Since 2010, there have been 59 players who have had over 300 touches in a season. Only 3 times did they go through the whole season with zero fumbles
- Ray Rice in 2010
- Le'Veon Bell in 2014
- Saquon Barkley in 2018
Saquon was #2 in the NFL as a rookie with 352 touches. #1 was Zeke Elliott who had 381 touches...and 6 fumbles. So yes, I'm looking for Zeke to put the ball on the turf in LA this weekend and hope this jinxes him.
When you consider that ball security is usually something that determines when a running back sees the field and fumbles get you in the doghouse, and usually players get better as they get used to the speed and power in the NFL, that is a remarkable stat for a rookie like Saquon, especially when he had guys in his face almost immediately thanks to how bad the Giants line was most of the year.
So 2018 was his second full year of playing without a fumble. For a guy who doesn't go down easy, at all, and moves as much as he does laterally, and catches the ball as much as he does too, that's terrific.
TC, SB, OBJ & Co. (SS/EE) and even a reduced Manning would have been nice to see ....
And yet, Saquon has been zeroed in on and gets high, low and everywhere in between and hasn't coughed up the ball once.

I didn't want to jinx him so I didn't even point it out loud to myself at home watching
Well, one did take a review to be sure.

Wow ... that is an impressive stat. Tom Coughlin would be proud. No special instruction for SB ... like Tiki needed.
Gettleman said his grandmother could've scouted Saquon.
