Although maybe Brady checks out in the cold the way Favre did in 07-08 title game and maybe Mahomes isn’t bothered by the cold and puts up an Eli-esque performance but I wouldn’t count on it, that was rare and one for the ages.
their QB and kicker both have a ton of experience in this weather.
I agree plus I think it helps the Pats D who haven't been as good on the road by slowing the Chiefs O down a bit. I just don't think their O will be able to operate as efficiently as normal and that helps the Pats.
Whoo-hoo!
More than 32 below freezing.
That field will be like concrete.
Falling down could bring on an injury.
How many players will be displaying bare arms?
In my next life I'll take up an indoor sport.
RE: I agree - that's going to be awesome to watch... Â

Not really, here’s a good write up https://sports.yahoo.com/forecast-arctic-blast-hit-kansas-city-afc-championship-game-230241402.html - ( New Window )
That article is basically saying Brady doesn’t have experience in arctic blasts, aka, a puff piece. I was talking about adverse weather conditions of which Brady has infinitely kore experience in - cold, snow, wind, etc.
Categorize it however you want, but if the weather is going to be bad, experience can only help.
and more to do with the game plan/execution. I actually think K.C. has the better team but adding in an X factor like weather can be another thing BB/Brady take advantage of.
I'm leaning KC at home too. I think KC can run with the Pats and won't be stupid enough to throw it too much. I just FEAR if New England can run and control the clock, wear them down, and win late like early in the year. Not a shootout this time but another close game.
Smoke 'em only happens if New England forgets how to stop the run. I don't see Brady throwing pics
benefits the team with better talent and better speed. I think it helps KC. I don't think it will have any effect on Mahomes, Hill and Kelce. KC wins easy imo.
Agreed. The Chiefs showed me all I needed to see against the colts. They didn’t even play a B game for them and they still won the game rather easily. I think they hang 35 plus on the pats. Pats will keep it close for a while but it won’t be enough. Mahomes is that good.

Home team with an unreal passionate base that feels it...KC will feed off of it

Brady will be VERY uncomfortable if it goes below zero
You could be right. Favre looked pretty bad against the Giants in that cold weather. Eli was able to pass the ball pretty good, so hopefully KC will as well.

I was going to mention this as well. Younger guys tend to muster more energy in theae situations too. Sounds dumb but could be something there

I’ve been thinking this too. Interesting call.
I think Mahomes is going to have to adjust his fastball, too. It’s going to be very hard to catch a ball. I expect he’ll have to dial up more finesse throws.

The field will not be concrete or frozen. Most natural turf outdoor cold weather stadiums are heated now to aid in grass growth this time of year. The surface temp of the field will be in the 50 degree range. Link - ( New Window )
in 1989 for a gambling weekend and hearing it was going to be 25 below in Chicago with the wind chill. We all bet a lot of money on the Bears since they were playing the 49ers who then beat them 28-3. Good times. Two lessons learned. Be carefully betting the weather and Bill Walsh vs Mike Ditka not a good play.

An excellent counter point, and I remember that game well. Also thought Chicago had a great advantage in the cold over a finesse team.
But to even counter that, the Bears weren't a very good team with Mike Tomczyak at QB..............

I believe the KC field has heating built underneath it just for this purpose. In fact I think they showed the heating system before last weeks playoff game. So the field shouldn't be too bad, its everything else that will suck.
NE has been in these games before, most of the KC players havent Â
(I'll be at a bar in a T-shirt drinking beer & drinking for those poor souls at Arrowhead.)
Meanwhile, the Saints and Rams will be indoors in the cozy confines of a 72 degree environment. Fake football.
Although maybe Brady checks out in the cold the way Favre did in 07-08 title game and maybe Mahomes isn’t bothered by the cold and puts up an Eli-esque performance but I wouldn’t count on it, that was rare and one for the ages.
It's going to be a fun game. I'm really looking forward to it. I think KC is the slight favorites. NE has been a different team on the road this year.

I believe NE has lost their last 3 or 4 conf title games when they were on the road. They're not the same dominant team away from home.
Call me crazy, but I'm picking KC.

Not really old time football.
In times past the season was over before Christmas.

KC 28, NE 24.
+1
Finally, it is turnovers cause that stuff happens in the cold.
At least that is what I think.
KC wins 20-19. LOL
Old bones get affected by weather a lot more.....
Brady and BB is substantially greater than Reid and Mahomes.
What an amazing, amazing run.

-Eli Manning.
Honorable mention: Tom Coughlin
That's not a knock against our fanbase.
A lot of it's the stadium design (older, seats closer to field, less corp. luxury boxes).
They can use the running game or short passes to RB's all day long against the KC D.
The few times the Colts tried to run, they had yardage - but they ended up trying to go downfield repeatedly.

Exactly, the Pats have two adequate pass catching RBs and the underneath game all day long.

Another trend: lost last three in KC.

LOL. Ouch. Doesn't sound like much fun for either party.

I think that's a much bigger factor than the cold. KC home game is huge, but they are still inexperienced. Will be very interesting.
