That said, I had wondered up to that point how it felt for the Buffalo Bills to destroy the Raiders 51-3 in the AFC Championship Game and then lose to the Giants in the Super Bowl and how did their fans view that game later. We found out for ourselves after the Super Bowl.
My seats were right behind the Viking bench in the old stadium- section 131, row 6. The Vikings were being heckled constantly. Cold day, incredible win as the Vikings were coming off of a tremendous season and were favorites if I remember correctly.
If that BS holding penalty on Hamilton isn't called, Armstead's pick 6 makes it 7-7. Totally different game. Ah, well. Baltimore was the better team. That defense...JFC. They were insane.
I wasn't celebrating. That collapse to those same Vikes in '97 was still too fresh.
Ha ha - that was me too. My friend was like relax dude they can't possibly blow this. Then they scored early 3rd to make it 41-0 and I relaxed.
In 2002 when Shockey dropped that ball in the end zone - had a sinking feeling but remembered this and told myself to relax, they can't possibly blow this...lol
and the camera turned around and got the two of us on camera for a solid few seconds. Enough where my work voice mail box was completely filled by people all over who just wanted to tell me that they saw me at the game.

Was definitely an awful call. It changed the final score, but I am not sure it was changing the outcome. The Giants were not scoring on offense that day, the Ravens defense was just too good and the Giants had a very middling offense. In fact I believe they were only scoring somewhere in the neighborhood of 20 pts/gm.
Native New Yorker, but was doing my medical residency at the Mayo Clinic at the time.
Viking fans are nowhere near as obnoxious are our NFC east rivals, but it was still sweet when we came out of nowhere and demolished a high powered Vikings team. Randy Moss was a freak during those years and I was totally ready for a Giants defeat.
had amazing seats thanks to a corporate buddy, 10 rows up at the 15 yd line. Ike caught the first TD right in front of me. That game was just a non stop celebration of white towel waving. Still have my Hot CHocolate mug from that game.

Terrible fantom call.. still sick about it
Was that the last time we were the #1 Seed going into the
That whole season was fun, maybe in part because it came so fast from seemingly out of nowhere, but it was fun.
Minnesota certainly seemed like a formidable opponent with that firepower on O. Still have no idea how we posted a shutout with Carter, Smith, Culpepper and a prime Randy Moss.
I was sitting to the right of the Vikings section in the upper deck.
I felt bad for them by halftime, I truly did. That game is the only time I felt as though the was over at halftime, in my over 50 years of watching the Giants. We were flawless. Collins was spectacular. Was on such a high after the game. Went to my buddies house to watch the AFC Championship. I was so confident about or SB chances. I always remember him looking at me and saying, not so fast. That Raven D is sick. We found out 2 weeks later....

We were #1 in 2008. Beat Carolina in a winner-take-all OT thriller flexed into Sunday night with snow in the seats.
Derrick Ward had signature game, including the long game-winning run IIRC. He parlayed that game into a contract with TB the next year. highlights Giants Panthers 2008 - ( New Window )

It only would've resulted in the final score being 35-14
We weren't winning that game.
Period.
Also Kerry was playing hurt and Fassel didn't yank him for Jason Garrett for whatever reason. Probably wouldn't have mattered
Lower level corner seats (same side Toomer scored on). Guess what the face price was for a seat in that section for the NFL Championship?
$45.
Can't get parking for that price now. Time does fly! Oh, I'm not sure the old Stadium was ever louder than the first half of that game (no one sat down, we were waving towels like madmen, and screaming the whole half. Didn't get my voice back for 2 days!!!).
Of course, during halftime, the old spiral ramps were smoking like chimneys...and a lot of that wasn't cigarettes...

They could have played 100 quarters and the Giants offense wouldn't have scored that day.
14 possessions gained 22 yards or less,9 of which gained 5 or less. The closest they got to scoring was Baltimore's 29 right before the half when Collins threw into double coverage and was picked off.
Would have been nice to be tied with a defensive score, and maybe it wouldn't have ended 34-7, but Collins was ALMOST intercepted so many times in addition to the 4 picks he did throw, the Ravens defense was always destined to score at least once.
Hahaha. I have a cousin who is turning 13 in March and a Giants fan and I was telling him about that very game. He says he had no idea who Kerry Collins was.
Makes me feel as if I'm getting a bit long in the tooth.

Lol, true. Incredible game on both sides of the ball. Have never been able to bring myself to re-watch it because of that ensuing SB debacle
I wind up just feeling a little bitter about that game.
heartbreaking loss that day, but the team relaxed a little and we werent good enough to do that
The Minnesota Vikings wanted out of that stadium in the worst way

Went to the restroom at halftime, and high-fived people all the way to the tunnel and then in the concourse. Amazing day
