So even though we have not seen many hockey threads for lots of reasons I believe these games have to have one. There is nothing better than this rivalry. Yes my Islanders stunk for many years and showed promise a few of them until to head below mediocrity. The Rangers have frustrated their fans for getting close, and not close enough at other times with teams that they should have competed for Lord Stanley. But let’s be real these games still no matter what the record always have just a little more juice. So I am 1-0 starting a thread that needs to be here. They regular dumb comments will come from the same expected people. That should not be a reason for us to enjoy the last game these 2 teams will play against each other this year. It was great seeing some of the guys who made these threads classics back here on Thursday. Maybe they will show up again for some good banter and a good hockey game.So here we go
Islanders 24-14-4 52pts
Rangers 17-19-7 40pts
Islanders currently hold 1st wild card spot and a point out of 3rd in the Eastern Division. Rangers dominated the 3rd period of the game on Thursday. After a road trip sometimes it takes a bit to get your legs it looks like the Rangers found their’s in that 3rd period. The islanders scored on their only shot of the period with a little over a minute to go in the game. The Islanders even though they have won 7’of their last 8 and 3 of their last 4 have not been as good their last 4 games. Solid goaltending has helped them persevere. They will have to play a much better game than they did Thursday if the Rangers come out with the desire and passion they showed
In that 3rd period. Let’s Go Isles! Win one for PGA!p
ISLES-RANGERS NOTES:
- The Islanders have won nine of the past 10 meetings against the Rangers and 13 of the past 15.
- The Islanders are 7-0 vs the Rangers at Barclays Center, outscoring their rivals 25-12 (including a shootout winner). The 7-0 run marks the Islanders longest home winning streak vs the Rangers since an eight-game heater in 1991 and 1992.
- Mathew Barzal has 14 points (4G, 10A) in seven-career games against the Rangers. Barzal had three points (1G, 2A) in Thursday's win.
- Henrik Lundqvist is 1-9-2 in his last 12 games against the Islanders.
ISLANDERS NOTES:
- Robin Lehner has won a career-high, eight straight games. Lehner has allowed only 16 goals in his last 11 games (8-1-2, 1.50 GAA, .947 save percentage).
- Lehner is the fourth goalie in Isles history to win eight straight decisions and the first since Jaroslav Halak won 11 straight in 2014-15.
- Anders Lee has six points (2G, 4A) in his last four games. Lee recorded his 100th career assist on Thursday and his 140th career goal passed Kyle Okposo (139) on the Isles all-time list.
- Jordan Eberle has two goals in three games since returning from an upper-body injury. Eberle's next goal will be the 200th of his career.
- The Islanders power play went 2-for-3 against the Rangers on Thursday night.
- The Islanders (52 points) are in the first wild card berth in the Eastern Conference and are one point behind the Columbus Blue Jackets (53 points) for third in the Metropolitan Division.
- Saturday's game kicks off a busy stretch for the Isles, who play five games in seven days.
RANGERS NOTES:
- The Rangers are on a five-game losing streak.
- The Rangers (41 points) are 11 points back of the Buffalo Sabres (52 points) for the second wild card berth in the Eastern Conference.
- Kevin Hayes - the Rangers second-leading scorer - missed his fourth straight game on Thursday night.
- Henrik Lundqvist has lost three straight games and is 1-9-2 in his last 12 games against the Islanders.
- Mike Zibanejad leads the Rangers with 35 points (12G, 23A). Chris Kreider leads the team with 20 goals .
Regular season series: 145–143–19 (NYR)
Current win streak: NYR W1
Longest win streak: NYI W8
Postseason results: 20–19 (NYI)
Amazing on how close the results are.

For a group of guys that claim the Islanders are just another team or not rivals you guys spend a lot of time bashing the team or personally attacking the fans. The Rags suck and you guys can claim you want to lose all you want it must really burn to give up one measly shot in the 3rd and have it go in for the loss.
I know you guys would feel better if the Rangers fans were steaming over it, but I think the general feeling around the fan base right now is more or less indifference.
I was over it in 10 seconds. The Rangers aren't going anywhere this year and can only benefit from better lotto odds.
Bingo. Indifference an apathy defines the Rangers fanbase right now. We knew this was going to be a throwaway year from the get-go.
Early in the year Rags were surprisingly doing well and you thought the young players can get them competitive. You guys were stroking some of those mediocre players. Can’t think of names now but if I must I can grab those for you. So now the dumbest comment ever, “I don’t see the Rangers vs islanders as a rivalry” lmfao. Adding to that “ we know it was going to be a lost year so it doesn’t bother me bull shit”
Difference between us islanders fans and you spoiled over nothing rangers fans is simple. We showed up every game knowing we suck but always hoped for the 2 points. You guys have excuse to absorb the losses. Lose for Hughes, better draft etc etc.....

