I'm coining this phrase after a 2-decade marriage to a woman who thinks The Three Stooges provide the best comedy this here world has to offer. Along those lines, she cracks up over any prat-fall or "nutty" physical comedy.
I've never found them funny. Ever. I was an Abbott & Costello man (as a kid), so I admit it's a little confusing. Physical comedy amuses me. But the Stooges? Nope.
Binging on Norm McDonald's talk show ("Norm McDonald Has a Show" on Netflix) last night, we were watching the episode with Michael Keaton - great episode. Keaton is just the ultimate comic, for me, and I can't stop laughing at McDonald, who my wife finds utterly unfunny. Just stares a the TV ... stares at me ... shakes her head, sometimes leaves the room. (Keaton and McDonald mentioned in the episode that neither of them at Stooges guys, fwiw.)
Now, my wife did not grow up in the states, and at first I thought that might contribute, but over time have realized it's not a factor. People LOVE the Stooges, or people don't get the Stooges at all.
The Mendoza Line places bad below it and slightly better above. My new Stooges Line is positioned more sideways. I realize Larry, Mo and Curly are a part of the comedic fabric of the nation and are important in comedy history. They just never made me laugh.
Some might think it a good/bad thing, depending where you fall in this important subject. I just think it's interesting. Funny people on both sides.
Where are you? With The Stooges? Or ... just not at all?
I spent my childhood belly-laughing at Three Stooges episodes on TV.
I can barely go into a doctor's office without half expecting to hear "Paging Dr. Howard, Dr. Fine, Dr. Howard" over the loudspeaker.
And given my current profession, I've run into some adversaries who could definitely be working for Dewey, Cheatem and Howe.
Timeless stuff.
Not sure what your excuse is...
That seems to be the case.

It's like reading the old syndicated column Larry King used to have in USA Today that was just a bunch of random, unconnected opinions or observations.
A little bit longer.
Hey, I'll text you ... I'll run things by you going forward. You, and your rich guidance.
Rave on Greg, rave on thy Holy fool,
Down through the weeks of ages.
Most women, more so than not, absolutely dont get the humor of the stooges and do exactly what your wife does to Norm.
Lol
Timeless humor!

Thanks g. Well always have chicken parm.
Then we're watching something that she was cracking up with (and I mean cracking up) and all's I could do was drink another beer - nothing, nada. She was bummed that I did not think it was funny since she wanted to enjoy it together with me.
I remember that I never liked Rogney Dangerfield's one liners act, never, not one show. Then Caddyshack, and now I laugh at anything he says. Weird. Him and Get Samrt - I laugh at every line.
