Rooney: "Hard to Envision" Antonio Brown staying with team

And says he won't release him. Which seems to mean has to be traded but Rooney won't say that in so many words.

If I'm the Jets, I'd probably go after Brown AND Bell.
Could they suspend him indefinitely

And just not pay him?

They wanted OBJ and Brown does have his singing career as a sideline.
The Giants should give up their first for him

Are the Steelers Racist?

I thought I'd ask given how some in another thread seemed to raise the specter regarding how the Giants treat certain players. You know they wouldn't pay Bell, they want to get rid of Brown, and they're extending Roethlisberger even though he seems to throw players of a certain quantity of melanin under the bus almost as much as he throws the rock. On the other hand, there is the Rooney Rule.

Of those teams, Niners' fans seem to be most on-board with the idea. They have Garappolo coming back and are tired of losing.

Jets/Pats/Bills fans have all been discussing AB since the Bengals' game but not that interested. Jets/Bills are perhaps in too much of a rebuild for AB, who will be turning 31. And Pats' fans just went through Josh Gordon.

Great topic but it should really have its own thread. In other words, what's everyones thought on taking a generational RB at 2?

The last thing that I would want to do is bring Brown into that locker room with Darnold. Bell makes a lot of sense and the Jets will go hard for him but Bell is eyeing the Colts apparently and they want him as well plus they have the most cap room in the NFL. Bell behind that offensive line will be very dangerous for a year or two.

The Jets are the kind of team that just desperately need offensive talent. Brown is a douchebag but if they gave Darnold both Brown and Bell I think they'd make huge offensive strides.

Their WR's are awful. Enunwa and Robby Anderson are good depth guys. Neither is close to a WR1.

They drafted Darnold and have him running an offense with literally zero weapons. The Jets don't have a single skill player that scares anyone.

They have cap space and I think going for Brown and Bell would be the type of aggressive move that would shoot them back into relevance.

I get the character concerns, etc. I just think a team in the Jets situation sometimes needs to prioritize talent and put themselves back on the map. They've been utterly irrelevant for nearly a decade again. 8 straight years out of the playoffs.

I don't always agree with it, but Dallas routinely takes risks and it's hard to argue with their recent results - they keep winning football games and keep making the playoffs.

The Jets need to be more bold otherwise they're just going to be stuck spinning their wheels like they've been forever.

Pats' fans doubt Steelers will send AB to them at any reasonable price.

And Pitt may want to get him out of the conference altogether.

I hear you.

I was just suggesting the team that has demonstrated a capacity to deal with characters like Brown.

STFU and let the other side talk.

Saying he cannot envision AB being on the team next year weakens the team's ability to negotiate the best deal for themselves.

With Tate, I think they are good actually with their WR corp.

Now LBell? I could see them targeting him instead.

Tate is a free agent after this year, if I am not mistaken. I would think Bell would also be a target for them.

Yeah so one of two teams in the entire NFL with a black head coach is racist. OK, hope you're joking. Couldn't possibly be that AB's own actions has destroyed his reputation in that locker room.

January 2019...not surprising

eclipz928 : 1/11/2019 6:55 pm : link
that would lend me to think that the Steelers ownership is racist - however, I do think that when an organization sticks by a contraversial player it can cause some strain and dissention in the locker room. Might be what we're seeing in Pittsburgh.

maybe instead of racism, the Steelers have just grown tired of Prima Donnas, Brown and Bell. They have been in this business a long time, maybe, they know when to cut bait, and move on. But, victims gotta be victims.
