Good dude but his production is easily replaceable. He won’t be re-signed here when his contract is up.
Easily replaceable..Says who? You ? the guy has caught 200 balls in a supporting role the past 3 seasons let’s see how easily replaceable that is
Tim Carter and Ramsas Barden say hello
Sterling Shepard, while not the player Michael Thomas is Â

There's no doubt that Thomas > Sheppard
But is Sheppard a JAG?
65-683-8
59-731-2

Obviously he's got OBJ who will get his. He's primarily a slot guy. I don't know if he's a JAG or not? I think SS is a free agent next year. What is his ceiling realistically?
Sterling reminds me of one my childhood favorites Ike Hilliard Â
He is not a lead guy but he is very useful in a supporting role. I would hope the Giants will look to retain especially if they can draft a QB with a low cap number

Ike was first round pick, iirc. A first round pick hopefully should be a starter, not just useful.

Ike got hurt early in his career and battled quite a few of them. Wasn't the player we envisioned, but he still carved out a really nice career and made a lot of big plays for us. Hilliard's wiggle and elusiveness was always one of my favorite aspects of his game. Getting him the ball in space on a screen and letting him do his thing.

Ike was a starter for us and we know he never lived up to being a top 10 pick but he was no bust and was a good football player. I still remember his TD catch in the NFC championship game
“I wanna be like Ike”
We have no way of knowing that if the players switched teams that it wouldn't be more even value. Our coaches have done a really bad job with Shepard, IMO, so a case can be made that Thomas wouldn't look as good as he does.
Thomas is absolutely the better player, I just think the 2 teams are so far apart in offensive ability that its hard to critique.
as a WR, is reasonably productive, can make some big plays, blocks, hustles, good locker room guy.
He's not outsize value for a 2nd round pick (like Thomas), but if you were to re-draft 2016, I wouldn't be surprised if Shepard went right around #40 again. Obviously Thomas goes much, much higher.
With that said, he might opt to test the waters after next season because I doubt the Giants will be in a position to commit significantly more dollars to the WR position with Odell's contract on the books. We'll probably make him a fair offer, but he could well be the top WR in the FA market next season, especially because Thomas will likely sign a long-term deal with NO.
Good dude but his production is easily replaceable. He won’t be re-signed here when his contract is up.
Yeah ok. Easily replaceable? This team has a hell of a lot more personnel issues to address than Sterling Shepard.
You didn’t know Shep is JAG easily replaceable they say I wonder if these people remember names like Ramses Barden, Travis Beckham and Tim Carter all bust WR drafted by this franchise
Ike was definitely a part of the return to offensive respectability after the 90s malaise.
I didn't remember that he was injured so early in his career.
He was just so quickly eclipsed by Toomer and Tiki.
Will always remember the first strike in 41-0.
their draft regrets in every draft, every year. Even the Colts, who absolutely destroyed the 2018 draft, might be thinking, you know, instead of taking Kemeko Turay with the 20th pick in the 2nd round, perhaps we should've taken James Washington, or Carlton Davis, or maybe our own B.J. Hill.
However, an interesting thing to think about, not that it's realistic but the Giants could've taken Michael Thomas instead of Shepard with that pick and still gotten a guy who can light it up in the slot in the 5th round that year, instead of their pick of Paul Perkins...that being one Tyreek Hill.
Ironically, Hill has been more of an impact player running the ball in the NFL than Perkins has.
The Redskins are incompetent and lost their starting quarterback to a horrific injury.
And they still we're two games ahead of us in the standings.
Based on your posts, I get the impression you haven't smiled in like 10 years.
It's not that bad, bud. It's just football. We suck. We'll get better. We can't do anything about it as fans and no amount of anger or frustration is going to get us any closer.
Last week I watched Saquon highlight reel from the year (ridiculous that the thing is like over 10 minutes long) and noticed pretty quickly that SS kept popping up over and over again making key blocks.
Someone is probably going to pay him more than Giants will, but he is hardly a miss.

When did you become Archie Bunker?
When the Giants completely went in the tank and stayed there.
I've been posting here since like 2008 but forgot my original handle and been lurking for years prior and there are a few people who's posts I take a lot of pride in reading (and you are one of them) but...
Are you seriously letting the Giants being a bad football team affect your day to day life?

Agreed, and CRB saying that Shep doesn't have that elite route running ability and high football IQ that Steve Smith had...um...that's pretty much exactly what Shep is.

This is a place to talk about the Giants, and the Giants stink. That's all there is to it.

There is only one person here who I truly believe acts like he types and that's Greg.
he's an awesome run blocking WR. I think he gives it his all when it comes to running routes and diving for balls and whatnot...but...there's something quirky about his game. He doesn't have a natural fluidity to his game that I think prevents him from being an elite slot receiver. I love him, he's an easy guy to root for...but how much is he worth?
If you had to pick just one to pay...who would you pay - SS or Landon Collins?
And I do not believe anyone else will either. However, his blocking for a WR is well above average. He'll come back at about double his rookie contract.
😜😜😜
Pretty good? Ehh.... thats a stretch.

Loved Ike.. even if he was never a star.
Give me a break with this nonsense.
He's a good player and does a great job blocking for Barkley.

I thought he was the second best receiver in the 2016 draft.
However, before I pump my chest out too much, I had Corey Coleman as the top receiver. Well, the Browns did as well.
Just wait until Beckham gets included in the discussion...

First down maker, very reliably.
Absolute kind know in the nuts we didn't take a prototypical X receiver like Thomas because of Mcadoo's hair brained wco.

Not much of a deficit considering they started out 6-3 and we were 1-7

I like Shepard, but come on, Thomas is a top-5 WR at this point. It's not even close.

Is he better then Micheal Thomas no but he’s a pretty good WR in his own right.. Getting a Sterling Sheppard in Round 2 is nothing to frown at
