Sorry for the bad joke. I was watching his highlights on youtube and he reminds me of someone I've watched before, but i couldn't put my finger on it until last night.
I admit i haven't watched much Geno Smith outside a Giants uniform. I just went to youtube to watch him in college and i feel like after one video I just watch another Haskins highlight reel.
Anyone one with more knowledge see a little (or a lot) of Geno Smith in Haskins?
Do you agree, disagree???

Haskins is a pro style qb who is phenomenal at reading the defense and calling out the blitz pick up calls. There is a reason he was rarely pressured, and it wasn't always Ohio State's line. The line had a lot of injuries this year. He also has a cannon of an arm. Not as fast as Geno.
When i watch his video i see the deep ball travel the same way, i see a similar quick release, strong arm. Mobile enough, but not someone making highlight after highlight with their feet. The way they stand in the pocket, body language. Smith does look smaller, not as stout.

Perfect summary sir
Has great arm strength and isn’t afraid to use it.
Is a very accurate passer
Excellent mechanics, especially with regards to his footwork.
Has enough speed to elude pass rushers but still plays the game like a pure pocket passer. This will lend itself to a long..er and healthy..er career in the NFL.
A work-ethic and competitive nature that separates himself from the other quarterbacks in this class.
Sees the field very well.
The Not so Goods
Played his college ball almost exclusively in the shotgun or pistol formation.
Had an excellent receiving corps, with in itself isn’t a bad thing. It just means that his stats could have been aided greatly as a result, which could be a flag for scouts.
Questionable decision making at times.
Could improve upon his accuracy.
It just goes to show that it takes more than the physical talent to be a pro QB.
It is hard to speculate how a player will transition to the pro game.
Haskins has great skills and he reads defenses well. But he has done it in 14 games, 10 of which were against inferior competition.
Is there enough to convince the Giants that Haskins will be a great pro?
You can look good in college....the NFL is quite a different matter....
In 590 PA he had a 70% completion percentage for his career facing some of the best competition in football. The NCAA D1 record is Colt Brennan at 70.4% and he played at Hawaii. You can't get more accurate than Haskins.

Outside of them being both African-American and around the same size, they don't remotely throw the ball the same way or play QB that same way.
The key to Wentz is he played several years as a starter where Haskins only started 1 year.
What is more important? Level of play or number of starts?
That's really not fair. So now no one can compare two black QB's?
Exactly. And the OP makes a fine comparison. Geno was not a scrambler, was a pocket passer who benefited from his college offense. I'll contend that had he been in a proper situation from day one in the NFL Geno could have been a fine QB. Shame people always have to drag race into a conversation.
I do not love Haskins at 6. I want a bonafide blue chip guy at that number. I'd much rather another year of Eli with better defense and an upgrade at center and RT.
Much more intrigued by Daniel Jones in the 2nd or moving up into the late first if he sticks around.
Well, I read that Michigan sent a blitz 75 percent of the time against Ohio State, but Haskins rarely saw pressure. It sounds like reading a defense and adjusting his protection is a strength with this guy.
A big sloth who does everything slow.

While nobody will confuse Haskins for Kyler Murray he is a much better athlete than Leftwich. I see alot of Roethlisberger in Haskins but Haskins is a little faster.
Geno Smith did not fail due to lack of talent. He failed because of a lack of intelligence, inability to properly read defenses, and was lacking in leadership qualities necessary for a starting QB in the NFL.
Haskins' arm impresses me a lot more than Smiths did. Haskins looks to me like a guy who can make all of the throws.
He's a pocket passer. He can move around when he needs to, but no one is going to confuse him with Tyrod Taylor.
This player is growing on me a lot and I'm starting to hope we take him.
But Geno had a pretty strong arm as well and they do look similar when they are moving around because of their similar body types. I think Haskins is a more advanced passer at the same stage but I think Geno is a fair “worst case” scenario for Haskins.

I saw Geno Smith a few times in college and I never understood the hype. I thought the same when watching Bridgewater and Bortles in college. Bridgewater rarely rthrew deep. The majority of his passes were high percentage short to intermediate throws.
Haskins can throw the entire route tree with effectiveness. Smith, for example, has nowhere near Haskins's ability to throw outside the hash marks. Further, I would bet Haskins gets considerably more velocity and spin than Smith.
At this early stage of his career, Haskins is way ahead of Smith in pocket presence and understanding.
Frankly, I don't think they are that close as NFL prospects from this point of their college career.
The comparison to Leftwich is lazy. The better comparison to Haskins is maybe Jameis Winston.
