No other sports movie compares except Bloodsport. It doesn't get realer than that. Mr. Miyagi should have been hired by the Giants to fix all their knee problems.

I had the TV on in the background earlier this evening while getting dinner ready. Rocky IV was on and my 18 month old daughter was dancing and jumping to the Rocky montage. Priceless.
is more well-regarded in Europe, where it's known as "Escape to Victory." Obviously, because it's about their #1 sport. I find it funny that the only American (Sly Stallone) plays in goal.
Another interesting tidbit about the film, it is based on a "true" story about the "Death Match" between a Ukrainian team and German team in Nazi-occupied Kiev during WWII. According to legend, Gestapo officers told the Ukrainian team to throw the match but they wouldn't and all of the players were shot afterward. Apparently, much of this was made-up post-war by the Soviet Union for propaganda reasons. Multiple matches were played between German and Ukrainian teams but they were fairly cordial and a few of the Ukrainian players were killed much later for war-related reasons, not any game outcome.
'I love you guys.'
Fun fact: the team that Milan beat in the state championship had The Big O on their team.

I believe they beat Oscar Robinson's team in the semi's and not the finals. They beat Muncie for the state championship. Pretty wild either way.

That opening scene with Hackman driving through the Indiana countryside, the music...

LOL, auto corrected Robertson into Robinson; good grief.
Agreed. I'm not ashamed to admit I cried watching that movie. 'Rudy', 'Field of Dreams', & 'Hoosiers' all had me in tears.

Yup. Add the Natural to that list for me.
Reset your pea brains. A transgender prepubescent soccer wizard? That shit made thousands in the box office.
Seabiscuit is up there too.
Georgevich was such an undersized CB, he had no chance in college. And he hit like a bitch.
Rifleman was the best player on that team and he probably didn't even get a look. Bullshit 1980s Pennsylvania football.
Ampipe got screwed in the Walnut Heights game when that Salvucci fumbled after that great goal line stop.

You're totally right. Forgot 13th Grade offered him.
And how about that dumbass Chris Penn giving up his full ride to Pedo State? Maybe he knew something?

Do not put the Natural on around me - the channel will not change.
There are some great, great lines in the movie.
