What is it with ppl who don't use the lockers? Some pile all their shit (jacket, pants, purse, sunglasses, phone, etc) against a wall or worse on a piece of equipment and leave it there during their entire workout.
The second type is considerate enough to bring a gym bag but then carries it to each piece of equipment they use, often leaving it in the middle of an area where ppl walk. And these aren't small bags either, they're big enough to fit a dead body.
I understand that on occasion ppl forget a lock (even though my gym is the type where hardly anyone feels the need to lock up their stuff). But there are a lot of ppl who do this all the time.
Thx for letting an old man rant . . .
I do get a kick out of the guys who put their bags on top of the lockers. I don't get that one at all. Your stuff is there for anyone to go through or take and while you're not cluttering the gym floor itself, what's the point of not just putting it in a locker?
How long does it actually take to open and close a gym locker?
Oh man there's so many we could list and that's definitely another one. Happens all the time in spite of all the "rack your weights" signs posted around the gym.
I'm sure some new comers just don't know any better but I know a lot of people just don't give a shit about anyone else.
Then why leave them unattended on top of a locker when you're in the gym? I see this every time I go and can't figure it out.
Also, I can't speak for other gyms but mine is pretty secure, and clean. There are always employees on the gym floor and in the locker room cleaning, filling soap, towels etc and I think we only had one locker broken into and that was years ago.
Definitely a big reason why I use that one instead of any of the ones a little cheaper in town.
Also, people taking dumps in the bathroom. The locker rooms, showers, urinals , and toilet stalls are all in about the same area. Sometimes it gets unbearable. Can't you wait till you get home?

Spot on about not wiping down equipment. That should be a bannable offense.
As for dropping a deuce, however - that’s to be expected. Sometimes a good workout has a stimulative effect. Not uncommon that I don’t want to try and hold it until I get home.
Courtesy flushes, however, should be standard practice

after using it. The gym I go to has disinfectant sprayers and wipes all over the place but 50% of the people don't bother using them. It's so common that now I've developed a habit of wiping equipment down before and after using it.

Totally agree about not wiping down equipment. It should be a bannable offense or at least a suspendable one. Continue doing it and you're gone.
I'm with Ace too as I always wipe my equipment before and after.
As for taking dumps, I don't make a practice of if at the gym but when you gotta go, you gotta go. Like anywhere though, courtesy flushes are a must.
Or maybe they are checking me out, and I am catching them?
Can't stand people at a machine resting for 5 minutes in between sets on their phone and also putting weights back in the proper place. 50 pound dumbbells where the 40s are supposed to go

My gym has two SM's and one was down for repairs and there was a guy on Thursday doing dumbbell presses on a flat bench in the Smith Machine. Meanwhile people are waiting to actually use the Smith Machine.
He wasn't using the machine at all and the gym has a nice sized area with benches of all types with plenty of room to do whatever dumbbell lift he wanted.
Not as common as curls in the squat rack but it happens too often.
About the locker issue.....I always use a locker AND use a lock. But it seems that every other workout, I go in and look for an empty locker and in the process of doing that ill open maybe 3-4 lockers that are actually occupied but with no lock. Ive see keys, wallets, phones, you name it, just sitting there. And then these people will probably complain about the gym when their stuff gets ripped off!
people coughing without any awareness to cover their mouth
how many guys don't wash their hands after taking a piss
big thumbs?
Maybe a sweatshirt, but thats about all ive ever brought to the gym that I wasnt going to actively use
Did you hear it?

ripped a huge fart just as we were transitioning into the corpse pose at the end. It was a stinker too and in the 90 degree room it lingered.
Did you hear it?
oh yup
The weirdos who are in a machine but aren't using them or doing anything. Just sitting there creepily looking around giving everyone the stink eye or not so subtly gawking at the nearest girl's ass
When I used to work out at the YMCA, the old men in the locker room doing old men things...walking around nude, drying their nuts with the hand dryer in the bathroom, leaving shaving cream and hair all over the sink from shaving. Fucking gross.

Also have seen poop on the floor of the showers more than once
Agreed to all. I would just like to add the people who put their bags, keys, phones, or other personal items on a bench that they are not using. That drives me crazy. How can you be so unaware or inconsiderate? Another is the jacked douche bags that leave the weights on the olympic bar because they are either too cool to have to take it off themselves or they want others to see how much weight they lifted.

I honestly don’t give a fuck what you wear, where you put your shit, or what you do for exercise. The not returning weights, not wiping down upon a sweaty display of exercising, and generally not following basic decency and awareness of others with the equipment is where I get annoyed. But not so much that it ruins my day

Douchebags who are grunting and audibly straining so loud the whole place can hear it. If what you're lifting is THAT heavy you're going to tear a muscle or seriously injured yourself thus ending your workouts for a long time while you painfully rehab, Mr Universe
Yeah, but was she hot?
If it bugs you, just mention something to the front desk/manager. I’m sure some of this stuff is a liability issue.
If there is a serious power lifting culture at the gym, you just have to deal with it. What they are doing is extremely hard and they HAVE to do those things to make it through.
It’s typically easy enough to share equipment and I’d do it for anyone who asks. Just sucks when there is a one way street.
Occasionally all the cubbies would be full; then one just left their stuff on a shelf above one wide low rack of cubbies. No one ever stole anything, so far as I knew. But that's Israel for you as opposed to NYC I guess.
I'm not going to go in the locker room every time I need a change of equipment or shoes.
people always compliment my forearms, must be all the re-rackings--it's like an alibi.
Basil Exposition: What's the other?
Austin Powers: Excuse me?
Basil Exposition: What's the other thing that scares you?
Austin Powers: Carnies. Circus folk. Nomads, you know. Smell like cabbage. Small hands.
Wait, this has to be sarcasm right? I mean what straight man would complain about that?
Tbh, this is one f my biggest fears in the yoga room. It’s not for nothing they have something called the “wind releasing pose”.
All that lower abdomen twisting, I’m surprised this isn’t a frequent occurrence.
Hot yoga is awesome though.
My only real pet peeve is my own fault because I'm such a creature of habit. I have a specific treadmill that I use, mainly because of it's positioning to the large TV and clock (I'll jump back and forth between the news and SportsCenter, so I can catch the weather report at a specific time). Because I get to the gym so early, 90% of the time I get that treadmill. The 10% I don't get it bother me, but 10 minutes into my run I'll forget about it.