Haha, is this a joke? How many times have we Rangers fans had to sit through you guys WANTING, yes WANTING, to lose so you guys could fire Gordon and Capuano. We've seen variations of "we have the talent, but the coaching is terrible! The only way things are going to change is if we lose."

You're not on the team. You didn't "show up" anywhere but wherever your new little bat cave is.
It's funny how desperate some of you guys are for the Rangers fans to acknowledge you. You treat playing the Rangers completely differently than any other team - it's a sad complex.
Just enjoy the season you're having and stop worrying about the Rangers or what we think so much.
We knew NYR needed to strip it down and rebuild - nothing about this year surprises any of us and we know the team isn't actively trying to win games right now, so why are we going to get bent out of shape if they don't?

Thank you, Arc. Enjoy your season, guys. Sorry if I don't hold you in the same esteem as the Flyers, Penguins and Capitals. Hell, take it as a compliment. Those teams and their fans are scummy thru and thru.
Pretty much. Our window was closed so we decided to tear it all down and rebuild. The end result was throwaway years like this one.
I’m jealous not of the Islanders but of metut’s afternoon of fun.
Enjoy the game fellas.
There were one or two people who did this. The vast majority of us have been saying since the off-season how bad this team is, you drooling fucking moron. Go ahead, show me the quite from a thread earlier in the year where I said anything other than "This team sucks"
Still a makeupless clown
The Rangers rivalry with the Flyers, Capitals and Penguins are better, IMO
Not during the times both teams are good
Arc is in my top-5 of favorite posters along with BB56, JonC, Fat Man and SaqBar

Haha, I didn't mean top-5 Rangers fans! I meant top-5 BBIers
You're known for sucking random peepees. And I'M trash? hahaha. Ok, fish.

I do not ever remember a year when the Islanders sucked that we told the Rags fans we were hoping to lose so we can get a better draft position. I remember hearing a few rag fans busting on us because of how bad our team was, now the shoe was on the other foot and they’re looking for excuses. This is a rivalry one of the better ones in hockey, Read fans hate it just like the Yankees hate playing the Mets. Yankee fans always believe that there franchises better and so do Ranger fans. Sometimes though it’s not true and as of now Islander Fan’s have the upper hand and Ranger fans hate it. Can you imagine if we use the same excuses over the years that they are using now what would’ve been said on those threads. Today the Islanders are playing in inferior team they need to beat the bad teams and get the two points. That is the bottom line. Go Isles!

Well I guess we were right look what happens when you hire a quality coach. What is your excuse, you bought players and coaches traded away prospects for studs. We always knew that it was the coach not the talent on the ice.

Let's go Rangers.
That’s right. If there’s one thing we’ve learned over the years it’s that 2 players, both of whom can be considered enigmas, should be able to carry an entire roster.
You need not look any further than the letter the front office sent to the fan base last February.
The Barclay’s curse ends!
Was that the same team that’s supposed to compete for Lord Stanley’s Cup?
But since this particular win bruised 12th Man's ego badly and caused pain to other BBI Islanders fans.. i can enjoy this one a bit.
Lowly Rangers go 2-2 against NYI this year. Suck it, Fish.
Enjoy the loss, buddy. Happy Saturday. :)

I know a bunch of Islander fans and we enjoy breaking each others chops over these games. I don't personally know any Flyer, Caps, or Pens fans at all.
For me, it's the opposite. I don't know any Islanders fans personally (except for BBIers), but I know a few Flyers, Caps and Pens fans. The Flyers fans are fucks, the Capitals fans are douches, and the Pens fans are bandwagoners.
Don't forget the Knicks!
Well, we could be like the Islanders and be dead last in attendance in a year when we aren't even bad....
Such a passionate group! Less than 12k a night for home games.

What in the fuck are you talking about? Do you have a concussion?
Relatively few fans? Ummm. Glass houses? Rangers have what? 5? 6x as many fans as the Islanders and Devils do?
Well, you are similar to the Penguins....I mean both the Islanders and the Penguins were perennial candidates for relocation until they were bad enough one year to draft a generational talent first overall, which turned the franchise around....well, more so for the Penguins.
Hey B In ALB, you sure he is not your long lost brother?

Not sure. But please go ahead and insult hard working people again, you piece of shit. You're a scumbag and your post about a guy working at Walmart trying to make a living won't be forgotten, trashbag. You're pathetic.
