I just learned something new today that blew my mind: black raspberry is a real fruit.
I always thought this was an artificial flavor and never realized it was an actual fruit. Unreal.
What is something you just learned that you assume everyone else already knows?
According to this Terry Moore Ted talk

Kind of blew my mind...
If you're going to do that, just get some coconut oil and pop it in a pan on the stove.
road and rhode is pure ignorance.
the island part is because Rhode Island was formed by the combination of multiple "colonies". Aquidnick (Narragansett word) Island (which is an island - Newport and Portsmouth are on Aquidnick Island) and other colonies.
Aquidnick official anglo name is Rhode Island
Aquidnick merged with Providence and (Warick?) to form a state formally known as State of Rhode Island and Providence Plantations.
The State of Rhode Island and Providence Plantations is still the official name of Rhode Island.

You are assuming this is common knowledge?

No, unless you live in RI then it's taught in elementary school, but Anakim sort of changed the topic.
I can't have my wages garnisheed
Watching Norm McDonald's talk show episode with Chevy Chase, they discussed
1) how Fletch was "up there" as far as Chevy's favorite of his 55 films he has done, and how much of that movie was "off script," or completely adlibbed by Chase. Need to rewatch it again soon now.
2) and this blew my fucking mind - Chevy Chase was the original drummer for Steely Dan.
Let that one sink in. Who knew that? I sure as hell did not.
McDonald also mentioned how a fair number of comics were drummers ... he mentioned a few by name (can't recall which ones, but I think Jimmy Fallon and Johnny Carson?) and Chevy, dead pan, says, "they weren't drummers like I was a drummer." I believed him.
Still pretty damn cool, imo.
If it is, I still haven't learned that yet.
Or is it overHYMENated??
;)
If it is, I still haven't learned that yet.
the manufacturer decided they could use the same ATM for drive up and walk-in, , they determined there was no value in manufacturing a different ATM version that removed braille simply so people who drive didn't need to see the braille.

is it common knowledge THE REASON WHY there's Braille on the keyboard in a bank drive-through teller?

And it stimulates funny conversation.

I was quoting Coffee Talk with Linda Richman :P But that was an interesting anecdote, PJ

As for common knowledge: the ridges on coins are not for blind people, but rather to prevent coin shaving.
Still pretty damn cool, imo.
I knew this story but only because my wife's family has a few proud "Bardys" in it. Every Thanksgiving I hear stories about Chevy Chase, Becker and Fagen, and Blythe Danner. My wife also worked with people who went there with Vinny Chase (Adrian Grenier) and Gabby Hoffman. It's a small, eccentric world of creative types in upstate New York.
Holy Shit. This is not believable to me...haha

Alaska is the most Eastern, Northern, and Western state.
I guess everyone knew those already.
it's also for holding a spoon so you don't need a plate or spoon holder.

Now, if I can only find out what to do about:
Texting While Driving Week!
They definitely talk.
There is unrest in the Forest
There is trouble with the trees
For the Maples want more sunlight
And the Oaks ignore their pleas.
