should be tempered by this. I don't care how talented he may be, how do you make that big an investment in a player that may never play for you. Teams will need some sort of commitment from him and even than, he could change his mind down the road.
Flutie had problems with batted balls, he would too...
Starting contract for a NFL draft pick, higher than a #1 baseball pick....
It is a different league than it once was. Smaller QBs can succeed now. Sure, he might be very small, but with more spread concepts, I think he’ll be ok.
as much as it once did but still if I am spending a top pick on a QB there are things I don't want to worry about. Size is one of them. Arm strength is another. To an extent you're playing the percentages here. Yes, you can find shorter QB's who have done well but most of the top QB's are taller. Gotta believe there's a good reason for that.
He's too small to last very long in today's NFL, and there's the huge CTE risk. Baseball players make a LOT of money and there's very little physical punishment. He can have a normal life after the sport with his riches.
Not to mention the NFL is headed for a massive labor war in a couple of years.

He may never play any meaningful games in MLB. What did he have, 250
college ABs? I could be wrong, but MLB has the lowest success rate for 1st rounders by far.
is a legit QB. I'd seriously consider him at 6. If a team feels like his height won't be an issue, and you go by talent alone ,he probably is the best QB in this draft class. If the Giants came away with Haskins or Murray this draft I'd be pretty happy with it.

Easy for us to say but NFL contracts are in his favor. He’s also “better” at football and could easily not make it as an MLB pro, making all the money he could make, irrelevant. CTE at the QB position isn’t as concerning as other positions.
Were any of those two sport guys like Deion and Bo Â
also quarterbacks? In baseball, you have to throw. As a QB, you have to throw. You don't have to throw as a RB or CB. All I'm saying is, that's a LOT of mileage on one arm.
I would have no issue with the Giants taking Murray Â
BUT I know the FO would never take a QB that short. That is too far outside the box for the Giants and they are too set in their ways to consider such a drastic change.
I am really hoping that the Cards really do want Murray though. The next few months will certainly be interesting.
According to Mike Leslie of WFAA, Murray wants a $15 million contract from the A’s. Otherwise, Murray will enter the NFL draft.
That’s a risky position for Murray. If the A’s say yes, he gets the money. If the A’s say no, does that really close the door on the A’s changing their mind later? That’s the dilemma any NFL team that drafts Murray would face.
If $15 million is Murray’s financial goal, that would peg his NFL floor in the range of pick No. 11 or 12, based on the 2018 contracts given to first-round picks. If a team takes Murray below that spot, will the A’s step up and match or beat the slotted contract value that Murray would get from his NFL team? Link - ( New Window )

Then Kyler is probably going to the NFL draft because the A's aren't exactly one of MLB's free spending franchises
He's not a sure thing, and there's going to be a part of him that wonders what he could have been on Sunday, especially while he's riding charter buses around the Midwest League and hitting his weight. It's an open secret that football is his first love.

That's the problem with the Giants organization...
And if that is the case, then it's official - the NFL has completely changed with what they are looking for...
Bo, Eleay, Sanders and Drew Henson come to mind.
Look at this throw - ( New Window )
You should care. 5'9" QB's don't have much of a history in this league.

You can show me a highlight of Eli Manning throwing 55 yards in the air while on the run full speed and hitting a guy in stride in double coverage?
Wow. I would love to see that.

and pretty unprecedented considering he’s likely a first round pick.

None were first round picks in both.
