July. However, Ferrell hasnt lived up to expectations in Sacramento, as hes averaging 5.8 points in 13.6 minutes. Hes also been a liability defensively. Of all rotation regulars, Ferrell has the lowest Net Rating on the team.
