and suffocating defense on their point guard. They couldn't get their offense set and were down 12-0. Jones exits the game and Duke never looked the same.

It's a beauty! I had to watch the dvr version tonight, but I feel just as good.
There was a big part of me that said they'd come out and play well and possibly get the win.
This is a really really really good team. They're finally deep, they have the length again up top and Battle is FINALLY taking over.
The officiating at Cameron is unbelievable Atrocious. Some of those foul calls were insane. Yet, the Cuse persevered. Great Great win. Proud of my squad tonight!
They can be deep, but Boeheim definitely settled on the same 5 for the last 15-17 minutes of the game. Not to take anything away from this game though. A huge win in a tough environment after a huge letdown against GT. I really think this could be a jumping off point.

Cuse players are used to playing bug minutes. They will wear you down and we saw Duke's players slow up. Great win, well played game on the road against a #1seed with the refs working their Bullshit.
Get in the plane, get home, rest up and start your season.
I just read that Duke had been 90-0 entering this game when ranked number 1 and playing at home against an unranked opponent...love being the ones to end that streak.
for March when there is "last four in" debate with them like seemingly every year.
Duke is loaded with talent on the entire roster (even if Coach K likes to act as if he only has four scholarship-worthy players in any given season) and so there was still plenty of talent available last night. And Cameron is the hardest road game in the sport.
But I think any team that loses their first-round star point guard facilitator (and perhaps best on-ball defender) as well as a lottery pick wing who is the team's best starting 3-point shooter is going to struggle, especially against a team like Syracuse.
Without Tre, Duke will have a harder time against teams that can force the offense into their half-court sets instead of up-and-down transition basketball. But unless Tre's AC injury is severe enough to keep him out the rest of the season, I don't think last night's loss tells that much about Duke for March. With Tre on the floor, and Reddish back, I don't think anyone expects them to repeat 9/43 from 3.
Here's hoping they lose two in a row in Cameron!
ESPN spin is that they lost because Tre Young got hurt. Â
No mention of the fact that Duke shot 9-43 from three point range, yet still shot 10 more foul shots than ‘Cuse. The officiating was criminally bad. Phantom calls, no calls, NBA travels overlooked in Duke’s favor. But ESPN spins it as a “courageous loss” for Duke. They even had the balls to note that Zion Doesn’t get calls because he’s so big and strong. Holy shit!
coaching game K!! Hoisting up 43 three pointers like they are a 14 seed looking to knock off his own team....

I think I saw today that the only team to beat Duke in Cameron when they were #1 is UNC, who has done it 3 times.
The way to beat the 2-3 is with 3 pointers and offensive rebounds. Boheim gets a ton of credit for be able to contest the threes and limit to offensive rebounds. Very hard to do, especially on the road and against a loaded team like Duke
Especially without Reddish, who is the best shooter of their regulars at 36%. Barrett - 31%, Zion - 27%, Jones - 29%. Their best shooters are their scrubs, White (39% before his nightmare game) and O'Connell (38%), neither of whom are going to carry an offense, as we saw when White went 0-10 last night.
I started turning the tide on Coach K. I had always hated UNC, but didn't mind Duke, but then they started shoving K down our throats. Talked about how he was such a great guy, then he'd launch ridiculous tirades during the games. Would confront opposing fans, even though the Cameron Crazies are about as worst as one can get. Couple that with the fact that he not only had some guys who pulled scumbag moves on the court, but he continued to support those type of plays and players.
Try and think of another program - outside of G'Town who always had a "F You attitude" - that had guys one after another who would make dirty plays only to be viewed in the press as playing with grit and intensity. Laettner stomping on a chest. Grayson Allen tripping not one, not two, but probably in total like 5 or 6 guys.
But to me it was the hypocrisy of the focus on the student-athlete. I almost wished he was as unrepentant about having 1 and dones like Calipari. Instead, he still seems to act like he's developing student-athletes. He sold out to win, and while he shouldn't get docked for that, he also shouldn't be lauded as if he's leading student-athletes through life.
In addition, there was a whole season, maybe 15 years ago, where his talent level was poor, and he bailed on his own team. He had a bad back that he said required surgery and never came back.

1994-95. What was egregious about that was that he had Duke petition the NCAA to remove the Pete Gaudet games from his coaching record.
He also used to like to tell a story about how much a 109-66 loss to UVA in the 1983 ACC tournament drove him to succeed because Terry Holland ran up the score on him by leaving Ralph Sampson in to play the entire game. From a News & Observer story in 2015:
Quote:
Mike Krzyzewski’s third season at Duke concluded in the conference tournament, as losing ACC efforts do, when Virginia handed the Blue Devils a humiliating 109-66 defeat. To this day that is the largest deciding margin in any game in ACC tournament history.
Several starters for second-ranked UVa were on the floor at the end against Duke’s freshmen-laden squad. “That’s something that you don’t forget,” says Chuck Swenson, an assistant coach who accompanied Krzyzewski from Army to Durham. “We were embarrassed enough.”
He told that story on the Dan Patrick Show several years ago, which prompted Hoos fans to set the record straight - Ralph Sampson only played 14 minutes of that game, as showed by the box score of that game. The other UVA starters played 19, 21, 25, and 29 minutes. End of the bench guys Doug Newberg, Wingo Smith, Kenny Lambiotte, and Kenny Johnson played 3-4 minutes each, so it's highly unlikely there were any starters in the game near the end.
Long story short - he's completely full of shit. Hey, remember when he smugly lectured Dillon Brooks at the end of Oregon's victory over Duke in the 2016 tournament, which he then lied about?
but it's a pretty good bet they don't lose that game if Jones doesn't get hurt. They probably don't even come close to losing.
Duke has zero depth. They have 4 really good freshman, one or two other decent players, and absolutely nothing else. Jones is by far their most important player. Zion didn't play the entire 2nd half against FSU and im sure it had an impact, but they still won. Without Jones they aren't a top 10 team.
Add in that they were without Reddish for the entire game.
Fortunately for Syracuse this win will look great if they are on the bubble. They won't look at Duke playing without 2 of their 4 best players and most important player. They were headed for being a bubble team but this win should give them some breathing room.
If the NCAA had properly held UNC accountable for all of the cheating and Bullshit they have done over the last several years to keep players eligible they would have no wins this season. But hey, I guess we'll never know.
As if Duke having McDonald's all-Americans and possibly the top two picks in the draft aren't enough. Poor Duke.
Duke has 3 other top 100 recruits besides the four freshman Â
SWEET VICTORY!!!!
Great win for Syracuse to say the very least as 17 point underdogs at Cameron.
How did Boeheim get them ready to play their best game of the season only two days after playing their worst game of the season?
Things sure look different when the shots drop!
Damn shame that Duke lost...
That's a shame....

I hate that guy. Total ass amd a thief.
Oh, so you were left with ONLY the top two recruits/NBA prospects PLUS A 3rd McDonald's All-American??
How could K possibly overcome such misfortune...

C'mon - be objective. SU only spotted Duke a 12-point lead to open the game.

Fuck ESPN and their partner/cash cow Duke.

For all those reason above.
