NGT- Eagles Brandon Brooks torn achillies

Matt in SGS : 1/13/2019 10:38 pm
The Eagles Pro Bowl guard went down with a torn achillies. You knew it was bad when the cart came out. You don’t wish injuries on anyone, but the reality is for the Eagles a lower leg injury on a soon to be 30 year old lineman who weighs around 340 pounds is not easy to recover from. Peters looked beat up too and came out. At some point this catches up to teams and they come back to Earth. The Eagles do their thing on offense because of their offensive line. This is going to be something to watch in 2019.
Sounds like Kelce might not be back either

Very possible he hangs them up. He's been hinting at it for a couple of years now and again tonight.

A ton of the Eagles nucleus is old

Near or north of the 30 is Kelce, Peters, Graham, Long, Bennett, Jenkins, Brooks. Even their guys under 30 have a lot of football miles on the odometer, Cox and Alshon Jeffery (2012), Lane Johnson and Ertz (2013). Not saying they are in crisis mode but besides Wentz, they really have not restocked their talent pool much since the 2013 draft class.
That OL could...

fall off a cliff next year.
agreed...

..they could have has many as three starters to replace.

Brooks (injury), Peters (retire/age?), and Kelcey (retirement?).

As I have written before, this draft is very important to them, esp with Wentz's rookie deal about to expire.............
NFL, not for long...

So hard just to get to play pro ball. And then it’s over like that. Tough way to make a living.

If I was a fan, I'd also be worried about Lane Johnson pissing dirty.
Some how they will replace him

and continue to be good up front. Just like the Pats. Its amazing how easy it is for other teams to have depth or find someone to replace another, while for the Giants it takes 10 years to do...? smh.

A lot of their players who play were drafted by Andy Reid or Chip Kelly or signed as free agengts. Last year their draft played the least amount of snaps of any team according to an Eagles fan I know. We know what happens when draft picks Don't replace starters. The trends have been goid for their draft recently.
He has all off season

To recover.
I thought..

it might have been a broken leg the way the FOX announcers were saying it was a lower leg injury and they weren't going to show the replay, but you rarely can see an Achilles injury - it usually looks like a person just falls over.

I wonder if they did something to that turf. There were at least 3 lower leg injuries and two torn Achilles in the same game.

The initially did show the replay.... I thought it was his knee or calf the way he immediately went lame on it and started hopping.

That said, I don't understand why Fox did not reshow it, I rewound the dvr after they said that and watched for it again, and saw nothing gruesome. Nothing bent the wrong way or anything... He was just being backed up and then he started hopping. They must have had another angle.

They have Howie Roseman. So that is a big plus.
